bath seats?
kimberley wrote: when do i graduate Jade from her baby bath to a bath seat in the tub? i don't want to do it too soon and scare her from the tub. please share your experiences with me
Kaitlin'smom replied: well after Kaitlin could sit up I would bathe her in the kitchen sink, then went it got to be to much to clean everything to bathe her I moved her to the big girl tub, no seat, I just got new sticky things for the bottem of it. She LOVED it. then we got more toys for her and bath time is fun, when I ask her if she is ready for her bath she will run to the bathroom bang on the door, I open it and she runs to the tun and hikes her leg up tring to get in
booey2 replied: Hi, until Thomas and Matthew were able to sit up, we put the baby tub inside the big tub to get them use to the sounds and size of the bathroom and once they were able to sit up we used the ring seat for the bath and they loved it.
5littleladies replied: I moved Brianna to a bath seat as soon as she could sit up assisted. I would lay a towel in the seat so she would not slip. She loved playing in her seat.
coasterqueen replied: After Kylie could sit up we tried the seat in the tub, but that thing seemed so dangerous and the first time I put her in it her chubby legs got scratched when I put her in the seat. The thing was not meant for chubby legs! LOL. So I ditched that thing and went and bought a plastic blow-up tub from Toys R us for about $12. You can also get them through One Step Ahead online. It was the best investment I made. The little tub sits inside of your tub and it's big enough for them to sit up in plus a bit more room for them to splash around etc etc etc. Kylie LOVED that thing. I've since put it away, sniff, sniff and will use it for the next one. It was definately a great investment of $12
Jamison'smama replied: I bought a bath ring and never used it --(Jamison had chubby legs too) just was a lot harder to wash parts and you had to use more water--just didn't like it. We bought the blow up tub (Snuggle Tub) at Target and loved it! Much better investment for me.
kimberley replied: hmmm never heard of those blow up tubs. i will have to go out and look on the weekend. sounds like a better investment. ITA about it being hard to wash them in the ring seat and i had boys.. can't imagine how hard it would be with a girl!
Jade sits up pretty well on her own now. that is why i asked. she is trying to sit in her tub and it just wasn't built for that lol. thanks everyone!
Jamison'smama replied: Here is an example of the tub
MilMunchMOM replied: How adorable..is that Jamison?? I got in the tub with mine for the first few times so they would not get scared. I tried those ring seats and hated it. It would tip over, I couldn't wash the baby and it ws hard to get them in and out. I never tried the blow up tubs, but i will now!!
kimberley replied: Jamison is too cute!!! and the tub would be perfect for Jade! thanks so much for the suggestion!
dolfinrse replied: We had a plastic tub that we used at first, but when he got too long for it, I used to take him in the tub with me until got too squirmy, now he goes in for his own bath.
Jamison'smama replied: Yep, that was her at about 5.5 months. I loved the tub---the bottom was cushioned too so it was a nice way to bathe her--the ring I had did have front part that folded down to put her in and wash her but the blow up tub was so much nicer. When I started putting her in the regular tub, I put a small hand towel in the bottom of the tub to grip her a little better.
CantWait replied: Can I just say........HUGE WASTE OF . I started Anthony as soon as he started to sit up on his own, but he was only in there for about a month before he got to big for it, and couldn't fit his chunky legs in there. I just watch him carefully in the tub.
Elle replied: Well, with all my 3 kids I did a different thing...
When Alex was a baby I had one of those plastic tubs, and she had her baths there until the tub broke down (she was about 2 years old) and I started bathing her in the big tub.
Jules was born soon after Alex turned 2, so I had the idea of bathing the 2 girls together (with the father's help, of course ) in the big tub... And they loved it, they still share the tub (soon they'll be 6 and 4 years old).
When Bry was born Nat's brother gave us one of those blow up tubs (like Jamison's) as a present, and he used that till he got too big for it... Now he's almost 18 months old and he shares the big tub with his sisters! (They make a mess in the bathroom every night, but boy, they have a lot of fun!)
I think you can put your baby in the tub, you just have to watch her carefully!
maestra replied: Jaci used a blow up tub and it was wonderful! We got ours at Target, and anytime she would fall back a little, she would fall on the blown up rings and be totally protected. I totally recommend one! She used it from the time she was able to sit up until she was too big for it.
