What would you rather have... - if you could afford it?
CAMSMOM1 wrote: I had to really think about this one, since I would want them all. But if I had to pick one, I would choose a Maid!!! I would have more free time to do what I want, and I HATE cleaning! It was be so nice to come home to a clean house that I didn't have to clean!
I wonder how much it is to hire a Maid? Monica...don't you have one? You lucky bum!
kayla's mama replied: That was tough. I chose Maid but chef was a close second. I hate cooking and cleaning, maybe I'll get a maid that can cook
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I said Maid! I like to cook and if I had a maid I would not have to clean it up...I would still do my own bathrooms tho-I am freaky about how they HAVE to be cleaned and if I had a maid I may have time to go to the gym and train myself!
ilovemybaby replied: HAHA If I could I would have all of them except the Nanny. I'm quite happy to spend as much time as I can with Abby and teach her whatever I can before she goes off to school. My mum babysits her when I need a babysitter.
I ended up voting for Housekeeper/Maid. I think that if I didn't have to worry about the housework that I'd have heaps more time to spend with Abby and take her places and I would probably love to cook then because I wouldn't be so tired. And I think if I had the time I would enjoy cooking because I could make different things instead of sticking to the same old boring meals every week. I would buy recipe books and try new things. And mostly... I would cook Butter Chicken instead of buying it frozen. It's cheaper and you get more! I would love a personal trainer (even to be able to afford to go to the Gym). The gardener/lawn mower I don't really need. Paul does that. LOL Well, he mows the lawns. I told my mum when she bought the house that if she wanted gardens she could do it herself because I don't know how and didn't really care because I always forget to water the plants HAHA So she does the gardening. But if I had the time and money I would definitely be into gardening. I love so many flowers and I'd love to have my own little garden spot where I could plant them all.
ilovemybaby replied: I also hate cleaning. What we need are Butlers They do mostly everything. Cleaning, cooking... I'm sure they would mow the lawns and do the gardens. I mean, they get paid well. I love the Butler on Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. HAHA They have it good.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I chose the maid. I can cook and I don't need a nanny.
luvmykids replied: I would love to find someone like both my grandmothers had ... they came 2 days a week and just did whatever needed to be done, laundry, cleaning, running errands, cooking.
The cleaning lady I've been using is $70.00, which around here is really reasonable. It's actually 2 ladies and they're done in less than 2 hours. I tried Merry Maids in the past and it was 2 ladies and took them about 4 hours and they charged $120.00. But these ladies do just as well and will do things Merry Maids didn't do.
CAMSMOM1 replied:
So is it $70.00 for a week for 2 hours? I am guessing the do deep cleaning, and they clean the entire house? (dishes, vaccum, dusting, moping,)
Are you home when they clean? Have you ever had any of them steal? I'm really interested in this! If I could somehow convince my DH!!
CantWait replied: I don't really mind doing house work, except for laundry (hence why I'm here instead of attending to the mess at the bottom of my basement stairs), so I chose a personal trainer, because lately I really need the motivation to get back into things.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I chose the chef. Simply because I do not cook, and Chris deserves a hot meal when he gets home at night.
Cleaning the house is not that hard, other than the picking up I have to do daily. The personal trainer was a close second to the chef. Nannies would be nice only for the times when I want to run to the store for a sec while the girls are sleeping. Gardening/yard service is something I did last summer, sometime the neighborhood kids would do it, and sometimes we got a company to come out over last summer to do it for us (especially our backyard )
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I hate doing the laundry myself. It was great in Hawaii because we actually had a laundry room. We would put the clothes in there and forget about them. LOL! Here we weren't so lucky so when it starts to pile up I have to do it.
luvbug00 replied: I dunno. none really I like to try to do stuff by myself. I don't want to have a nanny at all . I want to spend all the time i can with mya even if she gets annoying at times.
luvmykids replied: It's actually like $70.00 for four hours, b/c it's 2 ladies for 2 hours, KWIM? They charge more if they have to pick up stuff first in order to be able to clean, but they change the sheets on all beds, dust, vacuum, mop, wipe down doors, cabinets, appliances, do dishes, etc. They will fold and put away laundry, empty the dishwasher, take out trash. They will also do "deeper" cleaning, like the oven & fridge, baseboards by hand, etc. once a month or whenever I want that stuff done, they would do that OR the regular stuff OR do it all but charge more.
