What's your daily cleaning routine?

MoonMama wrote: Just wondering what some of yours are? I was feeling cruddy for the last couple of days and things were pretty much left undone, and now I feel VERY over whelmed by it all. banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif DH says the reason it seems like a LOT to me is because I'm an obsessive neat freak. dry.gif Thanks! growl.gif So I am wondering what everyone else does daily, weekly, etc.?

cameragirl21 replied: lol, feel free to send some of those "neat freak" vibes this way, i am so the opposite.
my daily routine is making sure i wash all the day's dishes before going to bed and scooping cr@p out of the kitty litter box.
my weekly routine is calling the housekeeper and asking her which day this week works best for her to come clean my house.... wink.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Daily routine...who has a daily routine?? j/k I'm actually a neat freak too. Daily stuff consists of always cleaning the kitchen in the morning. Sweeping the floors, wiping down the countertops and putting dry dishes away. DH typically does the dishes each night since I always cook the dinner, but I have to say...He isn't very neat at it. wub.gif So there is still a lot of cleaning to do the next day. I always have a load of clothes either in the wash or dryer. Or I'm folding some. And I usually pick a day to do one big chore like dusting, vacuuming or cleaning the bathrooms. So that's sorta daily stuff. DH takes the trash out. rolleyes.gif

moped replied: I do what I can with the time I have.....so what needs to get done is, but what can wait will!

redchief replied: Daily routine:

Get up. Look at dirty house. Grumble about dirty house. Go to kitchen, move dirty dishes so coffee pot can be rinsed and filled. Drink coffee, contemplate what part of dirty house needs cleaning. Telephone rings, one of three jobs is calling and needs my immediate attention. Go to work. Come home, move dishes out of the way of the sink so I can find my glass, fill with equal parts Captain Morgan Rum and Pepsi, sit down, enjoy drink while decision on dinner is made. Eat, pile dishes into sink. Watch some tube. Go to bed. snooze.gif Get up.... rolling_smile.gif

Poor Lisa. blink.gif

Calimama replied: Make the bed,
straighten up the bedroom
hang the towels in the bathroom
straighten up Bella's room.

Then I go downstairs and make her breakfast and clean the kitchen, sweep and swiffer all the floors, vacuum if I have time. Throw a load of laundry in, general straighten up in the living room. That's everyday.

Now Saturdays I clean all of the bathrooms, actually mop, clean out the fridge, organize closets, dust.. basically deep clean.

Crystalina replied: I get up really early so I try to clean up whatever mess is left from the night before if there is one. I try to make sure I do a sweep of the house before I go to bed though. I can pretty much get it looking decent before the kids wake up. Then throughout the day I keep after the kids to clean up their messes and I do little things here and there and I always try to clean out a closet or drawer or something like that. I don't work out of the house so I have more time to do these things then a mother who goes to a job everyday. I think if I had to go to work everyday and do what I do now with the house I would not succeed and my house would be a disaster. This is not a "maybe" but a "for sure". wacko.gif

3xsthefun replied: I don't have a daily routine, I just do whatever needs to get done. Unfortunely, right now lot of stuff gets undone and a lot of times my house looks like a big tornado hit it. laugh.gif

Some days I really wish I had someone to clean my house. wacko.gif

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Well,,,,, lets see:

I'm a SAHM and since Sammy is 2-1/2 and Abby is 1, they pretty much require most of my attention during the day. I dont ever do major chores while they are awake. So, throughout the day I spend most of my time chasing after them, playing with them, playing with them, refereeing them, changing their diapers, getting them dressed, cooking for them, cleaning up after each meal and keeping the toys from taking over the house. LOL I'm constanting wiping down the kitchen counters through out the day and picking up after the kids. The only chore I do on a daily basis while the kids are awake is water the plants. They each have their own watering can -- so its a family affair. LOL Sometimes I will try to do some simple tasks while they are awake -- like address a birthday card, make hummingbird water,,etc. Nothing too major.

