blood on TP?

kit_kats_mom wrote: Just popping in to see if anybody has any input for me. I've done a few quick searches online (between playing nurse to two sick kids & DH and being sick myself) & I've not found anything very helpful yet.

For the last 4 days, when K has a BM there is a bloody smear on the TP when we wipe. Not a ton but enough to get my attention. I had a look and there was nothing obviously wrong on her bum. The BM's have been soft so I'd be suprised if they were causing it & as far as I can tell, she's not been constipated lately. The BM's look normal (don't appear to be bloody) but today there was a bit more blood than the last few days.

Should I take her in? Just keep an eye on it?

Honestly I hope you guys say it's nothing. Lauren slept all of 3 hours last night and that, compounded with my slow recover from the flu....well, I'm really too tired to go to the ped today. Kind of afraid to drive sad.gif

coasterqueen replied: Well I would keep an eye on it for another day or so and then maybe take her in, but I wouldn't do it today when you are not feeling well. I don't think it's anything serious. Could it be a fischer (? - is that what they call it?) from having been constipated if she was at any time recently????? I've noticed on occassion Kylie having a little bit of blood on tp before.

MyLuvBugs replied: I get that way when I'm a little dehydrated. Not necessarily constipated, but it takes effort to get the poop out. KWIM? Sometimes I'll tear a little hemroid on the way out. Sorry. TMI. smile.gif But, she seems WAY to young for that to be happening. Has she eaten something that she shouldn't have? Like a coin or a lego or something? I'd take her in just to make sure. She young and there shouldn't be MORE blood each day. Keep us posted. hug.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: Call the Dr
She could have something wrong inside of her

kit_kats_mom replied: Thanks guys. I'll call now for an appointment. Lisa, I was hoping you'd chime in...of course I was hoping you'd say it's nothing. :-)

amymom replied:
I totally agree with Lisa. I am glad you are calling. And Karen is right it probably is just a fissure (sp?) but can't be too safe with our little ones. I know you are tired, I am sending you pep vibes~~~~ if there is such a thing. Take care of yourself too. hug.gif

gr33n3y3z replied:
I'm sorry hon
But that was the first thing they looked for with katies stomach problems sad.gif
But It maybe nothing but its best to be safe then sorry
Let us know

kimberley replied: i am glad you are taking her in. i hope you all feel better soon. hug.gif

redchief replied: Any time there is blood in the stool, especially a new onset show of blood, you should contact a doctor to make sure it is nothing. Usually it is just that, the sensitive tissue of the anus gets abraded and tears a little. This is more common when an illness is exacerbating things. (Then there are hemorrhoids... ick)

So, as Lisa says, I'd get in checked out. It's probably nothing, but better to be certain.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Keep us posted as to any updates! hug.gif

Lexismama replied: In my opinion, it isnt much to worry about. It is probably jsut a small tear from pushing too hard, or it "could" be a hemmroid. Usually with blood just on the TP and not in the poop itself, and if it is bright red, it is fresh blood usually coming from a tear. HTH

jcc64 replied: This happens to Noah's best friend alot. He's seen the dr a few times, and it was concluded that he had a fissure, and that his stools were probably a little too hard to get out at times. They put him on Colace or some other stool softener and it went away. I'm certain it's the same thing, but if you're gonna feel nervous about it, why not just take her in or call at the very least?
