TANNER'S MOM wrote: Okay I went down this morning to feed and mess with animals. I noticed the new show rabbit I just bought Saturday was molting and needed brushed. I brought him up to the house and was really impressed w/ how gentle he was. Dh and I played w/ him for a few hours today. He is/was a Velveteen and I just loved his feel. Again he was so gentle. While holding him I noticed he had a snotty nose. I was worried that they would all get it, so I kept him up in the house all day. I went and got all water bottles, and feeders and bleached them. I took bleach to all the cages this afternoon. I mean it was hard work to clean everything in a barn w/ bleach. But I wanted to be sure my other rabbits didn't get it b/c Tanner is taking them to the District Fair in 2 weeks.
I call the vet and they tell me they don't really do rabbits, they consider them exotic animals blah blah blah and I have to go thru a bunch of crap. Finally another vet calls my vet and gives the medication I need and the dosage. I have to go to the vet and pick up the antibotics and get enough to treat the whole barn if I don't want them sick. As soon as Tanner gets off the bus I am ready to go. He hasn't even made it in the house b/c I have to hurry before the vet closes.
Tanner jumps in the car and off we go. Get the meds and come home. I come in and get the medicine dropper, go to the barn and guess what...
I HAVE NO RABBIT.. Just another EMPTY CLOSED CAGE!
Again I looked every where. NO RABBIT. I walked the whole pasture and yard for signs that my dogs some how did something houdini like and no rabbit, no fur, no blood, but NO RABBIT. The cage was completely closed. AGAIN.
This is my 4th rabbit and I am more and more livid. And especially if someone took it b/c it needs medication! What the heck. I mean it was a nice rabbit but their were nicer. And why my rabbits. Chickens stay here forever. We have nice show chickens too, but nothing every happens to them!
Where O Where are all my rabbits??
MommyToAshley replied: That's just weird. Do you have a camera (even a cheapy that connects to your computer) that you can run to your barn? If so, I'd hook it up and try to find out what is happening to your rabbits. That is just bizarre.
kit_kats_mom replied: oooh a bunny napper That's just crazy. Did you ever find out if it was the neighbor kid? I'd be really mad too.
moped replied: Are you serious????? This is crazy. What do you think???
Nina J replied: That;s insane. Have you considered contacting the police? Or maybe even putting some flyers up? It might be a long stretch but if you can put some info up around your local town, someone might call you to say there neighbour got a rabbit recently that is similar to yours or something.
I'm sorry this has been happening. I like the idea of hooking up a camera in your barn. I can't believe the nerve of some people to just walk right on to your property and take your animals
mckayleesmom replied: I would be contacting the police Mel.
gr33n3y3z replied: I would put a lock on those bunny cages and call the police this way if it is the neighbor kid he will see you mean business
luvbug00 replied: call the poliece and get yourself some webcams out there. that is just wierd and sad too (cuz the bunny was sick )
luvmykids replied: O.M.G!!!!!! It's more obvious now that it HAS to be a person I agree with calling the cops and I'm so sad they took a sick bunny who needs medicine
lisar replied: I agree with getting some camera's out there. Something that will record just in case your arent home. Or maybe locking up the barn when your not in it. I know its easier said than done
Kaitlin'smom replied: poor bunny, someone is taking them, time to get some cameras down there. so sorry this happend again
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well my Dh has wired the barn to look like Fort Knox or a prison. There is barb wire all along the top where you have to duck your head and it's hot! I am also getting a Sportman's camera from my Dad that they use in the woods to take pics of wildlife and is snaps at motion.
I did file a police report b/c it's getting stupid! And I think it is someone I know b/c I was only gone for 30-45 minutes tops yesterday.
Calimama replied: Who the heck steals rabbits!? Awful!!
A&A'smommy replied: OMG that is so weird!!! I would be livid!!!
bawoodsmall replied: I hope you find the bunny napper. Uh...I am in such a hate people mood today and people who steal bunnies is at the top of my list.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I was going to suggest one of those cameras Keep us posted on what you find out!
CantWait replied: That's just rediculous!!!!!!! Someone has A LOT of nerve. I hope you get to the bottom of the BUNNY nappers.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I know I have been mad for 2 darn days and saying really bad words. I just don't know who the heck would nap bunnies. It's kind of wierd.
We have so many funnier things to still. Tools, 4 Wheelers, guns, horses, tack, but some how they take bunnies. I guess I am lucky..but still!
stella6979 replied: I know nothing about Rabbit cages, but would there be a way for you to padlock them or something? I'm guessing that might be pretty time consuming though to unlock them all? I think it's pretty sad that you have to practically turn your barn into a prison to make sure they are safe. I sure do hope you find out what's going on.
Crystalina replied: That's what happened to over 75 of our Bob White quail. Came home to a closed cage and not a sign of a bird in sight. I think someone took your rabbit.
redchief replied: Could he have been taken by the competition?
grapfruit replied: That makes me wonder if its not a kid. B/c what would a kid be interested in? The rabbit. Not all the expensive stuff...
TANNER'S MOM replied: Yes I think it was a kid, but WHICH kid is the question. It has to be someone I know, who my dogs know. I am sure they are just letting them go. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the 4th one. I mean the first one was a mystery. The 2nd... I went HUMM, the 3rd was my mama who left a litter and now the one was sick! I am getting really tired of rabbit nappers! Who would've thunk it!
sparkys2boys replied: Yikes.. what a dilema??? Hope you find out what is going on soon
My2Beauties replied: What the heck Mel. I believe you definitely have a bunny napper on your hands and it does sound like a kid! I hope you find your bunnies soon.
mckayleesmom replied: You should set some bear traps around the barn.... ....Ok..that was kind of mean, but I bet they would learn their lesson as well as their ability to walk for a while.
