What's up with this!? - Agrivated! Long Vent!
AlexsPajamaMama wrote: Okay so it has been three days since that guy upstairs returned our cat to us. Coal was missing for 3 days and I believe he was upstairs that whole time. Some how he made his way into the guys apartment through his sliding screen door that does not close all the way....same as ours the way he escaped.
So I get home this afternoon and there is a message from the property manager at the office. She was calling to find out if it was true that our cat got out and peed on that guys floor. I called and left her a message that said yes as far as I know he did pee on Corey's floor and I gave him carpet cleaner and thought everything was all good.
Now the only reason why my cat got away is because of that broken screen door......which I told the maintance guy about and he said he would replace it. That was about a month ago now. So is it my fault that he got away? We had the door open because of the extreme heat and our bedroom gets sooooo hot during the day while DH is sleeping. The screen wont stay closed and Coal snuck out.
Hopefully through all this mess I will get a new door and thats it. I was thinking about going out and buying a bunch of carpet cleaner and deoderizer for that guy upstairs and leaving it by his door. What is his issue!?!?
Thanks for letting me vent! Now I will be able to sleep tonight!
ashtonsmama replied: ARG. Sounds frustrating. Sorry!
Cece00 replied: I think you did a satisfactory job, you gave the guy stuff to clean his floors. You also complained about the broken screen door. I dont really think this is on you. But, I love your idea of leaving cleaning stuff by his door
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Oh I really think I will if he keeps complaining.......how hard is it to get the smell of cat pee out!?! I know its a bad smell, but there are soooooo many products out there.....and he works at a super market, so couldn't he pick something up at work!?!
Bee_Kay replied: Why the heck does there have to be people like that??
You were gracious enough to offer carpet cleaner... IMO, that should have been enough!

CantWait replied: Actually it's one of the most difficult odors to get out. We use to have a cat that would pee on just about everything. We had to throw so much so away because you can't get rid of the odor. I still smell it in this house, and we don't even have a cat.
Sorry, I know it's fustrating, but I can also see his side of it.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Cat pee or Male Cat SPRAY? Coal has never sprayed before....
aspenblue1 replied: Cat pee is the worst smell and the hardest to get out. I know of people who had to ripe up carpet and treat the floors underneath then recarpet to get out. Of course my question would have been did he have a litter box?
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Well....Coal has a litter box at home....but he peed on this guys carpet cuz he ran away from home and snuck into the guys home....where there was no litter box.
aspenblue1 replied: Then to me it is his fault for keeping a cat in a place with out a place to go to the potty. If he doesn't have a litter box where did he expect the cat to go?
mammag replied: Ooh that drives me crazy when people act like things are all fine and good and then go behind your back and complain.....
Sorry he's being a poopie head! I think you did enough and if he had a problem he should have said something to you directly.
PrairieMom replied: Thats what I was thinking!
redchief replied: This won't be a popular opinion, but I'm going to play a little devil's advocate here. Legally you are responsible for your pets and whatever damage they may do to neighbors. The condition of your screen door doesn't exempt you from responsibility for what your pet does.
That being said, it's pretty crappy that you've had to wait so long for a replacement screen. Is it possible for you to replace the door yourself and take it off your rent?
luvmykids replied: DUH!
redchief replied: I think I may have missed something important here. Did your neighbor kidnap your cat?
C&K*s Mommie replied: uh-oh not that is not good at all.
CantWait replied: I think a few people are rather confused. It wasn't his cat. It was Michelles, and Michelle's cat snuck out of her house, and into the nieghbours and did it's business on his carpet.
CantWait replied: Either or hu n, they are both just as bad. Sorry.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Ooh I guess I didn't know that! I do feel awful that his home spells because of my cat. Hopefully today we can get something worked out...I'm waiting for a call back from Valerie the property manager here.
aspenblue1 replied: I know it was her cat. But I understand that he kept the cat in his apartment for 3 days with out a litter box.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: He was just a moron and didnt give my cat back I'm soo mad at him! Now he is having his carpet cleaned at my expense!
