mummy2girls wrote: I know all of us have job because being a fulltime moms is hard work in it self...but i was wondering...for the moms that do have other jobs..what do you do? I am just curious...

here ill start...i am a fulltime mom to jenna(i bring her to work with me) and I also work with a disabled 4 year old girl fulltime also...

Jamison'smama replied: I am also a full time mom but in the evenings I work very part time as a child and family therapist-- only about 5 clients/sessions a week.

coasterqueen replied: I'm a WOHM and I work as a business manager for a non-profit insurance association. Our association lobbies for property/casualty insurance companies. blush.gif

I do everything from accounts payable/receivable, human resources, political action committee stuff, to legislation work, etc, etc, etc. I wear a zillion different hats.

We are 2 man show here, the executive director and I, so we do it all. We have one other lady who works with us who runs the hotline for consumers.

kit_kats_mom replied: I work at home and I process the students in Missouri for medicaid eligibility. Lots of database stuff.

jen replied: I am a soon to be full time mommy! does that count?? LOL! I work at an Architectural Engineering Consulting Firm. I am a technical writer/proofer of architectural reports and environmental assessments. Most of the time I just play because I have learned so many short cuts in this line of work! LOL! It is either really busy or really slow for me so I have a lot of down time. I haven't decided if I am going to come back full time, most likey not!

* OH and I also work with Rescue horses for non profit so they can find families instead of going to the slaughter house smile.gif . I also give riding lessons in my spare time and train horses (just haven't been on one since I got pregnant)! But if I don't go back to work I will do that for spending money and great exercise!! LOL!

booey2 replied: I work out of the home at a party rental company and spend my day infront of the computer, we have 7 sales associates who take the orders and give them to me to input into the computer. I also do a ton of administrative stuff for the boss and anyone else that needs it. I also am backup for the receptionist. We are a family run business and one of the biggest in Toronto. I am also currently helping to research a new computer program/system. Then I go home to my second job cleaning/caring/loving my 3 boys. rolling_smile.gif

Schnoogly replied: Well I sort of WAH/WOH...I am a PhD student writing my dissertation. Sometimes I also teach university, but not this semester. And I'm on sabbatical from my job as assistant director of our writing center.

jcc64 replied: I am a textile designer on salary with a design firm in NYC, although I work primarily at home on the computer. I design artwork to be reproduced on home furnishings such as upholstery, bedding, table linens, etc.

jen replied:
Wow that sound really cool!!! I would love to do something like that! I love designing and brainstorming ideas to go on bedding etc etc!!! I even take pictures of my rooms in my house sometimes and go on to sonic image maker and change all the patterns to see what I can make! I am weird I am sure!! But that is really neat!

jem0622 replied: I am a Tech Editor/Publications Coordinator for a Government Contractor. I WOH. DH, who is a SAHD, works nights at two different jobs to help make ends meet.

natjasem replied: Exercise Specialist in a cardiology practice in Kansas City

DansMom replied: I manage a staff of copy editors/proofreaders of higher level mathematics. I started out as a staff copy editor and took on the manager position six years ago.

amynicole21 replied: I'm a buyer at a huge sporting goods wholesaler. smile.gif

maliksmommy replied: I'm a processor for a mortgage co.

aspenblue1 replied: I work customer service for a credit card company and go to school.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

I'm with Jen~That is so awesome!! Do you enjoy your job?

I am SAHM/WAHM (before getting pg). I had my own company sewing things for boutique baby stores by order. So, pretty much anything they asked me to make I did it. From bibs to burp cloths to blankets. I also took special orders from customers for baby bedding. It took a lot of time and I don't think I will go back to it. I'm running out of room in this house. blush.gif

maestra at work replied: Wow....my job sounds so simple in comparison to everyone else's......

I'm a kindergarten teacher (which can be way more complicated than it sounds! lol)

And I'm a very part time master's degree student.

mummy2girls replied: WOW! These cool careers we all have.

MommyToAshley replied: I am a WAHM.. DH and I run our own business. We do web site design, custom programming, database development, custome applications... if it involves any kind of programming, we do it. We just passed the 5 year mark for being in business for ourselves! horray.gif

Since it is only DH and I, we both wear a lot of hats. I do all the graphic design (some of our clients are ad agencies so this is not always needed). I also do most of the HTML for new web sites and handle the mainenance on existing web sites. I handle account management including sales calls, presentations/meetings with clients, and I do most of the quotations/proposals (although DH and I do the larger proposals together). I also handle the billing and the general accounting.

DH is the techie... he does all of the hard core programming. He's done a lot of database programming and some really neat programs for some large companies. I am really proud of him. (Any advanced programming is beyond me and I have no interest in learning it! smile.gif ) He also handles the administration/support on our web server. And, on occasion, he has helped a few clients with hardware installs and set-up a few networks, but he doesn't like to do that kind of work so we don't advertise that. smile.gif It's been more of a courtesy to our existing clients that really don't want to use anyone else.

juliajaj replied: I'm a documentation specialist. My primary responsibilities are to develop and maintain 3 internal web sites, write online documentation for computer system applications and write marketing articles promoting the computer system. I work from home 4 days a week & report into the corporate office 1/2 day a week, so I love the work at home option. The company I work for has a rule that you must have daycare while you're working at home (either in the home or out of the home) for your children, so DD is at a daycare provider's home 10 minutes away (she loves it). DH & I work for the same company, in the same department, so it's nice when I go into the corporate office that we usually go out to lunch together.

jcc64 replied: To your comments regarding my job as a textile designer, I have to admit, it really is a fun job. I've been at the same company since 1987(!) b/c I enjoy it so much. It's changed alot, now everything is done on the computer, which was hard to get used to at 1st, but has enabled me to stay home with all my kids.
DeeDee, dh does the same thing. Way too tech savvy for me. I can run my little CAD system and graphics applications, but beyond that, I'm clueless.

victoire2002 replied: I am a writer and business consultant. I worked for many years in advertising and marketing, and I have MBA and degrees in English and International Law.

I am half French, so my language skills have come in handy these days. I am working with one of my long-time advertising clients, doing freelance writing / translation projects. It allows me some flexibility, and I get to have some interaction with "grown ups" from time to time. tongue.gif

Above are some links to previous discussions about this topic. I think I said it all there. LOL I believe Parents place on Ivillage has a message board dedicated to WAHM's too.

Good luck.

Good Gravy! I'm retarded. This is supposed to be for the newbie that asked for WAH suggestions. UGH. I will plead preggo brain. rolleyes.gif