At night after they go to bed I unload the dishwasher, reload it. Do a few loads of laundry (or at least take clothes out of the dryer, fold them, take clothes out of the wash machine and load them into the dryer, start new load in the washer). I do bills at night (weekly), clean the bathrooms every Monday night (sometimes once over the weekend, too). I usually do my dusting and changing the sheets over the weekend when DH is home and can keep an eye on the kids.

So, in a nutshell : I do the basic chores daily and the major chores weekly.

<whew> Just typing this made me feel exhausted ! wacko.gif

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: oh yah -- wanted to add that I'm a neat freak when it comes to things being out of their place. Drives me nuts when things 'look' messy. So, I do a final sweep before going to bed so that when I wake up in the morning I'm not walking into a mess. That would not be a good way for me to start the day. unsure.gif

Cece00 replied: Every day I clean the kitchen (at least twice), sweep the floors, the kids clean in the playroom, I straighten the living room, and I do laundry. Every couple of days I mop on top of this list and put up piles of laundry (I do so much laundry that its a waste of time for me to put up every load as soon as its done). Once a week I clean bathrooms, sweep ALL the hardwood (about 75% of the whole house...) and "mop" it, dust, vacuum, etc.

luvmykids replied: Daily, I don't do a whole lot. The priorities on the daily list are bathrooms and kitchen, I wipe the bathrooms down daily and swish the toilet bowls. In the kitchen I do the dishes, wipe down counters, etc. I try to sweep and swiffer the kitchen everyday but it doesn't always happen. About every other day I do 3-4 loads of laundry.

You might find some helpful stuff at flylady.org, one of the biggest things that has helped me there is to do things in 15 minute increments. I set the timer and although it doesn't sound long, it's amazing how much I can get done in those 15 minutes when I'm focused. It helps break it all down into manageable chunks wink.gif

redplaydoh replied: When you feel overwhelmed set the timer for 15 minutes and pick a room to clean for that 15 minutes. When the bell goes off stop what you're doing, take a short break and start again in a new room/area. After an hour or two cleaning it is manageable again.

Timesaver tip: Put a cloth in the bathroom and when you are on the toilet (if it's in reach) clean the sink or whatever area you can get to.

Make sure that your kitchen is clean every night before going to bed, otherwise you'll be overwhelmed in the morning.

Can you tell I'm a flylady??? emlaugh.gif

gr33n3y3z replied:
LOL
I guess everyone can tell the dishwasher (meaning not me) is broken

luvmykids replied:
ROFL rolling_smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Clean? Who has time for that? wink.gif

I pretty much just maintain. Clean kitchen, clean bathrooms, pick up as needed...do laundry as needed, etc.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: We're supposed to have a daily routine? OMG, I have a list of things that gets done weekly or every two weeks, but daily? Oh, I feel bad now. The dishes get washed most every day, but not every. Didn't happen yesterday. The livingroom gets straightened up most every evening, but not daily. I sweep the kitchen floor every other day or when it gets nasty. I vacuum once a week.

ETA, I'm calling Merry Maids.

Boo&BugsMom replied: I sweep every day, or swiffer it. I never go to sleep with dirty dishes in the sink, unless I know hubby will do them before he goes to bed. I make sure things are all put away and in it's place before I go to sleep. Tanner picks up any messes he has left before he goes to bed. I usually wipe down the bathroom every day too since it gets used by so many kids each day.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: OMG. I do way too much.

Monica, it's flylady.net, isn't it? lol

I have my daily list of things to do, with and without the kids. Every morning, I spray down the shower after I'm done (I go after dh) and dry it. I swish the toilet bowls upstairs (I have 2 upstairs) and wipe the sinks from the toothpaste crud and dh's stupid beard hairs. I gather all the dirty clothes from the day before and bring it downstairs to the laundry room, and start a load. I used to be relaly anal about laundry... but now I only have whites, darks, towels, socks\underwear, and red. So if I don't have enough for a whole load, it has to wait until I do. tongue.gif

Then I come up to the main floor, unload the dishwasher from the night before, get breakfast ready, feed the kids. They make their own beds before coming down for breakfast. They bring down their clothes too. I have these sweater organizers in their closets, with their clothes laid out in them, including socks and underwear, all they have to do is pick the set they want to wear. happy.gif Well not the baby though. wink.gif Her, I get her clothes while she's having breakfast, and I dress her after I clean her up.

