When did you get your ears pierced? - If they are...

MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: This stems from the post from Jessi.
I was 7 years old. And now I never wear earrings. I have double piercings in each ear and a cartilage piercing in the left.

TheOaf66 replied: I got mine pierced when I was 16 only one side though wink.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: i was ten, my mom wanted us to make the decision on whether or not we wanted holes in our ears....
later in life i got the second hole put in, but now i never wear ear rings... rolleyes.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: I got mine done on my 13th birthday. My mom and aunt took me shopping and we had a big girly day welcoming me into "womanhood". rolling_smile.gif I quit wearing earrings when I had Katherine and haven't worn them except for the rare dress up occasion.

cameragirl21 replied: I was 8. I have a single piercing in each ear and I always wear earrings even though I rarely change them...I just wear the same ones all the time even though I have plenty of other pairs.
It's fairly common here in Miami for people to pierce a girl's ears as young as six months or younger. I personally am not too fond of that but it's so common that it doesn't even faze me by now when I'm called on to shoot a baptism for a newborn with already pierced ears!

Ellie replied: I got them at the end of second grade. I guess I was 8.

I had a cartlidge piercing when I as 18 but took it out when I had to actually find a job.

TheOaf66 replied: so those of you with sons, when would you let him get an ear pierced? would you allow a tatoo as well?

Jamison'smama replied: 13 was the magical age in my household.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well lets see.. I think I was around 8..my cousin took my for my birthday and got my ears pierced. It was a trip to the mall and being raised as a man it was a new thing.. the MALL..lol

I know have alot of peircing. On one side I have 5 and the other side 3 .. and that includes 2 cartlige piercings in the same ear. I wear little silver hoops everday. Sometimes I take them out of the bottom ones and just wear the other.. the bottom ones are the only ones I have wear fashion earrings to match.

I got my ears pierced again with each of my girls,, and then Tiffany wanted a cartlidge and I had one.. so that how I got a double.

And my belly peirced at 32..lol That was just cause I wanted too. But I would let my girls do it. They can take them out..and I can do a belly more than a tongue or face..

gr33n3y3z replied: I was in my 20's when I got them done on a dare and now I have 6 total in both ears and I want a few more done in the ears.

TANNER'S MOM replied:
Never would I allow my son to get his ears peirced. My husbanb would die.

One of our good friends who is a man has his tongue done.. I walked in the bathroom when Tanner was about 4 and he had an earring trying to peirce his tongue.. I almost died. Nope Nope..

Tattoo's when they are at least 16..prob 18 I have a few tat's and my kids watched the last one. I do say something tasteful and small to start with. Brittany said Mom I want one.. I said on your 18th birthday I will bring you and you can do it. She keeps talking about a Jesus Fish on her bikini line.. I think it sounds cute.. we shall see.

Tanner I am sure will get one.. he is loves them.. I just hope he waits..lol

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yes, I'd allow it, but no funky piercings. And as for tattoos, he'd have to be 18, then it's his decision.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
We were at a b-day party and there was a 3 year old boy who had a diamond stud in his ear. Maybe it's just me, but I found it kind of odd looking on a boy that young.

I got mine when I was 12. I use to have double holes but those closed up from my ears being too sensitive.

mom2my2cuties replied:
NOOOOOOOOO!

Oh - I don't have my ears pierced - but when it comes to Andrea - our decision is -when she is old enough to make the informed decision herself, THEN she can have it done.

