When did you start?

TeagansMom609 wrote: When did you start giving your baby juice? Teagan is going to be 7 mos. and I dont know if thats too early to give her some juice. (1/2 water, 1/2 juice of course)

KatieLeigh79 replied: It tends to be whatever you choose to do, we had JR drink a little by 7 months and he did okay with it, we did it though to try and introduce a sippy cup being we wanted him to not totally rely on nursing and he wouldn't touch a bottle if it was singing and dancing at him, granted he never drank more then a sip of it because it was in a cup but you should be fine with it by 7 months... wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: We didn't try giving Kylie juice til after 12 months..it was more towards 18 months before we really tried it and she didn't even start liking juice til 18 months. Since it is waisted calories I tend not to give it too her much now. She's allowed one juice box a day at home and I think her sitter may give her one there too if she drank all her milk.

It's just a personal preference wink.gif.

Josie83 replied: Cassie started having it at about one, she has squash sometimes now but she's a big lover of water!! xx

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley started 1/2 juice - 1/2 water (may have been a little more water than 1/2) around 6-1/2 months. Her Ped said it was ok to give it to her after 6 months and it helped when she had constipation. Plus, I use only 100% fruit juice (no added sugar), so it's a good source of vitamin C smile.gif. She didn't get juice every day, and it was usually just a few ounces in a sippy cup to let her practice more with the sippy cup.

A&A'smommy replied: Alyssa was ALMOST 6 months, I was told 6months is when you should start.

loveydad replied: between 6-9 months. I gave them water mre than anything, it was stupid to buy a bunch of juice for a baby who would just as well have good, wholesome water!

Now I have to buy a lot of juice anyway so I do give it more. But usually if its for Andriana or the twins, I give them one of those gerber bottles that you can attatch the nipple and collar to. or the smoothie juice! thats great stuff.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I started around 9 months, but Kaitlin did not like any kind, so all she got was BM and water, she did start drinking apple juice at about 14-15 months and now she loves it, has has a couple sippy full a day, but usually she drinks water or milk.

ctymom replied: hmm.. I cant remember! How sad is that? lol I think it was around 7 months or so. She can have 4 ounces in a day (1/2 water-1/2 juice) which equals to one fruit serving.

My2Beauties replied: I started Hanna between 6 - 6 1/2 months, that is when the ped told me it was OK. At first I did 1/2 juice 1/2 water, but now she is almost 11 months and she gets 4 oz of juice a day, just pure 100% juice though. I buy the single size Gerber juice. She LOVES it tongue.gif !! I also give her some juice in a sippy because if she finds out it's water she puts her sippy down or throws it laugh.gif She doesn't like water unless she is hot! blush.gif

mama3x replied: You'd think I would remember since it wasn't that long ago...

I think some time after 7-8 months when we tried Gerber white grape...and even then it was never more than an ounce or two A DAY. My little one doesn't stay still long enough to drink a full 4 ounces of anything at one time.

EDIT: Sorry it's my pg brain...I didn't give her juice until she was chronologically 13-14 months old (10-11 adjusted) because that's when she started becoming interested in a sippy.

ediep replied: Jason's ped said it was ok to give him juice at about 6 months, but he is 2 and still won't touch it. He only drinks water or milk