Then I put away breakfast while the kids get dressed, and then they go put their pjs back up in their rooms, and they take the youngest's pjs too.

Then we do our thing, until the buzzer for the washer goes off - then it's mommy time for 10 minutes. After I put the clothes in the dryer of course. After my timer beeps (yay flylady!) the kids and I usually go to the park or for a walk or something, if it's rainy, we'll work on our letters etc... since the brain is more alert in the morning... apparently... and we'll have a small music lesson.

When the dryer buzzer goes off, I get the clothes, then the kids and I fold it and we go put it away upstairs. The kids play in their rooms a little while, and I play with the guinea pigs. They come play too sometimes.

Back downstairs on the main level, I do stuff with the kids until lunch time...then I make lunch, serve it, clean up from lunch while the kids are eating. When they're done eating, I'm usually done cleaning up, then it's nap time \ quiet time for them. I mop the floors really quick, then I have my lunch while fooling around on the computer and having down time, while the floor dries... then when I'm done my lunch I put my dish in the dishwasher and run it - it's just about full from breakfast and lunch dishes anyways.

I have things to do once a week that I do on certain days - for instance one day I dust, another day I'll wipe all the mirrors, inside windows, and disinfect all the doorknobs, another day I'll clean the guinea pig cage from top to bottom, and so on... weekly things I guess, that don't take more than about 30-45 minutes... then I read or I work on a crochet\knit pattern or bake or something...until the kids wake up. If I'm baking, they'll help me finish... then I get them a snack, and off to play outside.

When we come in, they'll help me unload the dishwasher, and start preparing dinner, if not they will pick up the toys and put everything in its place. After dinner, DAD gives the kids their bath, and I clean up from dinner, run the dishwasher, sweep the floor, and I'm good to go. Company ready home. happy.gif

lisar replied: This is how my schedule goes ( I work from 8-5 everyday so I am not home then)
Oh and everyday is clean the kitchen, I can NOT have a dirty kitchen. The kitchen must be clean spotless before I go to bed. I wont mop it but I will sweep it.

Monday: Bathrooms
Tuesday: Living room, dust, vacum etc...
Wednesday: Mop kitchen, go over Lexi and Raygen's rooms. (I normally pay Lexi to clean Raygen's room for me)
Thursday: Bathrooms, Living room.
Friday: NOTHING ( except the kitchen)
Saturday: Pick up nothing major.
Sunday: Entire house from top to bottom (any laundry that wasnt done during the week)

On fridays and saturdays everyone is normally at my house so there really is no point in cleaning it when the kids are just messing it up again. I do make the kids pick up alot though.

PrairieMom replied: I do laundry , dishes and put toys away daily, but Thursday is my cleaning day. I wash all the linens, and clean the entire house. About once a month I feel the need to clean out one of the closets. Wednesday I mow.
I hate cleaning, so I set aside a day when I do it, otherwise it will never get done. laugh.gif
I also go grocery shopping every Tuesday morning.

stella6979 replied: We have absolutely NO cleaning routine. I don't work Mondays though, so that's usually when everything gets done. Except laundry. I feel like I do that EVERYDAY!

coasterqueen replied: Daily routine?

Get up, get kids ready for daycare and get myself ready for work. Feed them breakfast - try to clean it up when they are done so it's not sitting all day while we are gone. Get home from work. Dh cooks dinner, we all clean up the mess. Play with kids awhile, get their baths, put them to bed, then we lightly pick up house and go to bed.

That's my daily routine. tongue.gif I fit in whatever cleaning I can get done whenever possible.

luvbug00 replied: basic dusting. blush.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: I don't have a daily routine. I just do what needs to be done and try to spend as much time enetertaining Blakely as possible. Then, I wait for DH to be able to help during the evenings, he's a really big help!

Farelle replied: Who has time to clean???? tongue.gif
