Whatcha doin'?

I will be working until 4:30pm. Then it's just Logan and I for the evening. I may bring him up to the hospital and watch fireworks from here. I don't want to go to the fairgrounds, there are always way too many people. But the view from the top of the parking garage is fantastic and I could spend the time with some of my friends on the evening/night shift.
moped replied: I am working today - our holiday was July 1......so a normal work day here for me
But it is only a 3 day work week. We had yesterday off in leu of July 1 and then Friday we have off in Calgary because it is the kick off day to the Calgary Stmapede!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Calgary Stampede = Rodeo?
With my crazy schedule, if I am scheduled to work a holiday, I work it. Period, no discussion.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: We had a BBQ and played in the pool at MIL's yesterday Today we have just hung out at home the three of us and got some much needed housework done. Alex has been a busy kid with two sleep overs this weekend, so he is enjoying a quiet day at home today too. It's supposed to rain this afternoon and possibly into the evening so I'm not sure if they will have fireworks here.
moped replied: True......but I have the typical office job......the doors are locked on holidays. But you get additional pay for working holidays right?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Most definately, time and a half baby. I'll be making about $33/hour today. For 10 hours.
moped replied: Rodeo yes.....but the whole city goes wild! It is "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth"..........so it is a pretty good time. Everyday there is a different event to go to and drinking breakfasts and all sorts of stuff to do.
C&K*s Mommie replied: We plan to take the girls to see fireworks for the first time. Well, Christian saw them in Disney World, but this will be a first fireworks show here in town for the two of them.
3xsthefun replied: My parents are going come over this evening for a cookout. My mom had to work today. I'm not sure if my brother & his fiance will be here or not.
So, I'm trying get as much house work as I can before they get here. Rob took the kids with him to his parents for a little while. So hopefully I can get a lot done while they are gone.
ZandersMama replied: Canada here, so working all day and hopefully a swim tonite
Boys r us replied: I've been cleaning house and cooking all day! We're going to one of my best friends house for a big cookout. She and I planned the event and we decided to have it at her house instead of mine(thank god) and so she and I split the food duty! Just today I have made about 65 hamburger patties and made pasta salad and macaroni and chesse and deviled eggs and chocolate chip cookies and chocolate dipped strawberries! She's doing the hotdog stuff and baked beans and potato salad and a dessert. We're leaving to go over there in about an hour. It should be lots of fun about 40 people & we can see the huge fireworks display downtown from her place and also Rick bought TONS of fireworks when he was on a trip to Missouri, so we'll be letting those off too.
Jackie012007 replied: well DF woke me up and informed me that we are aparently having a cookout here tonight and he is inviting all his friends so instead of relaxing I get to clean up our house and make food for hungry men all afternoon... fabulous
good part is, we have a country club right up the street from our house, and they shoot fireworks on the 4th so we just sit on our porch and can see them perfectly!
Halo42101 replied: Hi, Kelly! Happy 4th of July! I hope you enjoy the fireworks with Logan tonight. Around here, most of the fireworks were last weekend. It made us wonder whatever happened to fireworks on the 4th. Anyhow, today we're getting things done like grocery shopping and laundry. It's raining but we're still getting things done that we need to and that's good. Hubby's going to sit outside on our porch for a while. I am going to join him. I will ttyl, Kelly.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Thanks, Jessi. I'm am having a surprisingly slow day here at work. It's nice to make a bunch of money for sitting around goofing on the internet.
luvmykids replied: Not a whole lot, I took the kids to a movie this morning, we all took a good nap, and shortly we're going to a bbq. It's near where the city does it's big fireworks show so I'm hoping we have a good view, they haven't seen fireworks before.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I totally spaced that the girls had seen fireworks in either '05 (maybe '04) but we have a slight change in plans. We plan to go to view the professional fireworks, and then shoot across town to go to a friends house with Chris' former co-workers.
redchief replied: First chance I got to get on today... Fire dept. had to babysit nieghbors to the south fireworks. They shoot them off on the border between our town and theirs. Their side of the line is a playground and field. Our side is filled with hotels and nightclubs... Their fireworks cause us more trouble than they do them.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Ed, I totally know what you mean. My grandpa was the fire chief in my home town for most of my life. And we lived in desert country with a lot of scrub brush. Lots of fires every year.
redchief replied: fortunately it's been wet this year... so brush fires are way down. We had one small fire due to the fireworks was all. They've actually caught the roofs of the hotels on fire in past years.
