Your children's names...

Danalana wrote: Why did you choose the names you chose? I know some people use family names, or the name of someone close to them...or maybe they like the meaning of the name. Of course, there are those who just like the name, period....

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Logan Read

Logan was Aaron's grandfather's middle name (James Logan)

Read is my grandfather's middle name and my brother's (John Read and Daniel Read)

msoulz replied: We chose names that we just liked and that were not family names. Being from a long line of Mary's, Anne's and George's I thought it would be nice to have something a little unique to the family anyway. happy.gif

mummy2girls replied: Jenna... is another form of jennifer ( after arons sister)
Lynn... is my middle name
and her last name is hyphened. my last and arons

Jordan... because I love that name!
Michael.. after my dad
Eli.. after his dads grandpa
and his last name is hyphened mine and his last name

PrairieMom replied: Benjamin Tracy

Tracy is My FIL's name, it is family tradition to pass the grandfathers name down to the grandson.
We chose benjamin because it was a strong male name to go with Tracy

Alexis NiKol

Alexis from a girl on Fear factor. Yeah, really. When we were thinking of girl names for our first pregnancy we were stumped, and I casually said, lets name her her after whoever wins this game, and some chick named Alexis won. blush.gif We actually liked the name. It is actually very fitting for her personality. It is after ALexander the Great.
NiKol is after my sister. It is also very fitting, they are very alike.

Brias3 replied: We stuck to mostly family names.

Ryan Nicholas- Ryan because we liked it and Nicholas is Bruce's real first name (he goes by his middle)

Aliyah Dawn- Aliyah was something Bruce chose, Dawn is my mom's name

Mason Allen Michael- Mason because we liked it, Allen is Bruce's dad, and Michael is my dad

My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke Catherine - Brooke is a name I have loved since I was younger, and Catherine is after Catherine Willows, a character on CSI - yes, I know, we're weird. blush.gif

Madison Sara - we got Madison from a baby name book. We narrowed it down to Madison (DH's pick) and MacKenzie (my pick) and took a family vote - Madison won. Sara is after Sara Sidle, also a CSI character.

luvmykids replied: Kylie Laine....tossed around Macie just because we liked it, and Lilly after my grandma which started WWIII, but at the time Kylie wasn't that common so thats what we settled on. Laine is the female version of Lane, as in Lane Frost, a bullrider who died before they were required to wear the protective vests and DH was still riding bulls at the time so he wasset on giving her something in her name that had something to do with it.

Colt Clyde....DH always had Colt in mind for a son, he likes to joke that he is a stud so naturally his son would be his colt rolleyes.gif I went along with it because I knew being a cowboy was in his blood and it's a good name for a cowboy. Clyde is FIL's middle name.

Macie Marie....Macie was leftover from not being used for Kylie laugh.gif and we still liked it. Marie is my middle name. We'd never talked about using it but I was in surgery when they came to ask for her name so he said "Macie Marie".

HuskerMom replied: We were thinking about baby names right when we started TTC about 6 years ago. Keith was one name we thought of and it just stuck. There was several other names that we liked but we kept going back to Keith. His middle name is Allen which is Dh and my FIL's middle name.

If we have another boy someday I want to use Dean for a middle name cuz that's my dad's middle name. If we had a girl I'd like to use Lee as a middle name cuz that's my middle name and it was my grandpa's first name.

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Samuel William
Samuel - we both like the name. (and DH LOVES Sammy Hagar. LOL)
William - my Dad's first name and DH's Dad's first name.

Abigail Cecelia
Abigail - we both like the name. (Abby has been one of my favorite names for years and years)
Cecelia - My Mom's middle name and her Mom's first name.

redplaydoh replied: We chose names that were easy to pronounce and spell because in the US our last name got butchered most of the time. DH and I have 5 letters in our first name and we wanted to have names for the boys (if possible) with 5 letters also. We didn't want to name them after anyone in the family for fear of leaving someone out if we were only able to have one child, and the names weren't so nice to choose from anyway. Grandfather's names were Heinrich, Gottleib from DH's side.

We also knew we'd most likely end up in Switzerland so we wanted names easily pronounced in both languages.

