What was your 1st job?

CAMSMOM1 wrote: What was your first job? When did you start working?

My 1st job was in 8th grade. I worked for this lady "under the table" at a Laundry Mat. I ran the cash register for her, and even closed up the shop. Lots to do at 14 years old.

My first real job, where I actually got hired and paid normally, was at Little Ceasers Pizza. I worked there for about 2 years. I hated having to come home with all that grease, flour and dough stuck on me! emlaugh.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: I delivered two paper routes a day ay age 10. Actually, when I became a SAHM at 43, it was the first time since then I wasn't being paid to work!

kayla's mama replied: My first job was working in fast food rests. I hated it. Always smelling like grease and always having oily, shiny skin.

C&K*s Mommie replied: I had two first jobs within two weeks of each other. The first was for my BCE (Business Cooperative Education) course at my high-school. Two other programs in this high school, including this one, allowed students to work off campus for pay. Mine was on the campus, with my best friend. The other was still working at the high school but at night for the night school.

They began when I was 17, just after my senior year of high school began in August '95.

C&K*s Mommie replied: I do not miss not working in a restaraunt, there was not enough washing my aprons & uniforms or Febreeze to cover up that smell that lingered in my clothes. I think that is why I am so self conscious about strong food odors getting into my clothes now, esp while I am driving and eating. blush.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I worked for an Assisted Living retirement home. I worked in the kitchen and basically it was like a restaraunt...except you didn't leave a check and you didn't get a tip laugh.gif .

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I worked in a resturant as a waitress since 8th grade. Then I worked in a factory for a summer and now I have the job I have now.

luvmykids replied: Weinerschnitzel. I quit when my boyfriends soccer team made it to the state playoffs and my boss wouldn't give me the day off....

jem0622 replied: I answered phones at my church rectory. I also stuffed bulletins for them. I earned $2/hr for that job! LOL. I was in the 7th grade.

J-rod replied: in the 7th grade i had a paper route to save $ for a new hunting rifle. lol

when i was 14 i started working construction for my uncle in the summer.

first real job was sr yr in HS at BK. puke.gif was really hard playing soccer and working but i made due, my grades suffered but hey...i played varsity sports and had $ what else could a HS guy ask for. LOL

hated it so bad when i quit i couldnt eat there for almost a year. lol

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I started doing some filing and correlating type work at my mom's office when I was in junior high, but my first real job in which I got it on my own was at this little fruit stand around the corner from my house. I had to be there at like 6am or earlier and load up this little flat bed truck with all the vegetables from a walk-in cooler. The truck was a stick, which I didn't know how to drive (still don't)...plus I didn't even have my license! But it was only driving it down a small dirt path to the stand. I would then have to setup all the vegetables, make it look nice and open the register and the door. I was totally on my own and I was maybe only 15 or so. I remember having to pick through the corn and strawberries and pickout the moldy ones or the ones with worms! Totally gross! But taught me the meaning of HARD WORK!!! And then I had to load it all back on the truck at the end of the day and close up. I probably got paid maybe $4.25 an hour!!! LOL!

MyLuvBugs replied: Hmmmmmmm......Well, I was 16, and started working for the county as a "free" babysitter for families that couldn't afford daycare. rolleyes.gif Then the county would pay me for my time. It was the dumbest job! Well, not dumb I guess. It got me experience with kids, but getting paid by the county was dumb.

My first job that I actually liked and got paid quite a bit for, was working in a movie theatre. Free movies and popcorn!!! laugh.gif That was fun. smile.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: My first job wasn't until I was 17. I worked in a small town bakery from noon to 5 tuesday - friday. I was there by myself and had to run the till, do the daily cleaning, and do some baking. Then I had to close everything up and count the money and take it to the bank. I usually had plenty of time in the day where there wasn't anything to do - I was supposed to be doing my school work but I usually wrote letters or read books instead. rolleyes.gif

edited to say, I started babysitting when I was 12, and I got paid to spray soybeans a few summers before I got my bakery job but I never count those as a real *job*. wink.gif

kimberley replied: delivering flyers when i was 13yo
then dishwashing for a chinese rest. at 14yo and photo lab for the next 5yrs.
then on to bartending, secretary whatever lol

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
I actually did this for my sister when I was about 15-16. Our county had the program where they would pay for the child care only if it was done by a family member. Before I started getting paid by the county for it I was doing it for free so it was fine with me. tongue.gif My mom actually took it over when I got a real job, and did it until last year when my sister was finally able to stay at home. happy.gif

PrairieMom replied: I worked at KFC starting at 15. I worked there for 3 years, then only durring the summers when I moved back from college. I still don't know the 11 herbs and spices! laugh.gif

TeagansMom609 replied: My first job was when I was 14, I worked at a place called Styer Orchards. I was a cashier in their store.

BAC'sMom replied: First job was working at a pet shop I was about 15.

Mom2BNTN replied: My first job was at a Po Folk's Restaurant. I was a hostess on Sundays and a waitress the rest of the time.

J-rod replied: Po' Folks is awesome!!!

My2Beauties replied: I worked at K-Mart as a cashier/floor person. I hated that job. Got fired from there for reasons I won't mention blush.gif , I was 15. Then I worked at a restaurant, ok I'll say it even though I dogged them out in the other post, Wendy's for almost two years. I hated that place.

zdk753 replied: My first job was when I was 16 & was at Braum's (not the same one mentioned in the other post). Me & my brother both got hired there on the same day. It lasted for a few days b/c one of the asst. managers slapped my brother for not taking the trash out fast enough. I in turn slapped her then we both walked out.

CosmetologyMommy replied: A day camp counselor at age 13 in Chicago. I loved every minute of it but only got paid $20 a week! dry.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Besides babysitting and filing paperwork/answering phones at our church My first Real job was as a lifeguard when I was 17-when summer ended I worked for 2 days at a dry-cleaner. laugh.gif ...by then Bill and I were dating and planning a wedding so I have been a wife and then a mom since then...We have our own company now so I run office here but that is just part time until we get bigger......

My3LilMonkeys replied:
I KNEW it was Wendy's you worked at - they're the only ones (around here at least) who use both drive up windows! rolling_smile.gif

My first job was working in a restaurant.

mommymonster replied: My first job was at Chukie Cheese. I worked there for about a year. I came home with migrane's everyday, so I quit and went to Sonic. Belive it or not the tips were a lot better! tongue.gif

CantWait replied: Beside delivering flyers and babysitting. My first job was doing outbound telemarketing. I worked there for 3 weeks, and by the end of it I had missed about 4 shifts. I hated it so much and I was terrible at it. I never once made a sale unsure.gif

MamaJAM replied: My first 'real' job that I filled out a W-2 for was as a lifeguard/swim instructor -- I started that 1 month before I turned 15.

Before that I had been a babysitter (starting at age 12) - helped my older brother with his paper route (starting at 10) - and was a "mother's helper" for a lady who lived near-by (started that at age 8).