Boo&BugsMom replied: I've always wanted to get a wrap at the top of my ear. Anyone have one of those? Does it hurt? I'm a baby! blush.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yes, Jennie, it hurts worse than an earlobe pierce, but not terribly.

kimberley replied: i can't exactly remember but i think i was about 12yo. i am glad my mom waited and let me decide when and if i should get them done.

as for my son's getting them.. well, i would question them as to why they want to do it but if that is the biggest battle i have to worry about... pierce away! not like i can say much anyway.. dh has an earring and an eyebrow ring happy.gif

MyLuvBugs replied: Well, in my family the first ear piercing is a priviledge that you have to really earn (or beg and beg and beg for laugh.gif ), so I had to do SOOOO many chores before my parents even considered it. I think was around 10...like 4th grade?? unsure.gif

But then I pierced my own a 2nd and 3rd time in High School b/c I was mad at my parents rolleyes.gif and got a cartlidge one in my left ear during college b/c I was mad at a boyfriend. rolleyes.gif I'm so messed up! rolleyes.gif

TheOaf66 replied:
I thought that too wacko.gif

MyLuvBugs replied:
Yep....I totally would, but I'm not sure about DH. laugh.gif

Bee_Kay replied: I got mine done when I was 12. Double pierced when I was 18/19. Triple on one ear about a year later..... and my cartilidge done when I was about 25.

TheOaf66 replied: i still would like to get a tatoo one day, I can't find one that Jennie will approve of that I can live with.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I got mine done at 5, but after I asked if I could. My Mom got them done for my birthday. Now I rarely wear earrings. My earlobes are pretty small so I can't really wear something too dangly. I will do the same for my girls. When they feel they are ready then they can get them done.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
I wouldn't mind our son getting one if he were a more appropriate looking age. At least a teenager. Oh my, my father would flip. He doesn't even like my husband's or my brother's piercings. laugh.gif I'm the one that coaxed my brother into getting his...

TheOaf66 replied: when Tanner is old enough to realize the implications of having an earring that he can make the choice himself. I won't say not until your 18 or anything like that (for a tatoo yes after he turns 18)I think 16 is an ok age

paradisemommy replied: i was about 12..but i only got it cause i walked in on my parents dtd and out of guilt they said yes just so i would leave..ha ha ha...

as for male piercings..taven's cousin got them in BOTH ears when he was under 1..i thought it was totally absurd and ridiculous..they eventually took one of them out so now he has just 1...but then again his dad has one too so i'm sure he loves it...he's 5 by the way..

i would never ever ever pierce my son's ears..and will wait until my daughter is around 12ish to do hers..and that's if she wants to

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Wow honey, we agree on something! laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied:
mark it on the calender

gr33n3y3z replied: Erin wants a tatoo I told her when she is 18 lol

John wanted one but his jewish GF told him how they felt about tatoo and he changed his mind.

I have one and I got it done in my 30's and I want one for my lower back but its going to be an orignal and have a meaning behind it and more then one meaning bc this is my last one LOL

Bee_Kay replied: I got Ashley's ears pierced when she was 1 year old.
She got her belly button done when she was 14 (birthday present). Shortly thereafter, she wanted her nose pierced, but I said "no".

Now, she is talking about a tatoo rolleyes.gif I'm not even close to saying "yes" to that.

Lacy got her ears pierced when she was 2. And got her eyebrow pierced when she was 17.

TANNER'S MOM replied:
Well thats the thing with Tats you have to live with them forever. I try to stick with stuff that means something. For me the cartoon characters are cute ..but in 10 years they won't mean anything to me.

The best thing is to come up with an original idea together and have someone draw it. Make it original for you and your whole family.

Abbie has the best one ever for that!!!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
just wondering.....why do you need her approval?

to answer the post I think I was 12 when I got my ears pierced. seconds 18? not sure then I had a thrid done in one ear when DH pierced his.

Yes if I were to have a son he could pierce his ear when he is old enough to decide, same for my daughter. Same for tats when they are 18. I currently have 2 and they both are speial designs and mean something to me and will always mean something.

My2Beauties replied: I honestly don't remember how old I was, I think around 7 or 8. Then they closed up because they got infected, I am so allergic to anything in my ear unless it's real gold (even sterling silver I can't wear). I think I ended up having them pierced 3 times before I didn't let them grow back. Then when I was a teenager (I don't know 14 or 15) my mom let me get them double pierced. I only wear diamond studs in the bottom hole though now, I never ever take them out except to clean them. I can't wear hoops or anything, they get infected. So needless to say, I have no earrings. I won't let Hanna do it until she is old enough to say she wants to do it, around 7 or 8 anbd realizes they have to be taken care of and it's a bit painful, I don't necessarily agree with having them done to babies. The choking hazard thing scares the crap outta me. With a boy, not until he can go and legally get it done himself. Dh's best friend has a son who just turned 1 and they got one of his ears pierced I think he looks absolutely ridiculous rolleyes.gif As far as tats, I got mine when I was 18 and I don't regret it at all (yet) laugh.gif Hanna can get one when she is 18 too, I want to go with her, I love tats.

Bee_Kay replied:
I'm the same way.

I break out if jewelry isn't real gold (earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets, ect). My ears did get infected before (when they were single pierced) and I had to let them close up and then get re-pierced.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Because we don't make those kinds of decisions without each other. I would never go out and get something my hubby didn't approve of either. Especially when you are paying that amount of money for something. We value each other's opinion.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well someone asked if the cartilage hurt. It didn't hurt to have done but it hurt to talk on the phone or sleep on it for a day or two..then it was fun.

Now my belly hurt less than the cartilage..but I gotta wear those low raise jeans and don't wanna catch anything on it.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
I understand, is it more the design or the idea all together?

TANNER'S MOM replied: My hubby wasn't thrilled with my back tat.. but I just got it anyway cause he said honey..if you really want it then go for it..

But we do talk about it.. we don't have to agree but we talk

mom21kid2dogs replied: I was either 13 or 14. I remember there being a big deal about me being able to take care of them.

Funny you asked this. I just asked O if she wanted to get her ears pierced. She said no. I love my little tomboy!! thumb.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Well, really everything. Awhile ago when we first met he wanted a Bugs Bunny tat. I can't imagine him having one now and I knew he'd regret it so I talked him out of it. Also, we live paycheck to paycheck, so it would have to be something we both agree on to go ahead to justify spending that much cash on. It's not a small expense. I guess it's just the fact that we both value each other in a way where we would both want to like it. Same if I ever got one. I would want one that he liked as well. Although, I'm a chicken and couldn't do it though. blush.gif That's just how our relationship is. We talk about everything and like to take into consideration each other's opinions on everything. I don't know how else to explain it other than that.

Kaitlin'smom replied: okay...for DH and I it was more where he was okay with me getting one than the design, course he did not want anythign tacky or that I would hate. Designing was just not his thing. It took me soo long to decide what I wanted and where on the first. The second was easier I told him where I was thinking of getting one and he was like ohhhh yea thats sexy, it was just the design I had to come up with. He wants one, and we have talked about where and what, its just getting the right thing we have in mind and then him getting the nerve to do it.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I was 4 - my sister who was 6 at the time was getting hers done and of course I had to do everything she did. rolleyes.gif I've always had a rough time with earrings and getting infections and stuff. I only have one pair of earrings that I can wear without them irritating my ears, and I haven't worn them for awhile because they need to be cleaned.

3xsthefun replied: I can't really remember, I think I was 11 or 12. I had them done before then, but I always let the holes grow back over.

I got a second hole when I was 18, but they got infected, so I let them grow back over. I'm thinking about getting them redone but not totally sure yet, since I don't wear earrings much.

My girls will get their ears pierced when they ask. Kaitlynn has asked me here lately I told her maybe she can for her birthday, she will be 7.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I was 10...and I still wear earrings almost everyday...just studs.

TheOaf66 replied:
so where is he going to get it if he does...I would like either arm or calf...

Originally I wanted to get one symbolizing the 3 generations of men with same initials in my family (My dad, Me, and Tanner...TJU) but Jennie brought up a good point of the next child feeling left out or less important. My latest idea has been a design of 2 nails forming a cross with blood at the tips and then a biblical message underneath something like "it is done" or a verse in Colosians that I really like...I don't know yet.
