are you watching the rep or dem - debates yet?
boyohboyohboy wrote: seems so early to be watching all these people put their hats in the ring.... and seems like its so much more sensationalized this year.
jcc64 replied: It's ridiculous. I'm trying my best to ignore it until closer to the election.
PrairieMom replied: I have the Dem. one on DVR, and I will watch it when I am in the mood. I am going to try to keep up with this stuff this time. I really dn't know why I bother tho, with the electoral college, my vote really isn't going to matter.
lovemy2 replied: Bad Attitude Tara - EVERYONE'S vote counts (or so they say... )
HuskerMom replied: It's a little early for me.
Mommyof3 replied: I watched the highlights of the Dem. Debate...I hear Al Gore might join the race...maybe I'll pay a little more attention to all of it if he does. That would be interesting!
PrairieMom replied: not mine. I am a Democrat living in a republican state. and even IF the whole state happened to flip sides, we are only worth one or 2 votes anyway. The system is so screwed up. I will do my civic duty and vote tho. I still have hope.
boyohboyohboy replied: I have never voted before, and this time i have my registration and I am paying much more attention, however it seems that its going to be a long time for me to remember who agrees with what policy...
jcc64 replied: I feel the same way, Tara. I think the electoral college SUCKS. I vote out of some delusional obligation, and so I can continue to complain about the status quo with a clear conscience. But, I am realistic about the importance of my voice- that is- I am aware that I am meaningless.
Twelve Volt Man replied: I try to follow them, when I can. Sometimes, I'll go in a different room to watch them. They're a bit too cerebral to keep my wife entertained, so she's not usually into them.
jcc64 replied: Personally, I think they're not cerebral enough. I don't like being the recipient of sound byte after sound byte. If the debates were actually substantive, maybe I'd be more inclined to watch. But it's so much postering and positioning, that nothing revelatory actually ever gets spoken. Makes me want to hurl, all of it.
jem0622 replied: I listen a little here and there
redchief replied: The only interest I have in such a long, drawn out run for the presidency is the comical ways supposedly smart politicians find to shoot their feet off long before most of the country is even a little bit interested in the election. It's funny watching these numb-skulls drool stupidity and find other ways to commit political suicide. It's possible that we're seeing some real candidates come out of the current "front runners," but they still have so much time to destroy their own credibility.
luvmykids replied: I don't like the electoral college either I'm a Rep in a Dem state, Tara or Jeanne want to do a house swap at election time?
I watched some of the Dem debate, only out of gross curiosity since our governor is running.
jcc64 replied: And Monica, I'm an independent in a very blue state, but I realize that I'd be much more effective in a swing state. They're the only states that anyone cares about in an election.
PrairieMom replied: That is SOOO annoying. to me that means that the wants of the many are being decided by a relatively few voters. It makes me want to scream. Unfortunately, I don't really see anything changing.
DansMom replied: I'm not watching---there's so little useful information being communicated. I see the amusing or ridiculous highlights on The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert.
I think Michigan is turning into a swing state---it's barely blue.
C&K*s Mommie replied: It is far too early for me to start watching. Once time dwindles than I will take more interest.
