Who are you voting for??
lisar wrote: I was just curious on who everyone was thinking. I am making it a locked poll cause I do not want to be the one to start a debate on the topic. Thanks.
Kentuckychick replied: In the primaries I know simply because I have to vote my registered party... but overall I'm not sure. I do know who I'm NOT voting for *cough* Huckabee *uncough* Hillary *cough* but I don't really know who I'd choose for President yet. I'm not real thrilled with any of the candidates
Calimama replied: Wasn't this locked 5 minutes ago?
My2Beauties replied: Obama most likely here.
Kentuckychick replied: Why locked? Surely we can all say who we are/aren't voting for and not argue about it
Freedom of vote!
Calimama replied: Oh I was just making sure I'm not going crazy because I went to post and it was locked.
Kentuckychick replied: I figured they were just trying to head us off at the pass
I know I respect everyone else's political opinion -- just have to keep reminding myself that!
luvmykids replied: You'd think so....
Crystalina replied: I'm not afraid to say I have no clue!
I admire Hillary's spunk and would love to see a woman change this mess around.
O'Bama....eh... to me he is not aggressive enough. He's getting better though.
Ron Paul I absolutely love and can't believe he was not allowed to debate in the Rep. debate a couple nights ago. I'm not a Rep. but I love his way of thinking. I don't think he's an actual Rep but he's running under them. What scares me about him though is he seems fragile in an old man kind of way. He reminds me of the guy from "My Favorite Martian", the original not the remake for whoever may remember.
So that's where I'm at.
holley79 replied: I don't think it got locked. I think we can all be civilized with our choices. I still have some research that needs to be done before I make a decision.
PrairieMom replied: I don't really know, Its to early and there are to many candidates right now. I will tell you that due to the electoral college, my vote will not count, as I do not lean the way the rest of my state does. I am a democrat in a republican state.
Kentuckychick replied: It keeps looking like Hillary might drop out at any moment.
Though I'm not a fan of hers I have to say I'll be really disappointed if she does. I mean as the first woman to actually have a chance at presidency the least she could do is hang in there (winning OR losing) and prove she's a worthy opponent.
I've also heard a lot about Ron Paul these days... I agree I think he should have been allowed to debate!
luvmykids replied: Same here, only I'm a rep in a dem state, although I would vote dem for the right person . I really hate the electoral college. I think they should just tally the votes, and the most votes wins. Leave it to the government to make it harder than it has to be
holley79 replied: from what you are hearing, does he seem like a good candidate so far? I am fixing to head to his web site.
PrairieMom replied: okay, here is what we should do to maximize the strength of our vote. I'll vote for your guy, and you vote for mine. er... or girl.
Crystalina replied: I watched her this morning on MSNBC (Morning Joe) and she said those are all rumors. People have to remember that the Bill won no Caucuses at all and then still won the presidency. There is hope for her.
Crystalina replied: From what I hear he's awesome. If he didn't look like he may keel over at any minute I would probably vote for him if I had to vote now.
And I'm not a Rep.
Crystalina replied: Again with my YouTube searches.
Ron Paul Vid. Just to give you an idea.
luvmykids replied:
Crystalina replied: Here he is on Jay last night.
PrairieMom replied: At least I wouldn't fell like my vote doesn't matter.
Wait... how many votes does your state get? I think mine gets 2. Anyone else here want to vote for me also?
Anthony275 replied: i usually choose over who has a better last name
and the one that legalizes weed
but obama seems pretty legit
luvmykids replied: I definitely like his point of view on the IRS
luvmykids replied: I'm not sure, but I think we only get two or three. Nobody cares what NM thinks
Actually, not true....Bush and Gore both spent a lot of time and money here
holley79 replied: I agree as well Mon.
Kentuckychick replied: He does... and doesn't.
I think I agree and disagree with aspects of everyones campaign (of course that's what makes it difficult to vote!)
Calimama replied: I wonder how many CA gets?
PrairieMom replied: um, like a bunch I think.
luvmykids replied: CA gets 55
I was wrong, we get 5
holley79 replied: Ok so who here is going to run and will we all vote you in.
PrairieMom replied: Ca gets 55. SD gets a whopping 3. I wonder why I feel like my vote doesn't count? I am just as much a person as a Californian.
here is a list.
http://www.fec.gov/pages/elecvote.htm
Calimama replied: 55!!!!?
