a quick update - from yesterday

cameragirl21 wrote: I really don't want to rehash this topic again but just wanted to tell some of you that with the help of your information and suggestions, both on the board and via PM I had a very lengthy discussion with my godson's mom and suffice it to say that I got through to her and that she got the message. I firmly (and happily) believe that my godson is now out of danger.
I didn't want to bring this up again at all because I know it upsets some people but the fact is that without first discussing it with some of you I'm quite certain I wouldn't have been able to approach my GS's mom about this so many of you really did help me improve a child's life and helped me save a child from a series of bad experiences and I just wanted you to know that.
In addition, some of you may remember that my godson's mom's friend, Michelle was trying to adopt a baby in Russia and that judges in Russia were precluding her from doing this. Well, yesterday she told my GS's mom that she got clearance to get her baby and that she's leaving for Russia shortly to go and pick her up. I know Michelle will make a good mom and open her home and her heart to an orphan who otherwise would have neither.
So thanks to those of you who sent positive thoughts here way, I really appreciate it. smile.gif

Crystalina replied: That's great news Jennifer. laugh.gif I wish her luck with her new child. Is it a baby or an older child? I've always wanted to adopt but I would adopt from here. That is just a personal choice though. I know that some of the kids from Russia are older that's why I ask the age.

cameragirl21 replied: I don't know for sure if it's the same baby that she originally chose, Crystal, but if it is, she's about one year old...a few months ago when she picked her out, she was nine months old so I'm just estimating but if she's already had her first bday, it would have been very recent.
I'm not sure why she chose to go to Russia, but I'm really glad that she gave an orphan a home. wub.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: I am glad that you were able to resolve the issue with your GS's Mom. That makes me think that we all have the best interest of children at heart... Good Job Jennifer..

Congrats.. to the Michelle

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am also pleased that you approached your friend, and that she is understanding. I wish her the best with the new little one.

cameragirl21 replied:
Thanks for that, Mel, children are without a doubt the most important thing we have as a society.
And thanks for your support too, Nicole.

CantWait replied:
Unfortunetly I don't think it's that simple, but I applaud you for speaking with her. At the very least she's on her toes now.

Congrats to your other friend.

Jamison'smama replied: Glad things are better. Congrats to your friend, my sister adopted a child from Russia 3 years ago.
