What time should a six year olds bed time be.?

lisar replied: Lexi goes to bed at 8pm. Alot of that is because she is just like me. If she dont get enough sleep then she is a major brat. So I make her go to bed at 8pm. I think it is the perfect time for her. Every child is diffrent though.
JP&KJMOM replied: Without knowing what time yours gets up it is hard to say. My ds is 6 and he goes to be between 7:30 and 8:00 and is always asleep no later than 8:15 but he gets up at 6:00 am every school morning. If he goes to sleep any later than 8:30 he is nothing short of a BEAR to get out of bed in the am. Hope that helps.
BAC'sMom replied: My DD goes to bed at 9:00 if it's baseball season it's later.
mom21kid2dogs replied: How does he react in the mornings when he doesn't have to follow the routine? If left to sleep, how long will he sleep in til? what parts of the morning are going poorly . . . . .his waking, dressing, eating, getting ready in a timely manner? Sometimes morning issues are unrelated to sleep but related more to a clash in schedule/time frame.
3xsthefun replied: Kaitlynn usually goes to bed at 9 pm.
momOf5 replied: All 5 of mine go to bed at 8 pm. I find it is a good time to have them end their day. But in my case 8 pm is more for me than anything. If it is to hard to wake him up in the morning then yes 9 pm is to late. Try 8:30 at first, if you still have morrning problems then go earlier. Good luck!
A&A'smommy replied: that may be to late for him change it to 8 and see if works for you!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: My daughter will be 6 in a couple of weeks. Her bedtime has been 8-8:30 since last summer and it works well for us.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Our son is almost 4 and he goes to bed at 8pm, although he wont fall asleep until 8:30 most times. It seems to be the norm from what I'm reading. If it's on the weekends it may be later, like 8:30/9:00. He also takes a nap still during the day though. I'm guessing yours doesn't being that he's in school. How early does he wake up? Could this have to do with the fact that mom sleeps with him til he's alseep?
Brias3 replied: My kids, ages 7, 5, and 2, are really too much of a handful at bedtime to be put down separately so my 7 and 5-year olds will usually start the bedtime routine the same time their younger brother does. We'll be brushed up and reading stories by 7:30 most nights and they'll all be IN bed by 8pm no later. My older two are big sleepers and with us having to be out the door for school by 7:30, they have to wake up by 6:45 or so in the morning. I would never be able to get them out of bed in the morning if they got LESS sleep. Summers are different of course as far as schedules go but my kids personally definitely require at least 10 hours of sleep per night to function as "themselves".
jjsmommy02038 replied: My son goes to bed too late, sometimes 9:30 or 10 before he falls asleep. He went to preschool in the afternoon this past year so it was not a problem. When he starts K this fall it will be a different story. I am trying to wake him up earlier so he will be tired enough to fall asleep. It is sooo tempting to just let him sleep in but I pay the price at night when he can't fall asleep.
moped replied: 7pm
Kaitlin'smom replied: guess it depends on what kind of hard time your getting. Kait is in bed normaly by 8:30p I would prefer 8p but a few nights when I work later it just does not work to get home and rush.
Brias3 replied: My older two are hovering around the same age and really just aren't themselves unless they get a good, solid 10-11 hours of sleep per night. Therefore, during the school year, we try to have them in bed by 8:00 or 8:30 at the latest. During the summer, I'm more lax but they can sleep in a little later then too so it's a different scenario.
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley is usually asleep by 9pm. (She's almost 4) I would love for her to go to bed earlier, but she never falls asleep before 9pm. She sleeps until 8:30/9:00 most mornings.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: we put the kids down after we go for a walk after dinner and they've taken their bath... so probably by 8pm now, they're all in bed, and Emilie usually isn't "sleeping" until 10 or so... we've tried cutting out her afternoon nap - she's REALLY cranky between 4 and 7pm - but she goes to bed MUCH MUCH MUCH easier now.
Mommyof3 replied: My daughter is 6 and in bed at 8:00pm every night. It's extremely hard to get her up for school at 6:00am if she goes to bed any later and there are just times when she doesn't want to get out of bed at all in the morning. I think that as she gets older she values her sleep more.
LibraGirl replied: Right now it's 9 (he's 6). When school starts we'll bump it back to closer to 8.
Tracyisme replied: I suck at enforcing bedtime... I only get to see her for 2-3 hrs in the evening (during the school year). In that time we have to cook, clean, homework, bath....
I'm not looking forward to the school year starting.. i miss her!
