mom2my2cuties replied: Well, it's only working at McDonald's right now. This case is so financially draining. (Flights, hotel and travel expenses are about $1000 each trip) So I had to do something, but because of the hours I am traveling and have to be so flexible, working at something I am good at just wasn't possible.
Anyway, I survived, and no one got strangled. Which was saying something because I have a really hard time with trying to work with someone who speaks absolutely no English whatsoever. And I don't mean that bad but it's hard to work as a team with someone who doesn't understand you at all. I just had to laugh though, when I got there, I got told the Store Supervisor (main manager for the store) was going to up my starting pay by $0.50/hour because I spoke English. Now keep in mind, when you read this, the area I live in really doesn't have a large Hispanic population, and the ones who do live in this area speak very good English. Williamson County and especially Brentwood/Cool Springs where I live is mostly "Professionals" due to the cost of living here (A 1500sqft house can easly run you half a million) so they have a really hard time with customers when thier cashiers don't speak clear English.
My supervisor was happy with me though, was shocked at how fast I picked everything up so that was good.

stella6979 replied: Well congratulations on making it without hurting anyone. However, I must say, that even though you may not be pleased with the job, you shouldn't refer to it as "only working at McDonalds". Heck, it's a job and you're doing what you need to do. Where would we be without all the people who do the jobs noone else wants to do or can't do? I remember when I was a receptionist and someone called in and asked me what my position was and when I said I was "just the secretary" I was nicely informed that I am never JUST a secretary. Take pride in the fact that you have a job (even if it's not your ideal job) and do it the best you can.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Congrats on the immediate pay hike. Best wishes!

holley79 replied: Glad you didn't strangle anyone.
