do you give your child
mom2tripp wrote: junk food?
moped replied: Who me??????????????? Nooooooooooooooooooo never....LOL
Yes but I don't like to
CAMSMOM1 replied: Yes I do. My son is 20 months old, and from time to time he gets junk food. But he is such a great eater, he'll eat anything I put in front of him, so I try to give him as much healthy foods as I can. A little junk food every now and then it's bad, of coures I don't want to make a habit of it. But if we're at a party and there's chips there or ice cream, I'll give him a little. Not an everyday thing.
PrairieMom replied: Does Mc Donalds count? Usually I bribe him. If he eats his dinner, he can have a little chocolate milk, when he went Potty today I rewarded him with a piece of candy. I try to make it work for me the best I can.
ediep replied: well, what do you mean by junk food? Jason eats sweets like cookies, teddy grahams, pudding, but he doesn't eat fast food meals like McDonalds or burger King. I try to really keep his meals healthy and balanced when we are home
luvbug00 replied: yes, Mya eats anything she wants ( except anything that looks like alcohal or tabacco products, candy cigars etc....) she's in her weight class and healthy. They are treats she gets.
Insanemomof3 replied: I give my kids junk food. Probably too much, but they are not fat, not unhealthy and they eat good dinners and stuff. I like giving them treats.
ammommy replied: Yes, in moderation.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Gerber iron fortified cookies, occasional baked french fries (homemade), and he has had like 3 lollipops in his life. Oh, but he loves ice cream.
mom2tripp replied: So glad to hear!! Tripp is addicted to cheese doodles and I felt so bad but yesterday he was playing in my mom's snack cabinet and found a bag of cookies and he was grinning at me like he knew he wasn't supposed to eat them. He pulled one out and with the biggest smile on his face held it up to me and I told him he could eat it. HE WAS IN HEAVEN!!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: that's funny!
We give our kids junk food... sure! Now and then.... whenever we have a long car ride - they know that if they behave, they will get timbits (donut holes). They also get their daily chocolate from their advent calendar (1st year we do this fgor them), they get Nutella on their toast sometimes, chocolate milk...
we don't usually buy stuff like chips, candy, cookies, iced cream etc... but we get cravings too... lol so if we have some, they can have a some as well, provided they ate well at the previous meal.
We don't deprive them of junk food... we just limit it.
I grew up very sheltered until the age of 10, i wasn't allowed to do much - definitely wasn't allowed sweets or junk food. When my parents split, suddenly i was allowed junk food and at 13 years old weighed like 140 pounds from the 100 I was at 10. Correlation? maybe... I seem to remembrer gorging on ice cream when my mom wasn't home - i'd eat as much as i could before feeling sick - she wasnt there to tell me no....
Kaitlin'smom replied: yep, I do try and limit it. She has certain things she loves so rather than deprive her now I let her have some here and there, would her rather have some now then gorge herself on it later.
mummy2girls replied: all i have to say is
mckayleesmom replied: Yes, but also in moderation....Both my kids are good eaters too. They will both eat anything that is put in front of them. Mckaylee always picks out a Push Pop candy when we go to the store. She loves cheetos too. I try not to keep the stuff int he house though...Usually I do buy fruit snacks or pudding cups and applesauce. But sometimes she gets candy and a 25cent bag of cheetos.
MommyToAshley replied: Yes, in moderation.
We do go to a "fast food" joint with an inside playground every Friday afternoon. We meet a few kids from Ashley's preschool every Friday and so far it has been at McDonald's or Burger King. But, this week we are going to see Mrs. Clause read to the kids and then next week we will start doing rotations at everyone's house.
But, I don't see anything wrong with a special treat every now and then as long as they eat healthy foods. And, I am lucky that Ashley loves all the good fruits and veggies.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke is allowed junk food in moderation. Daddy lets her eat it a lot more often than I do though.
PhiMuMommy replied: i eat tons of junk kfood but oddly enough my son is smarter than i am when it comes to health.. he prefers apple slices with carmel and carrots with ranch over candy... who knew?
