bleeding after 2nd child
ediep wrote: ok, Emma is 9 days old now and I am still bleeding. It has slowed down a bit from the first 2-3 days, but its still like a med-flow AF. I am also still pretty sore. I have stiches from an episiomity and I still have some hemorrhoids...if I don't have advil running through me, I am very uncomfortable.
The nurse at the hospital (and some moms) have told me that the bleeding was heavier with the second child and I get that I am older and I have to take care of Jason and Emma so that leads to me being more sore.....
Is this what is supposed to happen?
gr33n3y3z replied: I think I bled for 4 to 5 weeks but it got lighter as time went on then I got AF a week or 2 after I stopped with all of my kids
MyLuvBugs replied: hmmmmm....Well, each person is different, but I stopped bleeding after Lexi by about 2 weeks. Whereas after Lorelei....it was 6 weeks of Full on heavy bleeding. UGH.
As for being sore....that's the stitched and episiotomy. When I had lorelei I had 2 second degree tears. One along the side and one right down the middle. (OUCH!) and I was SOOOOOOOOO sore for weeks afterwards. But this time with Lex not a single stitch and I was up running around the next day fine. The tears and episiotomy's take some time to heal and they are SOOOO not fun. (especially when sitting down ) But it will get better.
Can I ask why the episiotomy?? Just curious.
PrairieMom replied: Me too! even tho I was nursing. totally unfair. I never missed a beat.
as for the soreness, I was way more sore with Ben, but I tore worse. With him I couldn't sit or walk for days, but with Ally I was waling and sitting comfortably immediately. did you Tear with Jason? Maybe its just a difference in how much or how deep? or maybe you just tore right where a nerve is or something?
lesliesmom replied: I can't remember how long I bled after child #2; however, since #3 was so recent I can tell you I bled for 2-3 weeks after I had her... heavy, of course, the first couple days, then to a medium flow, and then, when I over did it, it picked up again for a day or two. I only had to have stitches after my first one, but I remember always sitting on a VERY soft pillow, made it more comfortable with the stitches and the hemorrhoids.
gr33n3y3z replied: me too geeze so unfair
kimberley replied: afterpains were far worse with each subsequent child. i was on T3's for weeks. bleeding stopped about 3 wks but returned a week later for a couple more weeks. i hope you feel better soon.
ediep replied: I guess, I got the episiomity because the doc didn't want me to tear, I think tears are harder to stich and take longer to heal
MyLuvBugs replied: hmmm....See my midwife, and all the reading I've read too, said that tears are harder to stitch, but they heal sooooo much faster than an episiotomy b/c they usually aren't as deep as the cut a dr would make.
But can't change it now, huh? i hope you start feeling better soon though sweetie. It's so hard when youhave a toddler and a newborn and you don't feel well on top of it all.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I had an episiotomy with Wil and bled for about 6 weeks. I had a C with Wesley and bled for about 8 weeks I think. I would think you would bleed longer after your second, but not sure. Also, I agree with what you said...the older you are, the harder is to heal...plus taking care of two kids is harder on your body. Take it easy! Do you have help??
lisar replied: I had c-sections so the bleeding was as long as most peoples. I bleed for about 10 days with each one of them. If you just had her 9 days ago I would say its normal. But I am no DR so I dont really know.
Boys r us replied: Yeah, I had a lot longer bleeding this time than I did with Tanner or Braedon. I bled for 3 weeks with Alexandra and it was pretty heavy up until the last 2 days before it stopped.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Now I am the opposite.. I bled forever with Brittany..and not long at all with the other two. Justin maybe 7 days and Tanner the same.. a break then my period. I hated those darn periods..lol
I had stitches just once and a small tear with Tanner.. but I remember the soreness after the stitches and it was awful.
