Which Persian face do you like best?

cameragirl21 wrote: Ok, this is an obvious case of "I have work to do and am procrastinating because I don't want to do it so I'm going to post about pointless things" syndrome. But I'll ask anyway because I'm curious.
So as I've mentioned before, I love Persian cats. I have 2, one blue point Himalayan and one Red that's still a kitten.
Mine are both doll face, where their faces are flatter than most cats but they still have a profile. The other kinds are flat and peke, which is the flattest kind. I don't care for the flat or peke look at all, to me they look angry. But most connoisseurs prefer flats which are more expensive than doll faces, usually, and pekes are the most expensive and most sought after, usually.
Here is the difference, illustrated:
Here is my kitten in profile, she is a typical doll face.

Here father is a flat and her mother is a doll face, luckily she's turning out to be more doll face than flat.
And these next pics are not pics I took, nor are they my cats.
This is a flat face:

And here is a peke:

The flats and pekes tend to have breathing problems too, for obvious reasons which is another reason I'm disinclined to get that kind.
Just curious, which do you prefer? If you like the others besides mine, feel free to say so, I won't be even a little offended. I know my kitten is adorable. biggrin.gif wub.gif

lisar replied: I like the typical one

stella6979 replied: I definitely like yours better. The other two are U-G-L-Y!!!

cameragirl21 replied:
what do you mean, the typical one?
by typical do mean the flat faced or peke faced look?

lisar replied:
Doll face

cameragirl21 replied:
oh, I see. good choice. biggrin.gif

PrairieMom replied: I'm more of a mixed breed animal kind of gal. IMO when they start selectively breeding animals for a certian look they tend to come out looking funny.
the other 2 cats kinda look like they have been hit in the face with a 2x4. wink.gif

Danalana replied: I like the doll face better, definitely. Yours is adorable!

cameragirl21 replied:
yeah, my cat that I had before these 2 that recently passed away sad.gif sleep.gif was a Persian mix--her father was a purebred or so I presume as she was also a Red and I found her and where I found her, there was a gorgeous, clearly purebred Red Persian male with big, intact kohones so I assume that was her daddy. Anyway, she was also doll face but not quite as flat since she was a mix. I used to say, when describing her that her face is flat but not rammed into the wall flat.
I usually prefer mixes too. I wanted another Red Persian mix female because that is what my sweet girl was but it's very rare to get a Red female, they are usually males and it so happened that by accident I came upon a breeder who in 14 years of breeding, got one of her first female Reds in her latest litter so I came and got her.
My Himmy was given to me recently, at the age of 1.5 by her former owner who was very allergic to her. She originated from the same breeder, which is how I found that breeder and found my kitten.
I agree with you about the selective breeding bit, flats and pekes can't breathe, do people not see a problem with that?! blink.gif dry.gif

grandma replied: Although the other two are precious, your's is the best!

Danalana replied: hehe, I just looked at yours again...I just want to give it (sorry, don't remember the gender!) kisses!

cameragirl21 replied:
she's a girl and thanks Dana and everyone else for the kind words about my lil monkey.
She gets tons of kisses but she's already developing a major case of what we call "photographer's child syndrome". When she sees me coming toward her with my camera in hand, she runs in the other direction and tries to hide, and I've only had her for about 5.5 weeks. That's probably in part because she is strictly indoor but I take her outside for pics, usually, because I prefer to use natural light and she is definitely not an outdoors kind of girl, she hates it and can't wait to go back in.

Danalana replied: My Kade LOVES the camera tongue.gif Whenever he sees it, he immediately laughs and smiles laugh.gif rolleyes.gif

cameragirl21 replied: See, is she telling me to F off or what? She's trying to be polite about it and not look me in the face as she tells me off in meows....

I have 3 of them at home. Not by choice but I have come to like them. They stay outside. One just showed up there and the other 2 are about 3 months old now the one that showed up was pregnant.

cameragirl21 replied: But don't you want to get them fixed? If you don't, you'll be inundated with cats. There are some low cost clinics if you don't want to spend money on strays. Do you feed them or are they strictly mousers?
Oh yeah, and can I see pics of them? biggrin.gif I just love Persians.

Calimama replied: I love the look of yours. The other two are cute but their faces look misshaped to me. blush.gif

3xsthefun replied: Your kitten is adorable! I like them all. smile.gif

cameragirl21 replied: thanks, everyone, for your nice comments about my kitten.
I'm surprised, though, most people prefer the flats and pekes and those of us who prefer doll faces are in the minority for the most part.
I'm just not big on the look of being flattened by a wall or something to that effect, they look way too angry to me.

kit_kats_mom replied: awww what a cute kitti (I've decided to get creative with my spelling now!)

I tried to save a flat faced persian a long time ago. Her owner had developed allergies. But this cat snored and when she wasn't sleeping she grunted and snorted. That was a short lived save. She went to live with someone who is a harder sleeper than I am. rolling_smile.gif IMO, your kitten just looks like a long haired cat. I would have never guessed persian when I saw it.

cameragirl21 replied:
Mine doesn't make any noise, except when she's purring or meowing and Persians are not big talkers, which is another reason I love this breed, they're nice and quiet. But mine doesn't grunt or snore because she can breathe, a luxury the flats and pekes don't have. dry.gif
The latest craze is the teacup Persian which sounded like a great idea to me at first till I realized that they have tons of health problems because they're bred to be runts, the least healthy babies in the litter. Double dry.gif