Tara you're right, it doesn't seem fair.
gr33n3y3z replied: They all stink but maybe a few in the list are just ok I will just wait for the last min. and pick the lesser Evil one But i will tell you who I wont vote for and she doesnt stand a chance is Hillary Clinton
PrairieMom replied: thankyou. I feel better now.
Cece00 replied: Man, me too.
There is one guy I'd like to vote for but he'd NEVER get the nom. & I am just left here like....ehhh, I'd dont like ANY of the candidates that much.
I am not at all sure who I am voting for yet, but I know I'm def. not voting for Clinton & Huckabee, and most likely not Romney.
MommyToAshley replied: I think the original poster locked the poll when she created it (anyone can do this), but when she added the other names, she didn't lock it. So... yes, it was probably locked when you first answered the poll, but the mods did not lock it or unlock it.
Calimama replied: Okay well nice to know I'm not just going nutso.
MommyToAshley replied: Looks like you are sane for now.
Kentuckychick replied: I even see now where Lisa said she was making it a locked post because she didn't want a debate started. I think everyone's playing fair though
Kentuckychick replied: Ohh... Looks like Hilary may take New Hampshire in a big upset
Well good for her!
lisar replied: http://www.fec.gov/pages/elecvote.htm that is a website that tells you how many your state get.
Florida gets alot also, however I dont like any of the candidates that are running. If I was gona vote for a woman the only woman I would even consider at this moment would have been condeleeza rice. Not Hillary. I love the way Ron Paul thinks but the rest of the us is not up with him and they wont vote for him. He wont make it thru the prelims. I think Rudy will make it thru them. As for Hillary and Obama I would rather see Obama than her. "Lifes a Bit*&, dont vote for one" I know yall have all heard that. Sorry I have strong feelings about her. I have done alot of reading up on all of them and I just dont like her. And no offence to anyone but her dh didnt do a good job either. And if she gets in the white house whats to say that he wont be running it all over again. KWIM? Whos he gona sleep with this time? LOL.
And yes I made this a locked poll cause I didnt want to be responsible for starting a debate. So far so good we are all being good. But someone unlocked it.
Our Lil' Family replied: *Asking very gently here, and with sincere curiosity*
Those who say you are NOT voting for Huckabee, can you say why? Just to educate me please.
Crystalina replied: I'm the oddball now I'm sure. I've spent alot of time watching all of them and to me O'Bama is like a robot. Even when he's talking (IMO) he's robotic. That could be because he has to say the same thing over and over again. I don't know but my list of 3 is now down to two. Hillary and Ron Paul ( Omg, I almost typed Ron Jeremy! Oopsie). They aren't giving Ron Paul a chance so I don't see him getting too far.
I liked the original Clinton and I really like that Hillary "found her voice", as she put it, in New Ham. Not only that but I really like her off camera when she's being interviewed and not speaching it up. She's down to earth and funny. O'Bama always seems to be "On" even when he's just talking to someone.
It's still early in the game. I may change my mind once again but I was really happy to hear she won N.H.
Crystalina replied: I'm not a Rep but it really ticked me off when half the nation flipped out because he sent out a 'Merry Christmas' to everyone. I can't believe the air time that got! God forbid someone brings religion into it and says Merry Christmas. They thought he had an underlying agenda. And so what if he did. It was nice to see!
Ok, done.
coasterqueen replied: Well I'm the oddball in this thread, I think. I am Republican so I will definitely be voting that route, but as far as who -- I'm still deciding. I've watched the Democratic debates and they all scare me so there's no chance I'd be voting for them.
Obama was our state Senator for a few years. We threw a fundraiser (maybe two) for him, my boss knows him personally. Let's just say I, personally, wouldn't vote for him.
grapfruit replied: Can I ask why?
I'm so lost. I haven't paid enough attention b/c to quote South Park "In every election you have to choose between a Douche bag and a Turd Sandwich" (there was an entire episode devoted to this"
Boo&BugsMom replied: You're not alone Karen. I am a repub as well.
I am considering Huckabee or Paul so far.
Crystalina replied: Amen!
I'm not 100% for anyone. They all have their weakness'. I'd like to take a little bit of this person and a little bit of that and make a whole new candidate.
coasterqueen replied: No real reason, except my first hand seeing politics in our state -- the promises he's made and there's no way (like for instance on getting lobbyists out of washington, etc) that he's really going to do that. He is very inexperienced in politics, very good speaker, but don't believe he can follow through with it. Although I hear he's surrounding himself with a great staff of people to bring to the white house -- but in my opinion those people are all very experienced (know how to play politics) and well, they are going to take over his inexperience of politics. He's got the wool over his eyes. Who knows, maybe he'll prove me wrong. I just have seen him first hand, in person -- I don't buy his talk.
Crystalina replied: See, that's what I get from him also. Maybe if he came back another time and ran. It just seems to me like he's a puppet on a string. They all are but with him it shows I think.
Kaitlin'smom replied: NO CLUE yet. I will have to do some research to see who best fits....
coasterqueen replied: Yep, I think he really messed up. I think he should have waited 4 more years and he'd have an awesome chance. Like I said, I may be proved wrong and he'll get it this year. He knows how politics is played, he's trying to pull the wool over our eyes telling us that he's going to change it -- well he should know from his home state that even though they tried it still ultimately didn't work. He's not playing small school politics here anymore -- Washington is the big game. He may be a US Senator and skirted by not playing it, but lets face it -- he'll have no chance to stay away from it as President. He's going to be the lackey and all the good smart people he surrounds himself with are going to eat him alive. Again, maybe I am completely wrong and I'll admit it when it happens.
lisar replied: Can I ask why you are considering Huckabee? I am just curious on everyones opinion.
A&A'smommy replied: Rudy Giuliani
lisar replied: Also for those saying Hillary can I ask why? I just want more opinions before I make my final decision. KWIM?
Boo&BugsMom replied: Huckabee's moral stances are similar to what I agree with (abortion, etc.). It's not my only criteria for voting, but it is what I look for first when picking out the candidates, then I dig deeper.
I have looked further into Paul's stances moreso than Huckabee's though. I just haven't had the time to read as much as I'd like to yet.
A&A'smommy replied: I dunno maybe.. I'm still undecided
Kentuckychick replied: For me it's his views *noting everyone has different views which is totally acceptable* on women's rights (his belief that women should be subservient to their husbands), his views on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, (He says we should not judge wars while we're in the midst of them... well... um... if no one ever did that then wars would go on forever!)
And I think he would be another president to bring too much of his religious beliefs into the office and try to force them onto the nation.
My2Beauties replied: OK I have to disagree, Bill Clinton was awesome, our economy was super until Bush got in. That's all I'm saying, no debating, just wanted to add my piece.I know more people struggling now because of Bush being in the White House, ridiculous! I also LOVE the fact that Hillary wants to get our troops out ASAP but she also is contradicitng herself because she wanted us to go to war at first...OBama never wanted to go to war....gives him more credibility. Anyways ok I'm done now.
luvmykids replied: Karen, I'm with you on being a rep. and on Obama....I like the guy, he's dynamic, charismatic, a great motivational speaker....just doesn't seem to go any deeper than that. Which is kind of too bad, b/c I like some of his points, but I just don't buy into the Obama craze
luvmykids replied: Karen, I'm with you on being a rep. and on Obama....I like the guy, he's dynamic, charismatic, a great motivational speaker....just doesn't seem to go any deeper than that. Which is kind of too bad, b/c I like some of his points, but I just don't buy into the Obama craze
I don't know for sure who I'm voting for.
Rachel, do you have a link or something quoting Huckabee on the subservient woman thing? I've heard some statements that could be taken that way, but nothing directly out of his mouth to that effect....I'd just be curious to read the full quote.
coasterqueen replied: Well said.
grapfruit replied: I'm leary about Hillary, some of what she says sounds really Socialist.
BUT in her defense about the war. She outright admitted that voting for it was a mistake and she shouldn't of done it. BUT at the time, with what we knew then (which of course ISN'T what we know now) it's hard to judge. Yes we all say "shouldn't of went to war" NOW but then we were all (well the majority of the country) was screaming that we had TO go to war.
Oh and for the record, I have to research. I don't vote "democrate/republican" I go strictly by their values and stances on issues.
Kentuckychick replied: So we know I'm not a Hilary supporter, but I keep hearing that this is one place she contradicted herself and I keep asking myself...