Lucas Reiner (Reiner because I liked that name and it was a friend of DH's)
Bryan Markus (Bryan was a friend of mine back in high school)

Mommy2Isabella replied: Isabella Marie - we wanted something Itallian, that had a good meaning behind it. Isabella is the Itallian form of Elizabeth which means consecrated to god. Marie is my Aunts middle name.

lovemy2 replied: Olivia was from a poster of Olivia Newton John that was hanging in Applebee's when were discussing names - Faye - is after my father who died in 2000 - his name was Fayette Laverne - we always joked with him and told him we wouldn't name a grandchild after him but I love Faye (that is what they called him) so we used it as Olivia's middle name...

Dylan is just cause we really like Dylan (and I like the character Dylan on General Hospital - I think he is soo cute) and Edward is FIL's first name and DH's middle name....

boyohboyohboy replied: caleb was initially to be named brandon. I went into labor early and they tried to stop it, and gave me morphine, well I fell asleep and had a dream that i was yelling for this really chubby, blonde haired blue eyed baby, and in the dream i called him caleb, back then hardly anyone used that name, it wasnt one i had heard of before, but when i woke up my water broke and he was born at 34 weeks...perfect.
so his name was caleb jordon, because i felt that God had given me the dream and the name.

jakob levi, is a name we liked, it went well with caleb, and also levi is my dads name

and andrew for the last one, we pulled out of a hat, so to speak, and weston will be the middle name, due to my dhs grandmas name.

but names can come from all over i think and mean just as much i dont think it always needs to be a family name.

lisar replied: I picked Lexi cause I liked the name. Her middle name is my mothers middle name. Vee. So she was named Lexi Vee.

Raygen was named that because dh picked it. I wanted to name her Olivia but he didnt. So I made him let me give her that for her middle name. Thats how we came up with her name

If Lexi was a boy her name was gona be Tristan Bailey
If Raygen was a boy her name was gona be Logan ??? we never picked a middle name.

mom21kid2dogs replied: We're in the "we just liked it" category. Our only dilemma was in what order to name her~ Olivia Kathryn or Kathryn Olivia.

luvbug00 replied: Last min name here blush.gif

mya was supposed to be aboy, Derek nicholas stetson ___
but we came up last min with, Mya daniella marie ___

but my next kids are in for it Lars has some crazy name ideas rolleyes.gif

Danalana replied: Ours are mostly names we like. Richard hardly likes anything...he definitely doesn't like anything out of the ordinary *sigh*.
For a girl, we have chosen Audrey Clare
Bor a boy, Ira Cade. Ira is FIL and Richard's first name, and we would call him Cade. My father's middle name is Lane, which I love...but I'm not over the moon about my father, so we'll see if I ever use it. I love lots of names, and I guess I get to name the next girl myself. Richard only liked Audrey rolleyes.gif I really like the name "Justice" for a boy...I have personal reasons for it. BUT, what if he became a supreme court justice? "Justice Justice Boman" emlaugh.gif

coasterqueen replied: We wanted our children to have 'original' names so no family names here.

We chose the names because we liked them.

kit_kats_mom replied: I liked the names and I especially liked that they each had nickname potential. There was no way to make a nickname from my name and it really bummed me out in HS. rolling_smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: Kaitlin Nicole

Kaitlin after a main char. on a tv movie (played by tiffiany amber theison) (and DH did not like it at first but it grw on him)

Nicole it was the only name on the list that went with everything.

She had a middle name long before the first name.

then it was down to 2 names, our original name Stormy Nicole or Kaitlin Nicole

I also loved Kaitlin cause of all the nemas she could go by, Kat is what turned DH on to the name, he woudl love it if she would go by Kat.

tammyhopkins replied: I named my son Joshua Dean because ever since i can remember i loved the name joshua just a cute name for a boy and can be shortened. Dean well i am not a fan but they needed somethign on the birth certificate and DH chose it.

We have a dog named Jade because i said i will never have a girl so i used my favorite girl name on her LOL

moped replied: I have always loved the name Jack and he has 2 middle names
Thomas is his middle name, which is my DH
Vegsig is a Danish surname that is now middle names - boy or girl they get that lovely middle name!

