changing avatars - can't see???

Kaitlin'smom replied: yep I had this problem at work, I could see the new ones at home but not hear so what I had to do was log off shut down my brouser (or if your aol sign off) bing the brouser back up and re-log in. (couse I had trouble remembering my pass word! ) thats what finally worked for me! try it and see if that helps.

maliksmommy replied: I don't know what's wrong I just noticed that Sammy's mom doesn't even show up. Maybe it's just my computer today. I'll see how it is tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions.

supermom replied: Sammy's mom's server is having issues i think because I can't see hers either. But i do notice that sometimes it takes up to a day for me to see someone's new avitar when people are commenting on how cute the new one is.......even if I log off and back on after closing my internet browser......

Any other suggestions M2A or TLCDad???

Maybe try clearing your cache. IF you are using Internet Explorer:
Enter the Microsoft Internet Explorer as you normally would.
Click on View in the menu bar.
Click on Options in the drop down menu.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Under Temporary Internet Files, click on the Settings button.
Click on the Empty Folder button.
Click on the Yes button when the dialog window appears.
Wait until the cursor returns from an hourglass to an arrow.
Click on the OK button to return to the Options window.
Click on the OK button to return to the Internet Explorer browser

I would then close the IE window and open it up again and come back to the web site...see if that helps.

The way browsers handle images is that if it sees the request for the same filename that is in your cache it will use your cache on your computer so you do not need to redownload the image again.. This saves time on modem users for example. The problem is since avatar are the same filename even if they change the browser will use the cached image instead. However; this should only be a problem on older browsers. Newer ones should look at other information to know if the image has really changed.

But as mentioned the way to force your browser to refresh its cache is to use the refresh button. Sometimes you might need to hold down the shift key while you click refresh. This will definitely force your browser to completely redownload all images, etc on the page.

My recommendations are keep your browsers up2date to the latest versions. And if you see that someone has changed their avatar but you do not see the new image, to click the refresh button.