Is it really a contradiction to want something SIX years ago -- to now, six years later, see how badly it's gone and say that you would pull the troops out. I don't think she's contradicting herself... or at least I wouldn't hold this one against her
I mean I bet there were quite a few individuals *cough* who supported going over there in the first place because we were led to believe we were going over there for a good reason, who now 6 years later are saying "enough is enough"
Heck Bush has lost half his (cabinet/staff/office *can't think of the proper word) over the mess.
lisar replied: I understand. But alot of my vote will also go towards who thinks what about the war. I dont think we should just pull ALL of our troops out of there. I think that would be a bad thing. We cant start something and then not finish it. I agree with getting most of them out of there but they cant just pull them all out. Thats like saying we were a threat but not now so lets go blow something else up in the U.S. KWIM? I have a problem putting what I am thinking into words sometimes. I am tired today.,
My2Beauties replied: Oh yes I agree. I'm not faulting her for it, because even I was somewhat convinced after 9/11 that we needed to go to war, but I have changed my mind, so I understand her position. But it gives Obama more credibility only because it was like he saw into the future, he saw the bigger picture and called it. That's worth thinking about when making a decision, long term affects of things we do.
Kentuckychick replied: It was not an actual statement, he has endorsed ads and campaigns for the babtist convention one that stated "A wife is to submit graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ."
He also filled out a survey saying he didn't believe women should be in the military... but he does believe that women can hold high seats in senate and in the government.
I'm no feminist, but I'm really against any man who supports denying a woman the right to choose these things for herself...
Kentuckychick replied: Nope -- totally agree with you! And honestly she might say ASAP, but I think any President we end up with will be pulling the troops out anything but ASAP! It's going to take time...
lisar replied: Okay can we get some proof of this. A link or something maybe. Cause I would love to see it. I had no idea he said things like this. PLEASE give me proof.
Kentuckychick replied: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/...eased-scrutiny/
I'll have to look up the things again there are places that show the documents and things but I can't find them at this moment.
-- it's really one of those "past comes back to bite you in the hiney type things" I'd like to hear what he'd say now if asked the same question...
-In '92 he had said individuals with AIDS should be isolated but today he's saying while he stands by his convictions from then, at the time we didn't know what we now know about the disease.
lisar replied: Thank you. I will NOT be voting for him. I dont care if it was in 1998 or when ever and the whole article just confirmed that I wont be voting for him.
HuskerMom replied: I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet, I still need to do some more reading about the candidates.
Calimama replied: Yep. There will be no quick troop withdrawals IMO.
My2Beauties replied: It should take time but be done as soon as possible and as efficiently as possible. I'm tired of turning on the news and hearing about our boys suffering and dying over there over this worthless stupid war....it's not even over what it was originally supposed to be over sad to say....at least IMHO, I think it's over control of oil. IThese people have been fighting religious wars for years, it's not going to stop on our account by our troops being over there.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Well, he is a Baptist right? This is what the Bible teaches, so it makes sense that those are his beliefs, whether we agree with them or not. If you read the Bible, says it clear as day. Just trying to help understand why he might believe something (that we are to submit to our husbands...and yes I even agree with that as a Christian myself except under certain exceptions of course). Not saying everyone should agree with it, but helping to understand WHY he said what he said. Also, if someone undrestood the Scripture a little better, you'd understand that his words are not to be taken SO literally either. Please do not get the picture of a woman bowing down before her husband and kissing his feet saying "yes sir". Don't blow it out of proportion...I wont even look at Troy's feet.
I am sure if we dig deep enough with every candidate, there is going to be garbage and things they said that we don't agree with. Nobody is perfect, unfortunately, and we all say things and do things that are not just every once in awhile.
Our Lil' Family replied: Last year some time, months ago, I took an online survey (I'm going to try to find it again). It had lots of questions on different issues, war, abortion, healthcare etc, and also asked how they rank for you importance wise. I did the survey and it told me that the candidate that I most agree with is Mike Huckabee. I didn't even know the mans name at the time. Now I've done more research on him and realize that I do agree with most of his opinions....probably due to the fact that our religious beliefs are the same as well.
I'm still not 100% decided but as of now, he's my front runner.
ETA: Here's the survey...good for all to take. Help me decide who I agree with
My2Beauties replied: I just want to add that I'm really glad everyone is being civil in this thread/debate. Good job guys!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Thanks for the link! I got Huckabee as well.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Me too! Thanks for holding on to your tomatoes everyone!
TheOaf66 replied: Huckabee
