Why does the sound of?..... - I know it's a stupid question but...

redchief wrote: I know it's a stupid question but I kind of need to know. Why do you think the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard send people into spontaneous chills?

And, is it morally wrong to take advantage of such a sound by purposely creating it even when you know it will send someone through the roof?

Mommy2Isabella replied: HAHAH! It has never really bothered me, though it bothers Sal and I do it sometimes to get him all in a tussy ! HAHAHA

amynicole21 replied: LOL! For me it's that sound they make on TV when testing the emergency broadcast system. I HATE that sound! tongue.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: NO clue its never bothered me, but I usd to annoy my sister with it rolleyes.gif

TheOaf66 replied: it is just an eerie sound and the pitch of it is what sends your hearing sense into a state of shock...kind of like a dog whistle to a dog.

C&K*s Mommie replied: emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif no

Never figured that out. The sound does not bother me. I am wiered out in other ways with that, but not the sound.

Boys r us replied: That doesn't bother me, but I know I'm rare as far as that is concerned!

I don't know why that sound is such a common source of chill bumps!

But I sure like to do it when I get the chance!

J-rod replied:
finally words of truth to the methods behind a woman's madness. wavey.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied:

ahhhh.... you found out the secret! tongue.gif

redchief replied: So you're saying that if, hypothetically, someone were working with a particularly annoying new co-worker, whom, hypothetically, had a horrible aversion to say, someone rubbing their hands together (dry), that it would be okay for the first someone to drive the second someone out of the ambulance... errr, place of employment/office by taking every available opportunity to rub one's hands together?

luvbug00 replied: emlaugh.gif do it!!! LOL! I don't mind the nails on chalkboard sound but if i were irritated by my co worker i do what i gotta to get them away from me!!

punkeemunkee'smom replied: rolling_smile.gif Sounds Ok to me! rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif Hypothetically of course laugh.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: It's not really the sound that bothers me, but the pulling back of fingernails that gives me the creeps! I have semi-long nails and it send chivers down my spine to have them skid along a hard surface.

redchief replied:
Of course I was speaking hypothetically. It would be wrong for me to take advantage of my position by doing something the new annoying employee couldn't do anything about. cool.gif

luvbug00 replied: moraly wron, ,but it would feel so right cool.gif

A&A'smommy replied: UGH I don't know but I can't stand it.. nah not all the time

~~*Missi*~~ replied: i dont know it didn't bother me before i got pregnant but now it does LOL

i used to think it was funny to do it. LOL now its not chills it gives me horrible vibes.... i can't explain it, it driggers a bad memory or something

Celestrina replied: Before we were married, my DH lived with his (very annoying) cousin. He would never give us any privacy and assume he was invited everywhere we went. If I wanted to get rid of him (or just drive him nuts) I would eat anything crunchy as loud as possibly. He hated that. My favorite: hard pretzels. user posted image

redchief replied:
Bwahahahahah!!! Hypothetically sounds like the person to whom I am referring... Hypothetically.

Celestrina replied: The nice thing about rubbing your hands together is that it can look like it is just a habit. Running your fingernails down a blackboard is very obvious you are doing it to make their blood run cold. wink.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
hy[othetically yes it would be fun..uh I mean okay...well espically if you were not aware it bother them so much rolling_smile.gif

gr33n3y3z replied:
