When are you supposed to be able to hear the HB?
Danalana wrote: I mean, we already saw and heard it on the ultrasound, which was a relief...but i go to the doctor on Tuesday, and I wonder if we will be able to hear it by doppler then. I will be 10 1/2 weeks by then. I know some doctors don't try until you are 12 weeks, but it sure would be nice to hear it.
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Sorry -- I cant remember when I heard mine with Doppler. Just wanted to wish you luck ! How are you feeling ?
gr33n3y3z replied: me either hun its been way to long for me
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: We heard Logan's at just past 12 weeks.
Danalana replied: Thanks girls...I feel ok most of the time, though I have had lots of trouble with certain foods. Nausea is touch and go for me, and I can't wait for that part to be over Other than that, it's going well. I get nervous sometimes, but it's good.
BAC'sMom replied: Here I found this.... http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,9851,00.html
Danalana replied: Thank you!
Twelve Volt Man replied: We didn't hear our son's until around 20 weeks. Then again, I refused to try, out of fear that we'd freak out if we didn't hear anything. So, we waited until we returned from a doctor's appointment, and KNEW everything was okay. After that, though, we checked it every 37 seconds for the remainder of her pregnancy.
moped replied: I just heard it at my last appt 2 weeks ago
Bamamom replied: My dr tries at around 10 weeks - but both time he warned me that we might not be able to hear it yet. I hope you are able to!!!
Danalana replied: Yes. That sounds like the kind of maniac I am I bought one of those you can use at home (from Target), but you can't use it til you're at least 20 weeks or something. (sigh*
Heather77 replied: I've always heard that 12 weeks was about normal to first hear it. My doctor tried at 10 weeks this pregnancy, and surprisingly, we heard it... even with my extra padding.
3xsthefun replied: With both of my girls I heard the heartbeat around 12 weeks.
But with Ryan my doctor didn't try to listen for his heartbeat with a doppler until I was 18 weeks pregnant.
Danalana replied: I hope he tries, and I hope we hear it. I have extra padding too
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: ROFL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BabyOwen427 replied: I got to hear mine when I was 11 weeks. I'm sure you'll be able to hear it. It's so sweet to know there is a person in there just hanging out.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I heard both mine at 12 weeks, but I've never had an appointment at 10 weeks. If he doesn't try to hear it, ask him to. You might be able to hear it at 10 weeks - I think a lot of it depends on the position of the baby when they are that small.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: And the position of the placenta. Mine was at the front of my uterus, so every time we went to find Logan's heartbeat, we picked up mine through the placenta first.
PrairieMom replied: I borrowed one of those when I was PG with Benjamin, and I could never hear the HB with it. I tried with my Stethoscope all the time too, and I could never hear it. With AL I never bothered using the thing from Target, I figured , whats the point? but, I could hear her with my stethoscope some times.
DillsMommy replied: This time we first heard it at 10 weeks, I don't remember how far along I was last time.
I didn't know they sold those at target, how cool!
Danalana replied: I sooo want to be able to hear it. But I'm not really a small gal, though most of my weight is in my hips. I wonder if that will make a difference...I just wanna hear it. And I want an ultrasound! LOL But I won't get another one til probably 18 1/2 weeks
Cece00 replied: Its about 10-12 weeks. Dont panic if you cant hear it if you are 10 wks, if your placenta is in the front it makes it harder to hear. That happened to me with Jack.
ZandersMama replied: I heard Zaviers at 6 weeks, BUT I was REALLY tiny when I got pregnant with him. With Zander it was around 14 weeks.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: If they try, don't be alarmed if they can't find it right away.
When I was pg w/ Maddie and Ethan they couldn't find it til after 14 weeks b/c the babies were so low in my pelvis (I have a really loooooong torso.) I really don't think size has a thing to do with it.
lisar replied: I heard mine between 10 & 12 weeks.
HuskerMom replied: With Keith we heard his at about 7 weeks. I can't wait til our first appointment. I'll be about 8 weeks so we're hoping to hear the heartbeat.
Jackie012007 replied: We heard Carly's at about 9 weeks - it's so exciting!
