You know you're a Redneck when...

A&A'smommy replied: hmmmmmm
sparkys2boys replied: Oh my .. hmm roadkill and dinner all in the same thought
lisar replied: I sooo feel ya there Crystal. Dh's bestfriend shot 2 over the weekend.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Mmmm, deer meat. I haven't had deer in a while.
Ps - I don't consider that redneck... redneck would have been stopping and loading it to take home.
Crystalina replied: DH got 3 so far but the first two weren't very big. The last one was bigger then the first two put toghether and she had ALOT of fat on her. I heard that means we're going to have a bad winter. Lovely.
We take ours and have beef fat added into it. I don't like the wild taste so the beef make it more cow tasting. We save SOOOO much money stocking up on deer.
Crystalina replied: Ok, I've never actually stopped and picked one up but our neighbor did hit one last year and picked it up and brought it to us. He eats deer but had way too many at his house and no room for it so state trooper let us have it. We only got a few last year because that was before I knew you could add the beef fat to it. I would eat it without but too much was too much.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Taking the one you hit (well, him..) home is different than just driving by and taking some dead deer on the side of the road home.
If I hit a deer, you BET I'm taking it home.
Crystalina replied: I would now but when I hit my one and only deer (about 8 yrs ago) I wasn't into eating them at all. I actually sat on the side of the road and cried and cried because I felt so bad. I called the Sheriff to come and kill him (because I had only broken every leg he had ). The Sheriff didn't want to because he told me (can you believe!!! ) that if he shot the deer he would have to do paperwork on the bullet. I wanted to strangle him and I told him that he needed to do something because we couldn't just leave him like that and he finally shot him. What an idiot. I mean really! To leave an animal there to suffer like that because you don't want to do paperwork???
But now it wouldn't bother me to have someone help me load him up because we eat them. It's a waste to let them just lay there and rot. If anything there are always places that will take the venicen (sp?) and hand it out to the needy.
lisar replied: Oh yea we add pork fat to it when we have it grounded up. I have a recipe book just for venison. DH marks them as to which ones he wants me to cook.
Crystalina replied: Is the pork fat good also? I like deer as long as it doesn't taste like deer. I'm sure that makes no sense but I guess the reason I like it is because it's free and I'm cheap like that.
redchief replied: Our police department has a .22 they use for "nuisance and injured animal kills." There is still paperwork but it's not as bad as if it would have been if they'd used their sidearm. Don't ask me what the big difference is, it just is.
MoonMama replied:
I'm sorry but EWWWW!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: No 'round here THAT woulda been Hillbilly!
