Wish me luck
redchief wrote: I officially started my new job on Thursday. I continue to run EMS, but have begun an approximately six month move to full time fire inspection. The money is better. The hours are normal (or will be when the move is complete), and the opportunity for advancement is much greater. The big drawback is that I'll have less time to spend as fire chief, but the city has assured me that I'll be able devote at least a minimum amount of time to that, even on the clock.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Best of wishes with it. That sounds ideal. Congrats on getting the advancement, and best of luck.
Nina J replied: Good luck
Jamison'smama replied: Lots of luck!

Kaitlin'smom replied: best of luck, my dad went into some of that then got into building codes.
grapfruit replied: Whoo whoo! I'm sure you'll be fine
Oh and as a side note, for some reason your name makes me think of Indians more then firemen....
redchief replied: Thanks for all the well-wishes. They're really appreciated! It's not easy to move into a whole new ballgame at 43, but my body just can't take EMS and plumbing anymore.
As far as my nickname goes, you're not the first person to have said that... I've used this nickname since I became fire chief, the red being my initials. Back in my IRC days I used to get greeted with, "How!", which I found to be rude and insensitive placing myself in a Native American's shoes, but what are you going to do?
luvmykids replied: I think of your nickname as a Scooby Doo version, as in "Ruh Roh, Red!"
Congrats on the new endeavor, I think you'll be a great fire inspector and wish you all the best
