Wow - the Da Vinci Code....

cameragirl21 wrote: just heard on the E channel that Dan Brown, author of the Da Vinci Code made 100 million dollars last year, wow, just wow.
Anyone read that book?
i saw the movie, then read the book and really like both but i think the book was better and explained a lot the movie left out.
Anyone else liked the book or movie?

grapfruit replied: I've not yet seen the movie, but the book was GREAT! I've read a few others by Dan Brown also. He's a great author...

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I read the book and am currently halfway through the DVD. Every time I put it in, Logan comes upstairs and sits on my lap and says (VERY loudly), "Don't want this!" over and over until I turn it off. Then he hands me his movie and says, "Wannu watch Mickey." It's a Christmas Mickey Mouse movie and he won't part with it. Doesn't help that I'm in the middle of a 7on and I'm too tired to watch it after he goes to bed. I guess I'll wait until my first day off and watch it during nap time.
I am a firm believer that the book is always better than the movie. There is just more time to expand on themes and characters in a book. So, I'll probably be disappointed by the movie, I usually am. Don't even get me started on The Count of Monte Cristo. growl.gif rolling_smile.gif

cameragirl21 replied: what is a 7 on, 7 straight days of working?
what do you do again? you're in the medical field, right? a nurse or something?

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
My official title is "Hematology Specialist, Clinical Lab Scientist". I even can put initials after my name, ie Kelly T________ MT(ASCP). I work in a hospital lab. And yes, 7on is part of my schedule. I work 7 10 hour days in a row then have 7 days off. It seems awful, but in my opinion, I have the best of two worlds, for 1 week, I am a working mommy, for the second week, I'm a SAHM.

cameragirl21 replied: so what kind of work do you do and what kind of degree do you need in order to do it?
i must say, if i had 7 straight 10 hour days i'd be too tired to be a sahm the following week and would probably need at least one full day to recuperate.
i must be a weakling or a china doll....

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I read it a couple years ago and really like it. I then went and got his other books and read those too...by teh last one I knew who th e"bad guy" was jsut because all of his books seem to follow the same pattern iykwim

I am in no way surprised about how much he made. With the lawsuit everyone was trying to buy his book and no one seemed to be able to keep it in stock

My3LilMonkeys replied: Loved the book, won't even watch the movie. I feel movies are never as good as the book, so it would only make me mad to watch the movie. tongue.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
I run blood counts, coagulation tests, urine analysis. That's my focus now, I can also do microbiology testing, blood chemistry testing, and blood banking. I have a Bachelor's of Science, Medical Technology. The 10 hour shifts aren't so bad, but I do have to say that by day 6 I'm dragging butt. It actually helps that I have to get up at 5am to be at work by 6 because when Logan sleeps until 7am it feels like sleeping in. And I think all moms are exhausted. It just goes with the territory.

mckayleesmom replied: We bought the movie and I really liked it....I avoided it for a while because Im not into religious readings and movies that much.....but I really enjoyed it.

Cece00 replied: I saw the move and read the book. I liked the book better.

C&K*s Mommie replied: I've neither seen the movie nor read the book.

CantWait replied: Read the book and saw the movie. WOW is all I can say. I can't wait till Angels and Demons comes out in the theatres, I've already read that book also, and it was so much better then Da Vinci Code.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Read the book and liked it a lot...saw the movie afterward and didn't care for it as much.

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
I was actually going to say that I thought Angels and Demons was a better book and I'm curious to see how they bring that one to the big screen.

I actually just recently read The Da Vinci Code and I like both the book and the movie. I really liked how they did the ending in the movie.

sparkys2boys replied: Me and DH actually just watched the movie a few nights ago, I really liked it.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Uh, I have the Angels and Demons dvd.... ?!

huh.gif

I agree - loved loved loved the book. And surprisingly, the movie was relatively close enough not to tick me off. tongue.gif

grapfruit replied:
How's that? Is the one they're making w/Tom Hanks a remake then?

kristy-n-chad replied: Great comedy for a work of fiction.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
I have no idea... it was a pretty boring dvd really.... no tom hanks...... unsure.gif

CantWait replied:
Must be a different one then. Does it reflect on the book? Does it look like this.....

Angels and Demons DVD

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Yes.

Ok, my confusion is prompting me to go dig it out and take a look at EXACTLY what it is. rolleyes.gif
