lol sorry but i think some people just complain cuz they can. i actually think the pictures are cute. am i weird???
kit_kats_mom replied: I think it's hysterical. I mean if she was pinching them or something then ya, that would be bad but really...she just took away their lollipop to elicit a reaction and the parents were right there. ROFL How lame of people to complain.
amynicole21 replied: Oh please. The people angry about it probably forget how easy it is to get a kid to act like the world is ending... like taking away a lollipop for example! Duh.
I think the pics are cute, too
mckayleesmom replied: Well I guess Im a child abuser then....Yesterday at Walmart Russell dropped his sucker and acted like he just lost a toe...but I didn't give it back to him....
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I think they're adorable!!!
I think it's a great idea that the kids look like the world is ending... because it is... and they don't even know it...
Jeffs Wife replied: I really don't understand why anyone would have aproblem with that. I thought it was very cute. It really doesn't take much to get a child to react like that LOL
My3LilMonkeys replied: I don't think it's abuse at all - I agree, the pictures are very cute!
3_call_me_mama replied: Not really what I would call cute, but not really what I woudl call child abuse either. Definately not somethign I would sign my kids up for, and i think it's kinda mean to use them as an experiment for an art subject in which extreme saddness or despair (by some of the faces) is intentionally placed upon small children.
kimberley replied: i guess i find the pictures cute because i can totally relate to the mellow dramatic reactions of children especially since i recently acquired a 2yo drama queen lol. kids at that age cry over anything. when you say put them thru dispair.. well if they started running to the road to get a ball, you would cause them dispair by stopping them. it happens. the sad truth of parenting is that our kids are going to cry and there will come a time all the kisses in the world can't take away their pain. again.. it's just life. i think people should choose their battles and stop being so dramatic about a picture. there are bigger issues in the world that really need attention. no offense. that is just my opinion.
luvmykids replied: I see those faces every single day at least once LOL
I guess it would be mean and confusing to take a sucker away for no good reason but sheesh, child abuse?!?! Lamers!
And thb, if it were my kids at the photo shoot, you wouldn't have gotten that reaction anyway. You would have just seen shock and disbelief but they don't question authority other than mine
CantWait replied: I saw this on the news the other night, and I think people are just looking to b***h about something. I think the photo's are beautiful and wouldn't mind having one of my children. It's a tad mean, but only for a second, and like the news cast said, their parent's are there with them the whole time. I think the photographer is very talented to capture such beauty out of such a sad face.
Jamison'smama replied: okay, how many people sit their kids on Santa's lap--knowing full well they will scream? We do it anyway to get that picture---I see no difference except these pictures are beautiful.
C&K*s Mommie replied:
Besides in 20yrs the kids will have a lasting memory of one of their tantrums over something so trivial as a lollipop being taken away, but as the photog said, to a child the world is ending-- in 20 yrs they can have a good laugh about it. I like the waxy-like effect on the photos, it looks like the children are not real.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Well I was watching the clip when Tay came in and asked what was wrong with those babies ? I told her that someone wanted to take pictures of them crying and so they took away their lollipops She looked at me like I had grow 3 heads and said "That is terrible momma! Where is their mommas? Why would they do that to them? It is breaking their hearts!!! " So I guess just like the 'beauty' of art the logic of it is also all in the eye of the beholder! And from the eyes of a child it seems that this 'experiment' did not measure up!
Cece00 replied: I dont think its cute, really, but I certainly dont consider it ABUSE. Weird, I guess (what's so interesting/cute/whatever about a kid crying?????) but not abusive.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Abuse? Perhaps if she was yelling profanities while she did it, but come on! Over a lollipop...some people have way too much time on their hands.
MyLuvBugs replied: I belong to a Professional photography forum, and this has been a HUGE debate on there. Some of the photographers say it's cruel, while others say much like what you all are saying...they're fine.
As a parent and a photographer, I do have pics of Lorelei screaming/crying/being a royal pain in the butt. However, they're spontaneous pictures. I don't purposefully upset her to take the picture. KWIM? That is the problem that most photographers I've talked to have with what she's done. It's one thing to capture a temper tantrum that is spontaneous....it's another to purposefully cause the child to be upset.
Personally, I don't feel it's necessarily "child abuse", but I also wouldn't be one of the parents that signed my child up for that type of photo either. I like my kids smile much more than her grouchy faces.
3_call_me_mama replied: I understand what you're all saying, I just imagine intentionally making a child that upset (wether over a lollipop or otherwise) JUST to get a shot of them crying. Not saying that the expressions aren't very real and well shot, but candid would have been better IMO. Especially since we have sen to see these faces first hand in our own children. If you want the pose ZI guess I would advocate doing it candidly rather than setting the stage kinda thing.. but then again I'm no professional photographer.
MyLuvBugs replied: That's the exact argument that my Pro Photo friends have been saying. Candid and spontaneous is always better.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Kimberley this is exactly what I was going to say!
Some people think it is a horrible crime to 'allow' or 'make' a child cry. The truth is, they cry over everything!!
BJ~Bre's Mommy replied: I honestly don't think it is child abuse but I think the babies make up is to much...JMO! I do think some the of the pics are funny though.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I thought of this too! I couldn't sign my baby up for that. Raises questions in my head.
A&A'smommy replied: I think they are beautiful too.. precious little faces!!! I completly agree with kimberley that is exactly what I would have said!!
kimberley replied: excellent point! and what about making your child hug or sit with some weird adult they don't know (like a friend or relative).. we do the same stuff everyday without a camera, why is it so wrong when someone does it in the name of art???
