Who likes planning wedding stuff? - I need help

CantWait wrote: I'm going to be the Maitron of Honor this summer at a friends wedding. It's taking place in the states. She's given me the reins to choose the bridesmaids dresses, and colour. I don't know what to look for, what's in style etc...

Now take into consideration, it's going to be mid August, so probablys somewhat hot, and I'm going to be 7 months by than, so biggish.

I have to look at dresses at Wedding.net.

Anyone wanna look and give me some ideas?

cameragirl21 replied: depends a lot on the bride's style...I've shot plenty of weddings and have seen it all from slips that I swear looked like underwear to red hot sexy dresses that easily eclipsed the bride.
Do you have some concept of her style in life? The bm dresses should ultimately be a reflection of the bride.
PS--congrats on being MOH, that is quite an honor! wub.gif

momofone replied: i went to the site and it looks like you have to select a state to go to stores in that state i dont know if you want to share that info or not its up to you.

Hope the link works. This is the bridesmaid dress I will be wearing this October in a friend's wedding. She chose the color Cognac for it. I went along with another bridesmaid that is a completely different body frame than myself. The thing we liked about it is that it looks really nice on all body frame types and is flattering no matter what shape you are. I liked how it looked on all of us. biggrin.gif I would suggest going for something classy, but flattering on everyone.

luvbug00 replied: Brides maids are thankfully no longer confined to same style or color dresses of the past. They just chose a simliar color or pallete ( the wedding i am planning for june the girls are all wearing differant shades of pink ) as we all know the same dress may not look so hot on all the ladies. Maybe stay with dress color and similr but not identical style. smile.gif davids bridal does this trend VERY well.

This is something that my friend originally was going to do...until we tried on the dress I posted and all of us liked the same one. laugh.gif She wanted the same color, but she said we could choose whatever style we wanted, but it just so happens that we all looked best in the same one. I have seen the different shades before, and as long as it's done right I think it can either look really elegant, or really cheesy.

I saw a wedding once where the bridemaids all had the same style, but different pastel colors, and IMO, it looked really weird and sloppy. They all looked like a basket of Easter eggs, especially considering there were almost 10 bridesmaids. blink.gif I've seen the same type of thing done where the dresses were the same color, but different styles, and it looked really classy. I have also seen a wedding done in the same family of hues...all dresses in different shades of the same color like suggested above...and it looked equally as nice.

LOL trust me, going back to the I'll be 7 months, I think I'm the one we gotta worry about haha As long as everyone isn't the size of me, I think they'll be A O K. tongue.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Marie, since you'll be 7 months pregnant you'll probably be the best looking one there! Pregnant women are all BEAUTIFUL!!!! I don't think you have anything to worry about.

CantWait replied:
Haha, thanks, you're very right on that. wub.gif

momofone replied: I would just suggest a light fabric and color because of the temperature in August good luck and have fun. happy.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I couldn't find any dresses on wedding.net, but I found a few on www.houseofbrides.com that I think would flatter both PG and non-PG women - and be cool enough for an August wedding.

I like this one:
