Why does everything have to happen why DH is gone? - Not a good morning.
coasterqueen wrote: Dh is out of town for work this week, maybe even next week. Something ALWAYS happens when he is gone. We had a bunch of icy weather right before he left. We even lost power for 4 hours the day he left. Well we had another storm last night and at midnight last night the power went out. Of course I don't know how to turn on the fireplace or the generator, so I checked on Megan to make sure she was covered and warm in her room and then Kylie and I curled up in my bed. I texted Ryan to wake me up this morning so I didn't oversleep. It was SO cold this morning I didn't want to get out of bed, but had to because schools weren't closed and I needed to go to work. So I forced myself to go figure out how to get the generator going so we could hook up a little heater to it to warm up the bedroom before getting the girls ready. We had only 25 minutes to get ready before the school bus came, so we rushed getting dressed, girls ate graham crackers for breakfast (I know, bad mom), then I rushed in the shower, semi-blow dryed my hair and we ran out to the bus. I then dropped Megan off at daycare and hurried back home to finish doing my hair before the generator ran out of gas. As soon as I pulled into the garage the darn generator ran out of gas. So I called Ryan to figure out what I had to do to put gas in it and restart it. I do that -- getting gas all over my hands -- then go do my hair. Now I'm finally at work, my house is a disaster, we still have no power and I'm tired!
Ok, sorry. I just had to whine. I swear every time he goes out of town an animal dies, the furnace quits working, we get really bad weather I have to drive in, we loose power, etc, etc, etc -- you name it, it happens!!!!!
I have to cancel my lunch with my friend today so I can go home and PRAY the power is back on by then. I just went to the grocery store and to see my farmer Sunday so my fridge and freezer is stocked.
MyBabeMaddie replied: Oh man I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time!

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Sorry to hear that Karen. Hope the power is back on!!
TheOaf66 replied: don't worry Karen Jennie has the same problem
luvmykids replied: Oh boy I sooooo sympathize with you....no joking, EVERY SINGLE time DH is gone something happens Why is that? We used to have a joke...."Why does something always happen when he's gone?" Answer, "Because he's always gone."
Anyway, I know it sucks Hang in there, I hope your power is back on when you get home. Tomorrow can only be better, right?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OH WOW what a morning you are having! I hope that when you get home the power is back on and that the rest of your day goes much smoother!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: This is our joke, too.
I'm so sorry, Karen. I hope the power is back on soon and your day gets a little better.
A&A'smommy replied: uh oh I'm SO sorry honey!!!! I hope your power comes back on soon!!!!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh I'm so sorry Karen, sounds awful. I wouldn't have a clue as to what to do if that happened to me. I can't fix a thing! It's snowing pretty bad here today too. School was cancelled, which ruined my plans to get some things done without Wil. Oh well. I shouldn't complain, YOU have it far worse.
Hope you have a better rest of the day and that your power is back on, and STAYS on!
Calimama replied: I'm sorry. Seems to be how it always is.
coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone. I'm glad I could come here and whine. My boss' wife stopped in this morning and said she thought it was back on (they just live down the road from me) so hopefully when I go home at lunch she's right. I guess the positive thing in all of this is now I know how to run the generator so if I'm ever in this position again I don't have to feel helpless.
On a side note I found out what my raise is for next year and my bonus for this year. Raise - no biggie, bonus was good, though. So that's good news for today.