And I think Jack is a fun and grown up name

MoonMama replied: Braedin is pretty much just a name we both loved.

Evan is Alec's middle name too. thumb.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I wanted a fairly uncommon name.

Mackenzie ~ because I liked it

Rae~ because it sounded good with the first name

BabyOwen427 replied: Owen is my grandmother's maiden name and Reed is DH & FIL's middle name. They were named Reed after FIL's uncle Reed who fought in WWII in Germany.

When we were picking out names before we knew DS was a boy we liked Alexis for a girl. And since I am a sixth generation Elizabeth I have to name my first daughter Something Elizabeth. So if we get a girl she will be Alexis Elizabeth.

For other boy names I also like Wyatt, Edward (my gpa's name), Mason (my bro and dad's middle), Jack, and Curtis (my DH's name).

3xsthefun replied: Kaitlynn Michelle- Kaitlynn was a name we saw in a baby book and we liked it, Michelle is my husband's sisters middle name.

Maegan Marie- again Maegan was name that we liked and Marie is my middle name.

Ryan Joseph- I have liked the name Ryan for a few years now and my husband happened to also like it. Joseph was my husband's grandfathers name.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Troy and his dad's initials are both TJ. Troy wanted to keep the TJ going, hence, Tanner James. All 3 have James for the middle name as well. With Aiden, we used Marc as the middle name because it is my father's middle name, thus, Aiden Marc. So, each boy is named after a grandfather on each side to a point.

lesliesmom replied: Leslie Rose - Leslie was DH's Grandfather's middle name; Rose was my grandma's name

Christopher Joseph - We liked Christopher; Joseph because just about every male in both our families have the name Joseph someway, somehow.

Lindsay Elizabeth - Lindsay just because we liked it (but if you ask my mom it was to make her crazy with the similarity between Leslie and Lindsay); Elizabeth as a nod to DH's Aunt Betty.

stella6979 replied: When I was younger, I was a fan of the show Murphy Brown and when she named her son Avery, I just fell in love with the name. However, I thought it sounded more feminine so we used it for our daughter's name. We chose Sophia as her middle name cause we both like the name and thought it went well with Avery.

ZandersMama replied: This is going to be long lol

Zander Daniel Anthony-
Zander his father picked
Daniel is after my uncle danny
Anthony is after a man I use to work with. I worked in high school in a hospital unit after school, helping to feed the patients. I met a great man, Tony. As I was leaving one day he grabbed my arm and asked would I please name my first born son after him.I said sure tony, what ever and laughed it off. When I came into work the next day he had passed away.

Zavier Adam James
Zavier his dad picked
Adam is for my little brother
James is after my dad ( and well with a lst name like bond, we had to have a James in there lol )

Calimama replied: I'm Italian. DH wanted a little girl first really bad. Miabella is "My beauty".. (girl).

stella6979 replied:
What a sad, but sweet story. That was so nice of you to honor his wish.

A&A'smommy replied: Alyssa because I really liked it and Faith from Faith, Hope and Love

Calimama replied:
bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif Great story.

Cece00 replied: They are mostly just names I liked...

Ross Edward- I just liked Ross, and Edward is my ex's mn, we were looking in a baby book & I saw it & I just liked it...not common AT ALL

Evan Alexander- I just liked Evan and Alexander is a name my ex really liked, he wanted to use it as a first name but I think Alex is too common, and he tried to use it as a mn for my older son (Ross) who he actually wanted to name Phoenix...thank god I didnt give into that...

Natalie Grace- Again, a name I really liked, I just think its really pretty & feminine and not overly used. And DH has a crush on Natalie Portman rolling_smile.gif so he loved the name, too, and I wanted the middle name Claire, but he hated that name, and loved the mn Grace, and since I got the first name pick (Natalie), I said OK.

John Patrick, Jr.- This is the only one named after anyone, and that is my DH of course. He is the Sr. I had a bunch of names I thought were so cute but he was really adamant that we name our first son after him, so I agreed, as long as we could use a nickname. The only nickname we could agree on was Jack. So there you go.

moped replied:
I didn't know that your Jack was John - cool!

My Jack is just Jack!

grapfruit replied:
I love the name Jack BTW.

