Who Handles Money - in the household?

luvbug00 replied: since my option isn't up there and i'm trying not to jinx myself  Lars does it. He has me log onto my money and he takes it from there. but shows me all activities so kinda together yet mostly him.

lol, Steve was the same way until i forgot to pay his cc once or twice. now he checks every mo and sends me e-reminders. why he doesn't just pay them while he is online is beyond me

I've given up on DH trying to remember. He's had his phone shut off twice for not paying the bill and both times he didn't even know until I tried to call him. He does a great job cleaning the house though, so I don't mind paying the bills.

Same here, and it's got pros and cons. I like that he's uninvolved so I don't have to explain myself to him when I spend money but I wish he'd take over because he has no idea of reality vs whats in his head.

This would be my husband as well. He has no clue about our household finances except to know that the bills are paid.

Yours and mine both and mine also thinks that when he goes to the ATM if the $20 comes out then it was there for the taking - needless to say the $ I put in savings every month ends up back in checking....

Jackie012007 replied: I deal with them, since Carl came from money and fails to realize we don't have any  . He maxed out all his CC's and now has to file for bankruptcy - he has no accountability, everything was handed to him and when I broke my tailbone and was laid up forever, he just shoved everything that came in the mail, into a drawer!  I found them like 4 months later - we were behind on EVERYTHING. He's a dumbbutt!!
mummy2girls replied: At this point because i am a single mom i do it. When Im married to marcus( hopefully) i will still be the financial person. He is really bad with finances and has no idea how to budget and such. And because my job is a home buisiness i want to do the bill paying and such. he will get a say as welll dont get me wrong i just will do the most deciding. Marcus asked me to be the person in charge of finances... because i have been doign this for almost 5 years on my own so he thinks i will be the best at it...

lisar replied: I do ALL of the money. He calls me and asks me how much money HE has. I give him a limit during the week. And he knows it. If he knew how much money we had there would be NONE. He would spend it all.

Some old metors of ours gave sal a very hard time about me doing finances ... this makes me feel a lot better!!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Aaron does the bills. I got behind on things about 2 years ago and was way stressed out and told Aaron he needed to do it. I handle everything else around the house, he needed a chore.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Okay who's the 2% that doesn't have bills?? How is that possible? Anyhow, DH handles our finances. I handle our weekly budget for groceries, gifts, things for the boys. But he handles all the big stuff like mortgage, car payments, insurance, stocks, savings, etc. He shows me where we are every month with a very organized spreadsheet, but I always know what we have in our bank account at all times by logging online.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I handle all of the money.....I let DH pay the bills once and his "great plan" was to write all the checks at the beginning of the month so that all he had to do when they were due was mail them.....but he forgot to write down how much each check was for so I had to reopen all of the envelopes.

I was one of those 2 but I did't mean to do that, I clicked the wrong thing due to having Braedin on my lap. But I handle them.
my2girls replied: We both do , in a sense.
In the begining of the month we make our budget ( we get paid once a month) for EVERYTHING ( saving , mortgage, groceries, dinners out/movies/golf and utilities). Some bills are estimated ( elec/gas/water) some are a set expense every month ( phone package/ cable/mortgage, etc.).
Then I pay all of the bills , 1/2 online , 1/2 are auto withdrawl.
If we need more for a certain item say golf , he calls and says its over our estimate and we take money from our eating out/movie fund , never from saving. If we overestimated that goes into a kitty and we either put it into saving at the end of the month or we splurge on something.
This has worked for us for the last few years and we are debt free except for our house ( which we estimate will be paid off in 7-9 years).
