anger management and depression - ever dealt with it
J-rod wrote: anyone here been ther personally or know someone who has. im wondering if anger management controll pills can be purchased without a prescription or not? i know someone who has them but i think they have to go to the dr to get them.
what about depression? same thing.
what can be done without a dr. to help in these situations? sometimes you just feel like exploding....but you have too much to do and too many people counting on you to even worry about yourself.....
amynicole21 replied: That's what my issue is. I've never really been sad or depressed, just very, very angry and rageful. Taking zoloft really helps. Any antidepressant should work, but you'll have to get a prescription for them. You don't necessarily have to go to a psychiatrist - your regular doc or OB can perscribe them.
J-rod replied: well for me
Dr. = $$$$$
OB = if i was a girl. lol
i can get some from a friend of mine. he can go to hiys pshyc. and get them for me....but i dont know if thats such a good idea.
if i could ever find time to relax....it wouldnt be so bad.... but im running non-stop from 6am - 10pm and the baby isnt even here yet.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I have zero personal exp with medications, but I know that taking what you get from your friend is a BAD idea. Not only because they were not prescribed for you and your induvidual situation by a trained professional, like a doctor, and the dosages may be different for you as they are from him. With a prescription they can ease your body into the correct dosage over time.
Doctors are expensive, but that would be your best route. Going for a prescription.
b&bsmom replied: I have ( do ) suffer from a mild depression. I went to my reg doc who gave me samples of ...I don't even remember the name now but she gave me samples. I am not crazy about taking meds because I take them for my addisons disease so I hate adding extra I then decided to talk to a pyscatrist (sp) just because I felt that would help me as well. I went for like 3 seasions which was about all I could afford ( I paid her one night with $5 in quarters as well) It helped so much and made it easier for me to bear. You need to do what is best for you. If you are suffering now , if I read right a baby will be added into the picture, you want to get yourself straightend out now before a baby comes. It changes everything.
Also I agree taking pills from a friend is a bad idea.
I am not sure where you are from but is there somewhere you can go and get free care. A clinic or something. It is best to take care of yourself. I know it is easier said then done but please try to get to a doc.
Hope that helps. KUP
luvmykids replied: Things sound a little rough, I'm sorry to hear it.
You can also try a church, they may be able to refer you to a low cost or free clinic where they do a sliding scale fee.
amynicole21 replied: Oops! Sorry - habit Do you not have health ins.? If not, the meds would get very expensive unfortunaty.
J-rod replied: well i stopped taking his pills last year...i flushed them all down. since i met steph i have changed alot of my old habits. been alcohol free (100%) since Nov. 9 2005. im a dad now so i have new priorities. i have someone who loves me and who i love so i no longer need the "get drunk to forget" things.
im gonna call my buddy who is a pharmacist and see what he can reccomend
sorry for airing alot of my crap here.... hope ya'll dont think im some kind of angry/depressed pillhead....cause thats not me...... im just overwhelmed and want to get a hold of the situation before it gets a hold of me.
J-rod replied: its ok...happens.
no dont have insurance at the job yet. have to wait 1 yr before those available.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Very commendable of you to step up to the plate in advance and recognize the stresses in your life before it is too late. Good that you can also be honest with yourself, as well.
CONGRATS on being alcohol free 6mos and some days now.
CantWait replied: Just wanted to wish you best of luck, I know what you're going through with depression and your taking a big step by admitting that you need help. Good Luck.
jcc64 replied: you can get a script from any kind of dr who has prescription writing priviledges. If $ is an issue, you can contact your county mental health dept, who will be able to direct you to low cost treatment. I seriously urge you not to take meds w/o at least one consult with a dr- different meds work for different people/symptoms, and the dosages need to be tailored to your particular physiology. There is no shame in taking meds for mental health issues ( I do, as do many others), but the way you're going about it is not the most responsible or effective way to manage your problems. Depression takes many different forms, but it's a real disease, not a character flaw, and if you need help, the only shame is in not getting it.
jacobsmama replied: ITA with others but I wanted to ad that if you have a family doctor that you can go and see and pay for one charge (and the usually give you a discount if you are paying self pay) But anyhow they should be able to give you something they have samples of We do it all the time for our patients and if your doctor is understand he will help you out as much as he can. Good luck!
ETA: There are also some herbal vitamins that you can try as well but if they don't help definetly see your docotor.
J-rod replied: maybe ill try the herbals first. ill check the local Hippy store. lol
ashtonsmama replied: to Amy's comment. Talk to your doc...I was on anti-depressants for a long time, and almost went back on them after Ashton because I was pretty depressed for the first month or so...you have to take care of yourself first, otherwise no one gets taken care of. Good for you for realizing that!
ashtonsmama replied: ALSO-I tried fish oil capsules (I know that sounds gross, but it's ok)...and they REALLY worked...so check the local "hippy store" for those!
J-rod replied: steph takes the fish oil ones...supposed to be good for the baby development.
ill check the Hippy store tomorrow when im in Mo'town. luckily where im from we dont have them. LOL