I love Jackson Michael but it's so close to Michael Jackson that I don't know... unsure.gif

Cece00 replied:
I know, most people dont, because we have NEVER referred to him as John.

The funniest part is when we go to like the Dr's office, they have him on file as "John Patrik K, Jr" and when its his turn, they come out and say

"John?"

*silence*

"John K?"

and I'm like "OH, thats us." rolling_smile.gif

We never refer to him as John, so sometimes I forget that is his real name. Poor kid, he'll probably be all confused when he goes to school & they try to call him John at first. laugh.gif

Danalana replied: laugh.gif

lovemy2 replied: I am a HUGE fan of the name Jack it is such a manly name but so cute for a little boy also - it just sounds boy - JACK - but our last name is Johnson so my husband refused to have Jack Johnson - he thought it sounded dumb - I tried to intice him with the fact that there is a famous football player named Jack Johnson and DH is a huge football fan but he didn't go for it....

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
Me too Cary! It sounds silly but I've always wished my name had more variations. blush.gif I've always just been plain old Sara.

Andrew we picked the week before he was born - we were trying to decide between Noah and Daniel and neither of them seemed to fit. Andrew was a name we talked about really briefly early in my pregnancy. happy.gif His middle name, James, is FIL's middle name and also just a name that Dh liked.

Alison Carrie I've had picked out since I was 13. blush.gif My childhood best friend's name is Carrie Alyson, and I've always loved both names.

skinkybaby replied: Grace Avery- my husband and I were both named after people- first and middle names- so we decided to make our first child a complete "original" and not name her after anyone. She was originally going to be Avery Grace, but my husband asked if we could switch it around so he could call her Gracie. So we did!

Caroline Suzanne- I always loved the song Sweet Caroline when i was growing up and had wished it was my name so someone would sing the song to me. And Suzanne is my middle name and a variation of a family name that goes way back.

Kentuckychick replied: Dana I just wanted to say that I really love both of the names you have chosen... especially Audrey Clare... they are both great names wub.gif

As far as names go for me my top choices right now are;
For girls,
- Emerson *Emma* Grace (Emerson is a family name and I've always loved Grace)
- Christine Elizabeth (Christine after my hero Christi Thomas and Elizabeth because I love that name)

For boys,
- Liam Douglas (Liam because I love it and it's Scotish and Douglas is a family name)

Jackie012007 replied: Carly Evelyn is a spin on DF's name, Carl Eugene. His name is Carl Eugene the 3rd, and I didn't want ANOTHER Carl - it's annoying at Christmas to say Carl and have half the room look up! laugh.gif

So I came up with Carly as a compromise - Evelyn is Carl's grandma's name, and Carly has the same initials as Carl - CEG.

If we have a boy next, we may name him Jack - the male version of my name. Gonna have a hard time finding a masculine name starting with an I though, my middle name is Irene Mae!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: My children sort of named themselves actually. Jade's middle name was always going to be Rose. We were hust not sure what her first name was going to be. Then one day her dad said how about Jade. I had to think about it a sec, but she liked the name because she actually moved after he said it. It was Jade Rose from that day forward.

I got Jordan Elizabeth during the u/s to determine the sex. I knew from Jade's what I girl looked like on an u/s so when the tech finally went to check I was like hey that's a girl and her name is Jordan Elizabeth. The name just sort of popped into my head. So in a sense my girls named themselves.

jcc64 replied: Alec Charles- I let my girlfriend pick it when she was drunk at a bachelorette party. I told her whatever she came up with, I'd use it. thank god it was something I could live with! Charles was my grandpa's name.
Noah Michael- I like the Biblical story and ironically, he does have a very strong bond with animals. Michael is my brother's name
And Corey Jean- because we could use if for a boy or a girl. Jean was my dad's name (as well as mine)

luvmykids replied:
I love Jack too, it was my great grandpas name and I agree, it's so BOY laugh.gif

I know a guy named John Johnson tongue.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: My dh and I could not come to agreement on many girl names, there was a short list of first and middle names in combination (literally 5 in total) that we agreed upon.
(Kellie) Our youngest's middle name is in memory of my MIL's angel in heaven who died sometime within the 24hours of before being born.
