day 3 - no caffiene - need some support

jolene555 wrote: i cannot recall why i decided to do this, but i have stopped my caffiene intake cold turkey. oh yah, i remember now - it's completely unhealthy. i went for 2 years w/o that awful stuff and then had a taste for it late in my pregnany. 10 months later and i was drinking a liter a day. it needed to end. my mind says no, but my heart says "pepsi".

favre4fan replied: Oh no. I hardly ever drink soft drinks anymore if I do they are diet and caffeine free. I have more of a coffee habit that I have knocked down to once every other day and I drink green tea the rest of the time. 2years without it is good I wish i could give up chocolate like that!! rolling_smile.gif Good for you though!!

gr33n3y3z replied: I used to drink a 12 pack of pepsi a day bad huh? Well I started having heart palps and I also had a rapid heart beat after testing I was not alound to have caffeine of any kind now I drink caffeine free pepsi and tea and with the help of a pill every morning its all under control. I didnt miss the caffeine but I do not have the energy i used to have. Good Luck thumb.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I stopped caffeine intake, too. It is very hard to do. Think about how much better you will feel. Hang in there....I know you can do it. grouphug.gif

kimberley replied:

LOL rolling_smile.gif i feel your pain! the only pop i drank all my life was gingerale if i had a tummy ache or the occasional root beer. since having Jade (and DH being a pop junkie), it is my biggest addiction! good luck quitting. you can do it!

MommyToAshley replied: OMG, you sound like my clone... only I prefer coke (coca-cola!). I went cold turkey and gave it up as soon as I found out I was PG because I read that caffiene can cause miscarriages or pre-term labor. I had shakes and headaches for a few days, which I am sure was from caffiene withdrawls and not the PG symptoms. I didn't drink any caffiene while I was BF either, but as soon as I stopped BF, I had to have a coke. And, I am hooked again. blush.gif I am cutting back now though. I am drinking more water and only drinking 1 can a day which I plan to give up.... soon. I am like you, I know it is bad for me, but my tummy says yummy! laugh.gif

mama3x replied: I know how you feel - except I too am a coke person...

I used to drink 3-4 cans a day, sometimes 3 of the 20 ounce bottles a day. Then I started to lessen it gradually. I am not a cold turkey person! That was about 5 yrs ago.

Lucky for me, I lost my taste for coke when I was pg with DD and this time around. With DS all I could stomach was coke or orange juice (but thank goodness that didn't have an effect...).

Good luck, we're here for you!!!!! Maybe you want to consider a gradual thing instead if you're having a really hard time and there's nothing wrong with working yourself down to one can a day.

jolene555 replied: it's really rough, especially when barry is running around the house drinking that precious nectur. i got myself some V8 Splash crap to drink instead, but it's not cutting it. i am going to get a bunch of bottles of water tomorrow so i have something i can grab real quick - so i don't have time to even look at my dear sweet pepsi.

i had a headache all day today, and barry was sweet enough to take georgia off my hands a little so i could lay down. why do i feel like they should have detox centers for this? maybe i should suggest it to oprah for a show idea - "mothers on caffiene withdrawal". a 12 step program or something. i've been so cranky - perhaps i should not have quit during af, lol. poor barry.

Josie83 replied: I can't believe you decided to cut it out, but good for you for doing it. personally I dn't drink tea or coffee or many fizzy drinks, but I can imagine that it would be hard for some ppl who drink a lot of it. Good luck! xx

amynicole21 replied: I'm a coffee addict myself. I used to be able to drink sodas like water (in fact, I never drank any other liquid other than coke!) but since I've gotten older I can't tolerate it anymore. It hurts my stomach and makes me so gassy blush.gif

I've cut way back on my coffee intake during this pregnancy, but still have to have a morning cup or two. My doc says that's totally fine and within limits, so I'm not worried. Decaf sometimes helps me trick myself, but not for long rolleyes.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Oh I know how you feel!! Only my favorite is Coke or Dr. Pepper wink.gif I tried to stop so many times but always had to give in. I completely stopped drinking soda when we started BDing and haven't had any since and sometimes I want it so bad I can almost taste it! tongue.gif The funny thing is, I've gotten two free cans of Coke since I found out I was pregnant - I gave them both to dh! bawling.gif

A&A'smommy replied: OMG yeah I hear you only my addiction is Mountain dew I about go NUTS if I miss ONE day of not having one, I almost went two days without it but then I just got done sucking down one rolleyes.gif Anyway Good luck! I hope you are able to quit I hope I can because I REALLY need to move one to the M&M's so I can loose some weight emlaugh.gif

mummy2girls replied: God i know your pain! ?I tried but i just hack a day without something like juice or pop....LOL

ediep replied: I am a coffee addict!!! I quit cold tukey when I found out I was pregnant with Jason, but as soon as I gave birth....I went back to my coffee. I can't take soda anymore...my stomach kills me after, especially if it was from a can.

My2Beauties replied:
Mt Dew...(Homer's donut drool) I'm addicted to it!!!!! I have to have at least one a day (prefereably by my first break at 10:00) or I get a headache! If I don't I'm cracnky all day! I didn't know that coke or Pepsi can make you gassy, maybe that is why DF farts so much..he drinks at least 5 cans of Pepsi a day!
