What would be your max you'd spend - on flight + hotel for a week

My2Beauties wrote: We're going to Vegas in June, I've been on priceline, travelocity, hotels.com, and a Vegas web site for over an hour now. So far, priceline has everyone beat. The average rate for the hotels we're looking at are between $533-$800 per person for 1 week (that includes flight + hotel) so per couple we're looking at $1066-$1600...what would be your max? Harrah's, Flamingo and a few select others are the cheapest, but I wonder about the quality, anyone have any insight into these hotels. We always stayed at the Tropicana, I don't want to stay at the very end of the strip again, plus last year we had sort of a bad experience there. I want to stay in the middle of the strip, but if the price is right, I'd be willing to move closer to the airport end of the strip (by Tropicana, Excalibur etc...) I won't dare go the other way by the Stratosphere, Stardust, etc....it's bad down that way? It's cheaper if we leave on Sunday and come back on Saturday, but I'd much rather leave on Sat and come back on a Sat....but it's like an extra $100 per person to do this blink.gif

Edited for grammatical errors. Oh yeah and if anyone has any insight on any Vegas deals clue me in wacko.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Ahhh, man... DH and I are going in April. Too bad we aren't going the same time, it would be fun to meet up there. You are way ahead of me, I haven't even begun to look at prices and flights. blush.gif

jacobsmama replied: OMG..I was just posting this same thing. We are going to Vegas in March/April for Passion Parties Annual Convention and the tickets are crazy....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ohmy.gif

I was gonna ask what is reasonable and if anyone new of cheap airlines or codes to try??

Good luck...this is tough! blink.gif

My2Beauties replied:
Priceline is by far the cheapest I've found, I'm talking several hundred dollars cheaper than any other website I've found and in some cases more than just a couple hundred. Flights are outrageous, Northwest Airlines seems to be the cheapest by far, Delta is pretty inexpensive as well. I dare go on a cheapy airline that I have never heard of... unsure.gif

momofone replied: Those prices for a week sound reasonable. I went over 10 years ago for 4 days and paid 500 .

I went thru a travel agent back then if you wanted to try one.

jacobsmama replied: Yea, I won't go on one that I haven't heard of either, but sometimes like places like priceline offer you a better rate then if you just went to like southwest.com or something.

My tickets are like 250-300 so they aren't terrible but I have flown theree before for 99 bucks!! So I am like wow! But I think mine is because we are running into spring break... sleep.gif

My2Beauties replied:
When we went about 4 years ago, our hotel + flight was less than $1000 for both of us for 8 days and 7 nights...now it's gone up considerably for the same hotel, so I'm looking at other hotels now. It's gone up almost $500 for the same hotel, same airline dry.gif

luvmykids replied: I'm really, really picky about hotels so I'd go on the higher end, personally. I know it's Vegas and you're not even in the room much but when I am, I want to enjoy it. We usually stay at Mandalay Bay but I like The Mirage too....it's older but always been clean plus I have the best luck at that casino laugh.gif

flirtycuddle replied: I live here in Vegas and from what I've heard Harrah's is one of the better ones out of the 2. It's a little newer. STAY away from the rivera up towards the Stratosphere it can get really bad at night. Most hotels on the strip are at least decent and not to bad some like circus circus or the rivera are the older and more run down ones. If u have any questions let meknow

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
more often than not, the smaller airlines take better care of you. And if you've never heard of them, they've obviously not crashed too much?! rolling_smile.gif

550 - 800 for a hotel for one week is very good. We'd be paying between 700-1400 for the hotels for a week around here, definitely... 700 being on the cheapy 99$ a night side. Not counting the flight.

ETA - I just reread and realized you meant PER PERSON... um... our hotel costs are for the room, not really on a per person basis. I think some hotels add about 15 - 20$ if you are more than one person though. So maybe 900 - 1600$ for two ppl? 450 - 800$ per person? Sounds reasonable to me.

jem0622 replied: Have you also looked at sidestep.com?

Brias3 replied:
I totally agree on the Mirage. Definitely one of my favorite hotels there- its older, but always clean and the atmosphere is one of my favorites in Vegas.

We've also stayed at Mandalay Bay, the Luxor, the Venetian, the Rio, Tropicana, Palms and Bellagio. I'd say out of those, the most bang for your buck is probably Mandalay Bay or the Rio (which is an all-suite hotel, but its not on the Strip, its right behind it, about ten minutes from the Stratosphere).

I hear Harrah's and the Paris one are decent too, not sure what they are like price-wise in comparison to what you've found. I feel really out of the loop on hotels there though, its been a few years since we've stayed at a hotel there, as we have family in Henderson.

Edited to add: A friend of mine also just told me that Liberty Travel often has good vacation packages for Vegas. I don't know if you'll find anything good on there, but it might be worth a try to check out their website. Liberty Travel

emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif That's a good way to look at it!

Nina J replied: For a domestic flight in my country, I wouldn't pay over $300. We only stay in motels, usually. So around $500-$800 for a week.

I don't think I could pay $1500 for the week, but I've turned cheap lately, lol. I stayed in a $25 hostel last time I needed accomodation. I am planning a trip to Dubai and the Middle East at the end of the year for myself, if I paid $1500 for a hotel for a week all I'd be able to think the whole time was "That would've paid for my week in Pakistan".

If I weren't planning my holiday, I would probably pay up to $1700. It just depends if it is peak season, etc.

If you Fly Mon to Mon it would be cheaper or Tues. to Tuesday

maestra replied: We've gone to Vegas a few times, got married in the Excalibur. My mom recently stayed in the Tropicana. It's ok- not one of the better ones, but not down by the dangerous, run-down end of the strip. I liked staying at Excalibur, and my in-laws love the Luxor. Most of them on that corner are pretty nice, I think, like MGM Grand, New York New York, and Excalibur (not as nice as the other two, but still a good place to stay).

The more you get to the middle of the strip, the more expensive the hotels seem to be, like the Belagio and such. The the further you get down the line, the worse they get and the more dangerous the area.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Why would you want to go anyway? havent't you seen CSI?????

just kidding of course! rolling_smile.gif

jacobsmama replied: I am staying at Bally's because that is where our convention is. The good things is most of mine is paid for but the airline tickets so of course I am being tight about it. I am excited to go to Vegas for the first time without my boys!!!! Kinda scarey. I am gonna check out sidestep thank you! cool.gif

luvmykids replied:
I forgot about Bally's, my dad and his wife got married there. It's been a really, really long time but when we were there it was nice! thumb.gif

jacobsmama replied:
Everyone says it is SUPER SUPER NICE, this will be my first stay there! tongue.gif

grandma replied: My son is going next week for like 3 nights, 4 days and airfare and hotel is $208, I thought that was a great deal!

My2Beauties replied:
This was for flight + hotel so it's $1333 per couple for 2 roundtrip tickets plus your room

My2Beauties replied:
Thanks I'll check that out. The rate that I found was for the Harrah's BTW to everyone, I thought that was a good deal. It looks very nice oh and someone else said something about the Riviera and that end of the strip, the North end, I refuse to stay there, it's bad on that end.

My2Beauties replied:
Actually it's not, I checked.
