Where do you put your kids - when you shower??

Mommy2Isabella wrote: I stay at home with Isabella as most of you already know.

However, during her 10am nap I clean up the house and she doesn't take another nap until around 4.

WHEN DO I SHOWER?

I have been taking a shower and just putting her in the pack and play and putting on baby einstein ... does this make me a bad mommy, using good learning time with TV ???

luvbug00 replied: i did the same thing. in my bedroom she would watch tv while i was in the ajcent shower. happy.gif

CantWait replied: Unfortunetly there comes a time when the TV has to be the babysitter. Unless you want to stink. tongue.gif

stella6979 replied: I do the exact same thing and sometimes I would put her in her excersaucer and bring her in the bathroom with me. biggrin.gif The steam can be great for their stuffy noses. wink.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I try and take showers in the evening before bed. If I have to take one when the kids are awake, I can trust Tanner alone while I take one and I usually put Aiden in the bathroom with me in his bouncy or his swing. I did the same thing with the exersaucer when Tanner was little. Aiden too small for it yet. And yes, I have done the tv thing too. It's not a bad thing. I think some people get too up in arms over a little bit of tv. Not me. Tanner watches it, so what. Aiden will too. It's not like it's their babysitter all day.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I did the same thing when I was home with her, if I could not while she was sleeping or DH was not home. sometimes I would have her in the boucy right outside the door with it cracked opened. my shower is a very small area with just a tub/shower and toilet, coudl not really fit the boucy in there.

luvmykids replied: I did/do it before they're up in the morning. They're old enough now that I can put on a movie but when they were little it was early am or never laugh.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: When Andrew was around Bella's age I'd put him in the walker in the bathroom while I showered. Now that he's older I just take a quick one and leave the door open so he can come in, and I put Allie in the bouncy seat. I try to take one while Roo is napping or after Dh comes home because if Andrew is in the bathroom with me he pulls the shower curtain open and throws all his tub toys in the tub for me. rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

ETA: putting her in the pack and play with a video on is definitely not a bad thing. wink.gif I would have done the same thing with Andrew, but he was a really clingy baby and cried if I ever left him alone in a room for more than a minute. rolleyes.gif He's fine watching tv by himself in the living room now while I take a shower, but like I said I leave the bathroom door open and he always ends up in there with me. I have to take Allie in the bathroom with me if she isn't napping because I can't trust Andrew alone in the same room with her. wacko.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: when caleb was really small, i put him in his car seat and sat him in the shower on the floor with me.
then as he got older i put him in the exersaucer and just pulled that right near the bathroom door.
now with two kids, I try to get up before they do and shower while they are asleep.
i have no idea how to handle it with three.....

Cece00 replied: I am able to corral my kids into one room (the playroom) due to being able to close off doors, and ALL of their toys are in there...so I let them play while I take a shower. They cant get into any room or anything they could get hurt with, so I take a shower.

PrairieMom replied: I put Ben in front of the TV. blush.gif But, he will stay there, and I know that he is safe. It takes me about 45 min to get ready, and I run into the living room to check on him periodically.
I usually put Al down for her nap when I shower, but the timing doesn't always work out. My bedroom is baby proofed, so I put her on the floor in there, and close the bedroom door so I know she can't get out, then I put the baby gate up across our master bathroom door so I can see her. she has toys to play with, but she usually just pulls up on the gate and watches me. rolleyes.gif

I DO lock the bedroom door so Benjamin can't come up and open the door and let her out, but I always tell him that I am going to lock it, and he knows to knock and yell for me if he needs anything.

Mommy2Isabella replied: I leave the bathroom door open. I can hear her if she needs something. I just felt like I was being a slacker by doing that.
Maybe I should get up earlier. But, why waste VALUABLE sleep time ... lol smile.gif

Thanks Guys!

Calimama replied: I won't put her where I can't see her at this age so I bring her in the bathroom in her pack and play with a bunch of toys.
