What's for dinner tonight?

I was thinking turkey horseshoes but that would be so fattening the day before weigh-in.

I'm not sure yet--DH just left town for 5 days so cooking will be minimal. Maybe leftover smoked sausage, some kind of pasta and steamed green beans.

coasterqueen replied: Turkey horseshoes are two pieces of toasted bread on a plate, then put turkey on top of that, then put baked french fries on that, then a cheese sauce all over that. VERY fattening, though. You can use turkey, beef, ham, whatever kind of meat you like. It's SO GOOD.

I'm not sure if that is just a central IL thing or what. I know when I lived in southern IL (Edwardsville to be exact) they had no idea what a horseshoe was. It stunk to live down there for 2 years and not get to have one.

I dont know DH is supposed to cook tonight, I will have to talk to hima nd see if we can come up with something BEFORE I get home.

I like a white american cheese sauce the best, but we usually make a regular american cheese sauce. Dh is better at it than me.

He usually takes block velveeta, butter and milk and makes a sauce. It's pretty good. Ok, now I'm REALLY hungry for it. A few restaurants around us 'specialize' in horseshoes.

coasterqueen replied: Well I ended up having to work late so Dh had cold pizza, the girls had a frozen dinner ( ) and when I got home I had an egg sandwich. Glad I didn't end up going to the store.

MommyToAshley replied: We ended up going out for dinner. I had teriyaki chicken, steamed broccoli, and rice pilaf. DH had some kind of shrimp dinner, and Ashley had chicken, broccoli, and potatoes.

My2Beauties replied: I made meatloaf with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy - YUMMMMMM!!! I don't know what to make yet for tonight, I'm thinking tacos!

I think we have 2 frozen pizzas that have been in there for a few months because we don't like the flavors. I have been craving popcorn shirmp for awhile now ... so that is a possiblity, but I love GREEN BEANS! LOL ..

Brias3 replied: We did tomato soup and grilled cheese. The kids still aren't feeling so great so figured the soup would help and as far as grilled cheese, they have been so finicky with food while sick that I KNOW this is one thing they'd eat!
