When did you stop - the bottle

MyBabeMaddie wrote: I give Maddie a bottle of milk before bed thats it - Her Dr. said "NO MORE BOTTLE" yesterday, I feel so bad because she loves her bottle at bedtime. When did you guys quit giving the bottle.

Calimama replied: I stopped when she was 11 months old now when she finds a bottle she uses it to feed her "babies". wub.gif

Cece00 replied: Before age 1

moped replied: Bad Mom here - I think he was 20-22 months

boyohboyohboy replied: i think caleb was 9 months old and I bf jake so he did that till he was 13 months and then went to a cup.
there are some sippy cups out there that are really like a nipple top, they are soft, i was thinking gerber made them? the first sippers?
might make it easier on her..does she do a cup during the day, so she might do it at night if its familiar to her, or else switch her to water at night they say that makes them not want it.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Logan had his last one at 14 months.

luvmykids replied: Right at one year.

PrairieMom replied: We were done at about 11 months with Ben and 13 months with Al. We were going to have her done before her 1 year, but she was sick and in the hospital at that time. Not the best time to be weaning from a bottle.

A&A'smommy replied: I broke alyssa of a bottle (and she was a BAD middle of the night bottle user dry.gif ) when she was about 1 year and 1 week..

MoonMama replied: About 11 months. However Braedin NEVER took to a sippy, he just wouldn't do it. dry.gif I think part of it is that we used the playtex bottles with the drop-in liners, and with those he could just suck regardless and the liquid would eventually come out. KWIM? But he has done REALLY well with straws since he was about 6 or 7 months old. Juice boxes and straws in cups and such. So I ended up getting him those cups with the straws that have the flip top that goes over the straw. And he does great with those.

These are like what I got him.
Straw Cups

I find them everywhere Target, Walmart, TRU, BRU, etc. And they have all kinds of different colors and things on them.

Good luck. hug.gif

lovemy2 replied: Olivia was a year old more or less - Dylan will be one in a couple of weeks and I haven't even started the process yet - I think because I am in denial that my last baby will be ONE bawling.gif bawling.gif

I will be starting to wean him though in the next week - in fact probably tomorrow we will start getting rid of one of his bottles during the day - he will be harder than Olivia - he LOVES his bottles....

luvbug00 replied:

LOL Nooo i think we got you beat, we were much later then that but i'm ashamed to admit how long. we then converted her to those straw sippy things. and she still uses those at bedtime. ( at 7 years old blush.gif emlaugh.gif )

bawoodsmall replied: Emily was 10 months, aiden was 13 months.

lisar replied: I took it away on her 1st birthday.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Before the one year mark...I think he was 10 months, but he was very easy to wean as well. I was always afraid of bottle rot and things like that. Most doctor's say by or around a year. Aiden is way more attached to his bottle than Tanner was, so we will see what kind of a fight he gives us when that time comes. I'm NOT looking forward to it. sleep.gif