I'm home when they get here and then the kids and I leave to get out of their hair. They just lock the door when they go, so far they're totally trust worthy and I don't worry about it at all.
coasterqueen replied: Oh wow, that's really hard because I'd like a maid AND a personal trainer. Well I'll have to say personal trainer first and then when I've lost all the weight and gotten my body toned then I'd get rid of the trainer and then get the maid!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Definitely a housekeeper!! I hate cleaning with a passion and it just never gets done. I love to cook, I like working outside so if I had a garden I would do it myself, I like to workout by myself and if I had a maid I'd have more time for the kids! (not that I have a lot of kids yet or don't have enough time for the one I have... I'm just thinking ahead. ) I wouldn't ever want a nanny being a sahm is what I've always wanted to do.
MommyToAshley replied: Definitely a housekeeper... although I would probably clean before the housekeeper came over so that housekeeper wouldn't see the house a mess.
I would also love not to have to work, even though I work from home. It is still time I would rather be spending with Ashley... she's growing up so fast!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Can I have a 5 - in - 1? A housekeeper most of the time, a gardener for a few hrs/wk in the summer, a chef when I don't feel like cooking for DH at midnight , a personal trainer to help me with the free weights and stuff, and a nanny for an hr. a day on the weekends so I can go to the gym without feeling guilty for leaving DH with the kids!
If only I could have it all....
~~*Missi*~~ replied: I am way to anal about cleaning and that. I have a gym membership that has free trainers (now if I just used them hmmmm) So I went with Chef I HATE HATE HATE cooking.
I hate it! Hate it. LOL
huggybugboy replied: No contest!! I cant keep my house clean to save my life. I would love to have a maid!
gr33n3y3z replied: I once paid a woman 90.00 for 8 hours that was her going rate But it was just herself and I wanted this house done floors on up minus the windows so for 2 hours would be bad but your getting 2 ppl. but how much cleaning are they doing? Bc I think thats high for 2 hours and how much work can they be doing in 2 hours? Like is the kitchen being done also?
MamaJAM replied: Definately a maid/housekeeper. I HATE cleaning and housework...I'd love for someone esle to do that for me.
MomToMany replied: Definitely a maid. I just don't have enough hours in a day to get it all done myself. I work at home, plus take care of the kids, and cook. The only things I wouldn't want her to touch is the laundry. I LOVE doing laundry, especially diaper laundry!
kimberley replied: tough call for me! i would LOVE a chef because i hate cooking and love when someone cooks for me BUT i need a gardener more because i have no clue what i am doing out there and know how to cook myself. i would probably hire a gardener til they can teach me what to do, then fire them and get a cook!
TeagansMom609 replied: I just saw this poll in my Parenting magazine lastnight!! I would choose a personal trainer. Its the only one that will make my butt smaller. I would rather have a smaller rear end then a clean house, a trimmed lawn, dinner prepared, or someone to watch my kids.
Kaitlin'smom replied: most deffanitly the maid/housekeeper. Since I woke outside the house full time it woudl give me so much more time to be with Kait and I would not have to worry about cleaning.
My2Beauties replied: I chose Chef, as much as I despise cleaning, I could get more done if I didn't have to cook. Of course, the chef would do his/her own dishes
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: You all will think I'm crazy, but DH has been pushing me to get a maid for some time now. I know...what a saint, but I just feel strange having someone else do what I feel is part of my job. I'm strange! When the baby comes, I'll probably take him up on it! A friend of mine has a maid for only $40...I don't think that's bad for once every two weeks. Or maybe just once a month is all we will need.
So I chose chef, although I love to cook, DH and I love gourmet food and it would be great having someone making different entrees all the time!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I choose maid because that is my biggest problem. The trainer would look at me and laugh telling me I needed to diet first and the gardener would be horribly bored at my house. The maid would be busy 24-7
C&K*s Mommie replied: Earlier I had chosen a chef. But I edit to add that Chris needs a 'shadow maid' (if there was such a thing). A maid that would be right behind him to pick up his clothes and shoes that he leaves in the middle of the floor, to put things back when he takes them out, and to turn the lights off when he leaves the room, and to throw things away when he is too lazy to get up himself. All those things he seems too helpless to do for himself. Grrrr...
BAC'sMom replied: I would choose a maid.
fashionmumofboys replied: I picked a Maid. I hate to clean with a passion, but I love to cook.
So Maid for me anytime.
redchief replied: Personal trainer. I just need the motivation.
luvmykids replied: They do it all, they're fast AND good. Dusting, mopping, vacuuming, dishes, change sheets on all beds, cabinets & appliances wiped, bathrooms floor to ceiling, etc. They don't do heavy duty stuff like baseboards, windows except when I want that done. Around here it's a great price.
holley79 replied: I already have a maid, DH. He'd kill me if he read that.
I would rather have a personal trainer. I have always worked out by myself but I think if I had someone to really get after me and to show me the "way" I would defiantly progress quicker.
