I am trying to find a fifth wheel so we can go camping this year. A few of our friends and their kids go up to a lake not too far from us and it would be so much fun!!! But it is sooooo hard to find one I like I guess I'm too particular

No, I can't say that I'll ever be that much "fun" again. Now a 5th wheel with a bathroom & kitchen, heat & A/C~that's my idea of camping!
We spend most of our summer in a campground in the Lake Erie area. My family has several late model mobile homes that are "permanent" there. I love sitting around the campfire in the evening and making pie irons. We love it there!

yeah, my dh doesn't like to "rough" it so he agreed to go if I found one with air conditioning, a bathroom and a t.v

I love to go camping, we went all the time when I was younger but I haven't been able to go since I got married (coming 4 years in June). It took me 4 years but I FINALLY convinced my dh to look into a 5th wheel I'm really excited!!!...hopefully I will be able to find one this year The lake we would go to is gorgeous!!!

Hey! Same here! We used to camp all the time when I was growing up. Scotty's idea of camping is what you described.

I love camping. I can't wait to go this coming fall.

Good luck finding the 5th wheel you are looking for. I'd love to buy a camper, but Scotty just doesn't have the time to go with the hours he works.

TANNER'S MOM replied: We do! We have a camper..nothing fancy. Just a small camper and some tents. We go in the woods and camp. Take the horses and trail ride for days. Dutch oven cook etc.. cowboy style.

And we follow a few rodeo circuits and we take our camper and go and stay thru the rodeo's .

I love it..especially if it invovles water!

uwishucudfly replied: I LOVE CAMPING! But we don't use a trailer or anything, we just take the pick up trucks to go camping. We always go with my cousin, his wife, and their two daughters. We park the trucks around a campfire, and use each bed for a different use. One is a table, others are beds, and one is storage and equipment. Ohh, I am so excited that it is getting warmer and we can go camping now!

my dh is the exact same way...he works constantly!!! He said he would go for a few days in June when things settle down for a little while and then I would have to go on my own with the kids the good thing is, the lake is only 20 min from here so he would come up in the evening for awhile and then go back...but I'll take what I can get

A camper would be neat, but DH likes to rough it and quite frankly I like it that way too. The last time we got to go camp was right before we came out here. DH did his trout fishing all day and that at night we would build a fire and then go to sleep in the tent. It was a bit chilliy, but it was really fun. We have been trying to go camping out here. There are all sorts of camp sites right on the beach. I would like to see if Jade likes it.

CCTandME replied: Me, me, me! I love camping. We leave next Friday the second Cailee gets off the bus. We use to do the tent thing, now we have a pop-up. We paid about $4000 for it brand new. payments were $106/mo.
Tip: to keep mice out in the winter, put dryer sheets in it. Heard that on th eradio. Our pop-up still looks brand new.

Boys r us replied: I LOVE to go camping!!! My whole group of friends all go with our spouses and what not at least once a summer. We all just sleep in tents, we have two nice 10 man tents and air mattresses to go in them. I can't really imagine camping any other way honestly!!
As long as there is a bathroom with a toilet and shower near by, I'm good..I can't handle camping out in the REAL boonies! But luckily for us there are several nice campgrounds with lakes and all of the "amenities" within an hour of us!

mammag replied: We go once a year, for a weekend. We do the tent way too. Each year I'm soooo excited to go but then by the time the weekend is up I say, I'm not doing this next year! I think what I hate the most is packing the car! Of course, the last time we went I was about 6mos pregnant and had turf toe so I was wearing a crazy looking orthopedic shoe and it was akward. I found out you can rent campers and I though of doing that this year to try it out. To be honest, the thing I really look forward to about it is making the fire and roasting the marshmallows.... I should just make a fire pit in the back yard and come in at the end of the night....

Yep, there is a HUGE lake close to Scotty's work. He has talked about doing this...leaving us there during the day and coming out at night when he got off work. I would be with the kids alone during the day, though. I'm not sure how that would work. It kind of scares me to think about it.

Some of the Ohio State Parks have a "rent a camp" program. They set up anything from a platform tent complete with cooking gear at Deer Creek to a 10 man octagon thingy with 3 rooms , porta potties and an indoor fireplace at Kelly's Island State Park. You might consider that option~at least they do most of the work!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Love it, but ever since that stupid Blaire Witch movie came out several years ago, I've been pretty chicken you know what to go. Plus they have bears in Colorado. I do enjoy the outdoors a lot though!

5littleladies replied: I love camping! We always rough it though. I don't think we will be going this year though-I can handle sleeping on the ground when I'm my normal size but I think I would probably be miserable with a watermelon in my belly to deal with.

Gammy2 replied: We love camping. We go every summer for 2 weeks. We also stay in tents. WE love the outdoors. We also go to Lake Sherwood. It's a very beautiful lake. I have been going there for umm lets see - 25 years. It's a big family thing with us. We are going again this summer and taking the grandbabies - fun fun.

We have a lot of bears here too, last year we were on our way to the lake (just for the day) and a black bear ran across the road Trust me, they are more scared of you than you are of them...I used to see bears a lot when I would go quadding with my brothers...those were the days

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I love camping! I've actually only gone about 3 times in my life ~ my family never took vacations of any kind when I was growing up. We went last year with Jennifer's family (3littleladies) and it was lots of fun ~ dh and I had to go get an air mattress for the 2nd night though... sleeping on the ground was a lot harder than I remembered it to be!

I'm suprised we even have a tent and we aren't sleeping under the stars. We even go places where there isn't showers and we do our own make shift showers. Although those were always fun .

You heat up the water on a camp stove or on the campfire....then dishes get nice and clean with the warm water .
