OMG..did you all hear about the woman in San Fransisco who through here kids off of a pier?? That is so horrible! Bless their little hearts! sad.gif

Mom2Boyz replied: I didn't hear about that ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif I'll have to watch the news tonight. I swear the whole world has gone crazy wacko.gif wacko.gif

luvbug00 replied: When i heard about that I litterly threw up. I can't believe a mom I don't care how mental can do that. The 6 year old was well aware of what was going on and the 2 year old gets the gist and the baby. I hope she rotts in the depths of ____. Sorry but these things make me want to ERRRRR growl.gif

mckayleesmom replied: what happened now?

six_kids_at_28 replied: blink.gif growl.gif That's terrible!!! They were all so young!!!
I am just thinking on the positive side, that they are probably in a better place now. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif to them

C&K*s Mommie replied: the mayor said it best... when he said he was sick to his stomach. I cried thinking of my kids who are 3 and 18mos--- how could I possibly begin to think/listen rolleyes.gif and turn around and do that. growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif

Not thinking that someone will carry out what they say--- in hindsight I am sure that the aunt/cousin who that woman told she was going to do it- may have guilt thinking she could have saved those innocent little ones.

amynicole21 replied: It's one of the saddest things I've ever heard. I shudder to think of what went through those childrens' heads when mommy was stipping them naked and throwing them in one by one. sleep.gif She was schizophrenic though - not evil. Such a horrible tragedy.

My3LilMonkeys replied: What a tragedy! I only hope that some good comes out of it and they get the mother the help she needs.

ions_momma replied: OMG! Thats sooo sad! bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Stories like this break my heart! It irks me to my core that more and more we are hearing this she had PPD or she was having mental difficulties when women kill their children and we as a society are allowing that to be used as an excuse for barrbaric behavior! Women have always suffered from mental illnesses but only recently has that become an acceptable excuse to kill your kids! Where is the outcry that was heard when Susan Smith drove her car in the lake??? These innocent babies' deaths cannot be overshadowed by the desire to be PC and not point fingers at "mentally unstable" women! "Sick" or not she took her children one by one and MURDERED them! I am with Nadia here 110%

kit_kats_mom replied: yeah, I heard it on the news and then I promptly turned the news off because I was on the verge of tears. It's simply horrible and very very sad. I'm sure that it will pop up in my mind as I try to fall asleep tonight bawling.gif

coasterqueen replied: I am so glad I didn't hear about this. I'm not going to read the story, but it sounds so horrible. bawling.gif

A&A'smommy replied: OMG I can't believe that.... those poor babies!!! sad.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I can't believe her family didn't take it seriously when she said she was going to feed them to the sharks. That just isn't right. They knew she had a bad mental illness, they should be ashamed of themselves too.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: This is why Idon't watch the news. TOo many sickos out there.

jem0622 replied: What is truly sad is that she was already diagnosed schizophrenic and her meds were not regulated. Trust me when I tell you, those who are stricken with this illness are not in their right mind ever and they can harm themselves and others. It is very very important that their meds are regulated and administered daily. And if the voices in her head (very normal with this illness) were talking to her a lot and she was stricken with this fear (again, very normal for this illness) then she should have been in a group house on 24x7 watch and her children should have been with family or in foster care.

Her own family could have prevented this, and again, the system could have prevented this. She lived in a shelter and folks there should have noticed her behaviors. This truly could have been prevented.

People with schizophrenia do not really have a concept of what 'wrong' is. Especially as they deteriorate further. My DH works for a mental health organization and works at a 24x7 house for people in serious danger to themselves or their peers in the group environment.

This woman will continue to deteriorate as time passes. That is the sad reality. And her children are (and I pray) in the presence of God now. It is a very very sad situation.

My2Beauties replied: Oh I saw this on the news last night and my stomach turned to mush and I was about to start bawling when Brian said he couldn't watch it anymore and turned the station. I don't know what to think when stuff like this happens, I feel the system failed us in some way, because she should not have even had custody of her children!

Jenny_B replied: This is so terribly sad! It's got to be one of the worst cases I've ever heard. I can't even imagine.

But she was mentally ill. It's not an excuse-it's a reason. To me, calling it an "excuse" implies that there were other reasons she did this, and the fact that she has a mental illness is just being used to explain it away/get her off in court.

I've only had one experience with someone I knew well who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. I actually went to high school with her, and it was so sureal that it could have happened to her. She was a normal girl, and then...voices and even visual hallucinations sometimes. I remember, before she was completely diagnosed, her telling me that she was watching TV and felt like the newscaster had raped her. Just this random guy on TV.

My experiences with this friend reaffirmed my belief that mental illnesses are real, and that they can really cause you to be completely out of your right and normal mind, or "crazy".

The most tragic part of the whole case (of the woman killing her kids) is that there were warning signs, those around her had reason to be concerned, people knew she was mentally ill and needed help, but she-and her children-fell through the cracks. I think many others may share part of the responsibility for what happened by not being more proactive. She said she was going to feed her kids to the sharks-that's threatening their lives, that's assault. If she's unstable, they should have taken her seriously.

kimberley replied: sad.gif i avoid the news for stories like this. unfortunately they put newsflashes at most commercials and poor Jacob was nearly in tears over it and couldn't sleep last night. he just couldn't understand how someone's mommy could hurt her own babies. it was not a fun night trying to explain to him the gruesome reality of the world we live in sleep.gif

six_kids_at_28 replied:
What did you end up saying to him?

kimberley replied: i just explained mental illness to him and reassured him that he has nothing to worry about it and that we love him very much. it was still a very rude awakening for him at almost 9yo. he still idealizes the world. we are catholic, so he also took comfort in hearing the kids are in the arms of God now.

DansMom replied: ITA with Julie and Jenny.

3xsthefun replied: OMG!! That is so awful!!! bawling.gif
