What's your Turkey Day menu??

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: I wrote mine out today! Anyhow, here it is. It's only me, DH, Wil and FIL...so I'm thinking a small turkey (10 lbs). Please share yours...I want to know if I forgot anything!

Turkey of course
Butternut squash & apple soup with chestnuts (I found the recipe in William Sonoma catelogue)...hope it's good!
Fresh steamed green beans with butter
Stuffing with dried cranberries, celery and toasted pine nuts
Homemade cranberry relish (maybe with orange zest...not sure yet)
Pumpkin pie with real whipped cream
Fresh pear tart (homemade)

I'm not doing potatos or yams since I'm doing butternut squash soup. FIL is sorta a low carb guy anyhow.

3_call_me_mama replied: Chef Rae! It sounds wonderful:) Seriously wanna come cook for me wink.gif We are going to my moms. I make all the pies, 7 kinds homemade fmr scratch, adn we have traditional stuff, nothing interesting, although I am tryign to ge thtem to linger away from just stuffing adn potatoes adn bread to try things liek the butternut squash soup. But it;s a no go. But oh well, there's 25 of us there and a ton of choices... but i always wanted to try one of those unique recipes fomr Marthat Stewart or Williams Sanoma or some elegant cooking magazing.

We have a running joke in our family during Thanksgiving about a fried turkey! I've heard that they are actually really good and juicy...but at the time, no one in the family had ever heard of it and my uncle mentioned doing one! Guess you had to be there, but we all thought he was nuts!! rolling_smile.gif Now it's really popular! But boy, probably messy, huh?
