Would you be embarrassed???

Nina J wrote: Would you be embarrassed if you first name was pronounced 'Kite'????

DH came up with the bright idea of naming our next child 'Kite', which is how my surname is pronounced (although not spelt)..Anyway, I think it's kind of wacky..DH thinks I'm wacky for thinking it's wacky, so I'm trying to convince him I'm right emlaugh.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: i dont know that i would want my name to be kite....
but there are worse names out there.

hawkshoe replied: I have an unusual first name and as a child, I can tell you I hated it. I often wished I could change my name to Kathy...lol. As a adult, I have come to appreciate it, but I would never name my child something that was really unusual.

Simplebeliever replied:
For me, my feelings toward my "unusual" name would depend on the circumstances of how & why that particular name was chosen for me. If it had a really beautiful meaning or was in honor of a family member I think I wouldn't be embarassed by it.

my2monkeyboys replied: I have a plain name, so no personal experience with an unusual one. However, I don't think I'd name my child Kite... or Apple, or Pilot Inspektor, or anyting else that different. But that's just me. tongue.gif I'm sure she'll "be" her name, and be beautiful whatever her name!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well, there's a Rainbow, Sunbeam, River, Phoenix, Cloud, Apple... I'm sure "kite" would fit right in.

Sorry, I don't mean to laugh... tongue.gif

It's a very nice idea though, to have your child's name be like your surname. My maiden name is "Adam", and we used to talk about having our next son's name be Adam, since I'm one of the few on my dad's side of the family that carried that name... so it would be like a tribute.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Would you pronounce it Kite, like the kind you fly? Or since you said your surname is not pronounced like that, would you pronounce it like your surname? wacko.gif laugh.gif Did that make any sense? laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied: could be worse...just look at some of the names of celebrity kids like Apple or some other weird ones...you could pronounce it differently too but it is totally you and you DH decision, but there are worse names out there

Nina J replied:
My surname is pronounced 'kite', it's not spelt like that, it's spelt Keyte. But I might give it some thought, there's plenty of time and DH and I will most likely come up with another name happy.gif

Donna027 replied: Its sort of cute and unusual but I dont think I personally would like my name to be Kite. Like other people have said on here there are worse names out there

1lilpeanut2love replied:
iagree.gif!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wink.gif

moped replied: Well - I think you are right here.....kinda like Tom wanting to name another child Thor.....

sparkys2boys replied: do whatever makes you guys feel good.. don't worry about other people, once they hear the name a few times and see the child with it.. they would say it fits!! Let us know what you decide!

A&A'smommy replied: not so much embarressed as I would be worried about my child being made fun of for the rest of her life... it would be different if it was a middle name though. JMO

Nina J replied:
I wouldn't mind it for a middle name, just a first name would be weird. Plus, I like the name's Ciaran or Jake for a boy, so I want to use one of those (if we have a boy).
Anyway, I'm going to convince DH Keyte isn't good for a first name, but it's okay for a middle name..then I have to convince him Addison is a better girls name than Sasha laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied:
I wanted to name Tanner that but got vetoed laugh.gif
