What's with my little climber?!?
amynicole21 wrote: Sophia will not stop climbing!! It is freaking me out. She has just discovered this new skill, and now tries to climb anything that stands still! We still have her walker out so that we can plop her in there to sit and eat a snack. Well now she climbs onto the tray and tries to get into the seat part I'm so afraid she's going to fall and crack her head! She climbs into her little chair and stands up on it, she even tried to get on top of the leapstart learning table last night! Ugh!!! Is anyone else's little one at this stage yet? I guess I need to get rid of all of these things so she doesn't hurt herself!
MommyToAshley replied: I still stick Ashley in her bouncer once in awhile too. She hasn't really started to climb yet... she did push her leapfrog piano over to the couch and stepped up on it to get something she couldn't reach, but she hasn't started climbing on everything yet. I am dreading this stage and this is one milestone I am not looking forward to!
Guess you have to climb proof your house now... is that possible? Good Luck! <<HUGS>>
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Amy I think it's time to say good bye to the walker! We had to put the exersaucer away because Claudia was trying to climb out of it! I think this is a phase and it will soon pass! WTG Sophia, but try not to give mommy a heart attack!
MomToMany replied: Once they start, it's hard to stop them! Hannah's still climbing on everything; she's figured out how to use Ethan's step-stool from the bathroom to climb up onto the kitchen table. I guess the only thing to do is to make them as safe as possible-but it's natural for them to climb, so have them do it where it's safe.
Mommieto2Girls replied: Maddie is climbing on everything also. She will pull down the couch cushons and that's just enough leverage to climb on the couches. She climbes on top of her walker and gets in it and sits there, then screams for me to get her out, now I just leave her there for a while. It's funny. She is a great climber. I let her sit on the couch now, she was getting off feet first, on her tummy, but now she learned she can sit at the edge and hop off. I almost died. It's shocking how quick they can figure something out.
Guest_jem0622 replied: Gabe climbed his first set of stairs over the Labor Day weekend
Maybe consider using your pack-n-play or other playpen like thing. I have one in the kitchen and I put Gabe in that when I'm busy doing something there.
Do you have a high chair with a 5 pt harness? That might help.
HUGS! Get your running shoes on!
aspenblue1 replied: Isabella is climbing on everything. She climbs up on the couch, up the stairs anuything she can find to climb up on.
Guest replied: Kylie climbs on some things and out of somethings, but not her exersaucer yet. She likes to climb out of the grocery cart, though, still buckled. UGH! I think it's just something we'll have to get used to. SIGH.
coasterqueen replied: oops, that's from me, Amy. Thought I was logged in. Grrr.
chloe&tysmommy replied: Chloe will find things to stand on and it freaks me right out.. the worst is stairs!! If I take her outside the first thing she wants to do is climb the front steps so we really have to keep an eye on her. I try and keep things that are easy to get on out of site ... will they ever out grow this? LOL My brothers little girl had a thing for climbing on the kitchen table and she would stand there until her mom noticed her
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Zach does the same thing! Climbs on EVERYTHING!!! He likes to climb onto the couch and sit down beside me or DH to watch tv. lol!
It's really cute....but he hops off too. Sits on the edge...and just kinda plops down onto his feet.
My dad got him this little car thing for his b-day - Zach KNOWS how to open and shut the little door to get in and out - but he finds it much faster to get in *Dukes of Hazzard* style - through the window.
Although to his credit, if I tell him to use the door, he does.
ediep replied: Jason climbs the steps, he gets upstairs and crawls around into my bedroom, bathroom, computer room,
He actually tries to climb out of his stroller
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade has been climbing the stairs since she was 9 months. She also likes to climb up on the slides in the playground. We have the staircase gated because if it were up to her she would be climbing up it all the time. I can't let her free upstairs because the first thing she does is take off for them. She is a little monkey herself and once it starts watch out.
MomofTay&Sam replied: Sammy is a mastor climber! He has been going up a set of stairs(13) since he was 8 months. Now he goes up so fast we cant catch him! He will climb over anything in his way. It is very scary, he doesnt realize that going down is something scary. Just when we think we have one milestone under control he starts another scary one.
