When you made the crib/bed switch - what was in their rooms?

moped wrote: I mean - did you keep all their toys and everything so they could play all night or did you remove everything so it was sleeptime??????

Nina J replied: In there rooms? Emily doesn't have alot of toys in her room, just a few. But I left them there, she doesn't seem tempted to play with them and hasn't since we made the switch. She know's bedtime means going to sleep.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I left everything as it was and the only child I had problems going to bed was with Emily. She fought us every step of the way! biggrin.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: We don't have a whole lot of toys in the bedroom and we never really had a problem...just made sure she knew that it was bedtime, not playtime and luckily Brooke listened pretty well!

jacobsmama replied: Jacob has all of his toys in his room and always has. He has never got up in the middle of the night or even when he was suppose to be going to bed. Never even really thought about that... rolling_smile.gif Is jack doing this? Or you are just thinking ahead??

luvmykids replied: At that time we had an official playroom so there wasn't much in their rooms; once we moved and didn't have a playroom it only took a few nights for them to understand that lights out means going to sleep instead of playing. There were a few nights I did let them take a toy to bed to play with quietly, they'd doze off and I think that may have helped with the urge to get up and play.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I've only had the toys in their rooms for a few months.... we've always had a playroom for their stuff... but I want my basement back... lol They have no more toys in their room than they can put away properly though. They know it's bedtime. Well actually, we always let Zach play quietly in his room before bed time. That child is too weird... he will be put in his room about 7, no later than 7:30...and usually within 10 or 15 minutes, he'll shut his own light and go to bed. laugh.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Our boys have some toys in there room but most of the is in the playroom. They know when I say lights out that I mean it. I will sometimes let them play gameboy or watch there portable DVD player in bed for a few mins before they go to sleep.

ediep replied: Jason doesn't really have any toys in his room.

boyohboyohboy replied: we have jake in a toddler bad, and he just started to figure out this week that he can get out and play with the toys...
so for us the toys are there, and two nights in a row he got up to play...

moped replied: No he isn't playing with his toys - I just thinking ahead.........

Kaitlin'smom replied: I wish I had a playroom, but we dont have space for that so she has most of them in her room, she never played in the middle of the night but will sometimes in the morning. Kaitlin is usually pretty good about going to bed.

lisar replied: I left all her toys in her room. But I wouldnt let her play. She stayed in her bed. Lexi was real easy to transform. I have had to do Raygen yet though.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner never got up to play. He's always had all his toys in his room (until his play room is done being put together in a couple weeks that is). He knew better than to try that trick with us. laugh.gif We've always been strict with bedtime habits. Although now it's the excuses...I need a drink of water, I need to go potty again, I need, I need, I need........AHHH! Playing we never had a problem with partially because we never allowed him to play in his bed with anything when it was time to go to bed. It's time to sleep, and that's it. Stay in bed, close your eyes, and that's that.

holley79 replied: I think I will just leave it as is. I think if I "clean" it out it will throw off her balance and she will be wondering WTH is going on. emlaugh.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
As long as you don't allow it Jen, he wont get use to doing it and I think he'll be fine. smile.gif Hopefully.................I wont say for sure though because you just never know.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: OMG Jen...are you making the switch? Jack isn't three until June! Anyhow, I only have books on the floor in Wil's room. No toys. His room is for quiet time or sleeptime only. I find him reading his books a lot if he isn't sleeping and that makes me happy...because of course books are a "good" toy IMO. Also, DH bolted his dresser to the wall since you know little boys, they like to climb. He only has stuffed animals, a CD player and a small lamp on top of his dresser. He likes to pull all of his clothes out of the drawers, so warning...that makes for quite a mess! No toys neccessary IMO. Good luck!
