Yipppeeee! I got my new digital camera

MommyToAshley wrote: I am excited, I have been without a camera for a few weeks. Glad I can take pics again. I ended up going with a digital SLR. Here are my first pics with the camera (my favorite subject, of course smile.gif) I am still learning my way around the camera, and I am only using the kit lens, but I just thought I would share.

mom2my2cuties replied: She is so absolutley beautiful! Looks like you got a great camera!

Calimama replied: Good job! She's a cutie.

Jamison'smama replied: Yea!! We got ours too. What did you end up getting? The pictures (and subject) are beautiful!

MommyToAshley replied: Oh, here's one more... I was messing with the zoom and zoomed in jsut a little too far. Ooops.

(Never mind the dirty nails... she had been finger painting...LOL)

sparkys2boys replied: Yahhh!! Good for you!!! The pics are great and the little one is sooooo cute!!

3xsthefun replied: Those are great pics! She is beautiful!

Looks like you got a good camera!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Dee Dee I have only been here for just over a yr, and it is silly to say this because.. frankly it happens to all of our children sad.gif -- but Ashley is getting so big- so grown up looking. She looks as though she is getting taller, too. Is she?

Oh and great pics btw! thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
I went with the Canon Rebel XTi

What did you get? How do you like it? Let's see some pics!!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: Looks great and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the one where you said you zoomed in to far, I dont think you did at all. I LOVE it!

gr33n3y3z replied: Ashley is so beautiful
In pic number 5 what did she see?
It looks like what ever it was she liked it a lot

Jamison'smama replied:
We got the SAME camera!!. Let me resize some and I will post what I have. I am pretty amateur at this point. I just use the auto setting.

MommyToAshley replied: Oh, I just finished downloading the last one.

mom2my2cuties replied: Oh Dee Dee that last one is my absolute favorite!!!!

MommyToAshley replied:
How cool is that! I am pretty amateur myself. Did you stick with the kit lens or did you buy extra lenses? The lens selection is pretty over-whelming. I decided to get my feet wet with the kit lens first.

I can't wait to see your pics. thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
Not silly at all... and I totally agree. She has completely lost her baby look compared to last year. bawling.gif They grow up so fast!!!! And, yes, she is taller. I had to buy all new pants for her as she has outgrown them all.

Our Lil' Family replied: Wow, that takes GREAT pics! What is SLR?

MommyToAshley replied:
I think she was actually trying to blow the cattails. LOL.

MommyToAshley replied:
SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. In this sort of camera one lens is used for both focusing and taking the picture... the image in the viewfinder is the same as that actually captured. My main reason for moving up to an SLR is that there was no shutter lag and it takes 3 frames per second. You don't get that delay from the time you hit the button to the time it takes the picture. I am still very new with this camera, I've seen some amazing pictures taken with it and I hope to master only half that skill. Which is why I went with the Canon XTi... it seemed to be the easiest for an amateur like me. laugh.gif

coasterqueen replied: Awesome pics Dee Dee. I wanted a SLR so badly when we picked a new camera last year but Dh told me they don't do video, is that correct? I don't use my vid cam anymore and just use the video on my camera because I always have my camera handy. I still want a SLR. tongue.gif

Our Lil' Family replied:
Well that is what I need. There is such an annoying delay on my camera between pictures...it drives me NUTS!

A&A'smommy replied: awww how nice!! those are beautiful pictures, she is so beautiful!! wub.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: Beautiful pics!!!

MommyToAshley replied:
No, this one does not take video. I am not sure if that is true for all SLR's or not. DH also picked up a a small pocket size digital camera (that does video) as we will not be taking the Canon to places like Kings Island or places where it may be damaged easily. It's a big investment for me and I would cry if anything happened to it.

I have found that the combo camera/video digicams do a "good" job with both video and pictures, but when you buy equipment that specializes in either just video or just photos then you get better quality results. But, You do lose the convenience of having both in one unit.

I wanted a camera that took great photos and to get the quality I wanted, and the speed, I decided to go this route. The lack of video was not a deterent for me and even though I am still learning, I am pleased with the results so far. It all comes down to a matter of personal preference... what's most important to you and what you want out of your camera.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Great pictures Dee Dee! thumb.gif I'm glad you found a camera you like. Dh would like for me to have an SLR but I'm content for him to have his and me to have my little pocket digital. laugh.gif I know what you mean about not wanting to take it places ~ Dh takes his camera with him whenever we go anywhere, and it's kind of nerve wracking. wacko.gif He has a Canon 10D. He's always carrying it into stores with us too because he doesn't want to leave it in the car. tongue.gif

CantWait replied: Great pictures Dee Dee, and the subject is gorgeous. wub.gif
