lovemy2 wrote: I have DH about 1/2 talked into getting a Wii - I think his fear of me beating his butt in boxing is still holding him back - - but anyway I am soo confused as to what to actually buy.......
Those of you who have one - what did you get and how much did it all cost - I want a good starter bundle so we have some games from the get go and also don't know what it comes with KWIM? I also want to know which games give the most exercise???
HELP - I am soo techno retarded its scary
eta - where is the best place to get one from - ebay or a real store
Anthony275 replied: for $250 i got the system and the game that comes with it. wii sports has a fitness and training section to help you "workout" and it tells yo your fitness age. of course as an extra you'll need a remote and another nunchuck for two people- i just got another game that came with another remote (wii play) and got a nunchuck
from a store, i got mine from nintendo world so i cant help much, but to track one, go here
if you're confused, which you probably will be, pm me
kimberley replied: we got ours from walmart and was 260. the sports pack comes with a sports demo, the system, 1 controller, 1 nunchuck. we bought wii play (bunch of family games) that came with a second controller and was about 45. we bought a second nunchuck but don't use it as much. it was 25. the boys got a bunch of games for christmas and dh got guitar hero III after christmas. there really isn't much more to want for. the games are challenging and fun.
austins mom replied: Ebay is nice for stuff. But I would go through a real store to buy one. That way you have warrenty for the stuff. I have an Xbox, Xbox 360. I really want a WII. So good luck at getting one.
Calimama replied: I wouldn't buy it off of Ebay. We went to Toys R US for ours. We got Wii sports and the console for like $250 and then we got an extra controller set and the Wii remote charger so I think our total came to 3 something.
PrairieMom replied: We got ours at walmart, you HAVE to get Wii sports with it, it is so much fun. Then you def. need an extra controller / nunchuck, and if you are super cool you will get guitar hero.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Ebay is OK as long as it's New in Box (make sure they show the receipt in the photo, and make sure it states they're including the receipt - if so, the warranty transfers to you since you're the receipt holder. But you have to watch they didn't buy it a long time ago or your warranty period will be really short)
Otherwise, around here at least, your best bet is to start calling around and see who if anyone still has them in stock - they can still be pretty hard to find in my area. Around $250 is an average price for the basic bundle.
For additional games, if you're looking for fairly easy, fun for the whole family, I recommend Carnival Games or Mario Party 8. If you're looking for something that's really going to get your arms moving - and you don't mind losing, cause it's pretty hard! - get Mario & Sonic at the Olympics.
I forgot my favorite! Wario Ware - it's a good game to get you up and moving.
lovemy2 replied: OK - what is the difference between the controller and the nunchuck? I am getting that I should buy the system, then the sports bundle and an extra controller and an extra nunchuck because it comes with one of each - am I reading through all this correctly? The system comes with one set of family type games???? And grand total should be approx. $300? Gotta sell this correctly so have to do my research!!!
Calimama replied: This is a Nunchuk http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Nunchuck-Co...k/dp/B000IMYKQ0
This is a controller http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Remote-...r/dp/B000IMWK2G
Here's a game that comes WITH a controller http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Play-with-Remote...pd_sim_vg_img_5
You'll need both for some games. It only comes with one set, so if you want to play with DH you'll need to buy those.
Here's some of the games so you can get a feel for what would be best for you guys. http://www.shopping.com/xPP-nintendo_wii_games
Wii sports is included. So if you buy another game and another controller set it'll be like in the $350 range I think.
lovemy2 replied: OH you are the best - thank you Denise - I am sooo close to having him sold on this - thanks to Uncle Sam and our giant tax refund!! And yes we would need two of both so I can beat his you know what at whatever we buy
Calimama replied: I've been working on my bowling skills. I hope to over take DH when he gets home since he's SO cocky.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I think everyone else pretty much covered it. We bought ours at Walmart for $250. It comes with the console, one controller, one nunchuk and the Wii Sports game (which has total of 5 different games). For Xmas, I gave DH the Zelda game ($50) and a Wii points card ($20). DH went out after Xmas and bought an additional nunchuk and controller so that the two of us could play together. Controller I think is $40 and nunchuk is $19.99 or so.
We rented an Olympics game one night from Blockbuster and that was like 20 or so games which gave you a lot of exercise. But just the Wii sports that comes with the console is a TON of fun and will probably be all you need. I would never buy the Olympics game, it was fun, but not that fun.
PrairieMom replied: I was just thinking that another thing that would be beneficial would be a classic controller. once you have your Wii you can download classic games onto your console for really cheap, and you need a classic controller to play those. I have no idea how much $ those are tho.
Anthony275 replied: the classic controller is $20 and used for certain downloaded games only, but every downloaded game can use them
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh that reminds me, DH bought that one too. Yes, it was about $20. I don't think he has used it yet though.
Christine, I would suggest just getting the basic console setup first. I would only get a bundle if you have already tried out a bunch of games somewhere else. Like I said in my last post, we have been renting games from Blockbuster and I haven't really found many I would really like enough to own.
