batteries

PrairieMom wrote: So get this!
i have been setting up the nursery today and have been making a list of all the batteries that i will be needing. I can't believe it.
15 3A
19 2A
6 C
7 9 volt
3 D
and a couple watch batteries.

Can you believe it?!?! that is for one mobile, a crib toy, one lay on the ground toy, 3 baby monitors, ( one for up stairs, one for down stairs, and the one for sound because the sound part on my angel care monitor is crap...) a bouncy seat, a swing, the list goes on...

I knew that kids go through a lot of batteries, but MAN when you have to do them all at once, instead of one toy at a time, it really adds up!

MommyToAshley replied: If you have CVS there, they have batteries, buy one pack, get one free. LOL

CantWait replied: ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif YIKES!!!

PrairieMom replied:
yeah, maybe start collecting batteries now. rolling_smile.gif
Its totally insane! but my angel care monitor alone takes something like 12 batteries.
I didn't even take into consideration that you need to have some extras on hand for when the batteries start to run out, a swing or bouncy seat without batteries is a bad bad thing. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: Wow! That IS a lot of batteries. Whatever happened to the days when things didn't need batteries? tongue.gif

PrairieMom replied:
I don't know. It just amazes me! when you look at the stack of stuff that needs batteries, it doesn't look that bad, it's just that everything needs at least 3 or 4. rolleyes.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Oh I know what you are saying. I just don't know how our parents and their parents did it without contraptions with batteries. happy.gif I still remember winding the swing up for my mom when my sister was a baby! I just wish sometimes we could go back to simpler times without all this stuff.

PrairieMom replied:
I wish it could all be solar powered or something. LOL. It seems like most of the stuff we have vibrates, and there is no way I would have a kid with out a vibrating bouncy seat. I don't actually think it can be done. rolling_smile.gif That and this handy little thing that goes on the side of the crib and has a night light, and plays a heart beat sound, then it has this little piece that you can lay up against the baby that vibrates. We bought that for Al. I have no idea how we had ben with out it. rolling_smile.gif

DVFlyer replied: Buy rechargeable batteries from places like allbatteries.com etc.

We've saved $$$ many times over by using rechargeable batteries.

PrairieMom replied:
huh.gif Seriously? you don't think I use rechargeables? rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif J/K.

I don't have THAT many tho. I will check out your link, cause this is going to be like sick, scary expensive.

coasterqueen replied:
Did you just use regular batteries with the other kids then?

I'd definitely check out more rechargeable ones, might be more expensive now, but save in the long run. happy.gif

PrairieMom replied:
No, we used rechargeables too, but a lot of stuff came with batteries that lasted as long as I needed the toy, and now all my rechargeables are in all those other noisy toys that the kids have. rolleyes.gif Can't put batteries into Charlies stuff without taking batteries out of Ben and Al's stuff.
