What should I do? - OB/GYN appt tomorrow

amynicole21 wrote: In September I made an appointment with the first OB-GYN I called, who couldn't get me in until Novermber 4th. I then called another practice who could see me within a week or so. I ended up going to dr. #2 (my current doc) but forgot to cancel the 1st appt. Today I got a call reminding me of tomorrow's appt with dr. #1... oops! I can't decide if I should cancel the appt or go... maybe I'll like this practice better? Plus, maybe I can actually persuade them to give me an u/s to date the pregnancy, though it's probably too late to be very accurate. rolleyes.gif I would not enjoy getting the pap and going through all of the regular 1st appt stuff, though. I could be honest and tell them that I've already done all that and am just checking out alternative doctors... what do you think I should do?

kimberley replied: well how do you feel about the doctor you already saw? i would go just so i wouldn't wonder... what if they were better biggrin.gif . if you do go, i would be honest with them that you did all the first appt stuff already and are checking your alternatives. good luck! thumb.gif

amynicole21 replied:
They're ok... I'm not in love with the practice though. The midwife made me feel really stupid for insisting I start progesterone supplements. dry.gif

booey2 replied: I agree with Kimberley thumb.gif , definitely go and be honest about checking into an alternative to the doctor you presently have. If they are better then you will have made the right choice but you won't know til you check it out and if they aren't well you really haven't wasted anyone's time cause it is always reasuring to know that everything is progressing correctly.

kimberley replied:
then i would definitely go. having a baby is such an important event in your life, you deserve the best care! don't feel bad for checking out your options.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Well, I believe in signs. I think this is a sign that you should go. There is a reason why you didn't cancel it (other than forgetting).

Let us know how it goes! thumb.gif

coasterqueen replied: Well if you are just going to get an u/s I wouldn't do it. You know the dates are pretty accurate don't you? Or within a week or so....right? But if you don't like your current doctor it doesn't hurt to go to the other one and just be honest your checking into alternatives wink.gif.

Jamison'smama replied: Would your insurance let you go through all the initial stuff again? I would just do what everyone else is suggesting and check them out as an alternative.

aspenblue1 replied: IF you are not impressed with the one you have switch. I did when I was pregnant with Isabella. But they did all the things over again.

MommyToAshley replied: I agree, go and let them know that you are looking into alternatives. Besides, if you do like them better then they will have to transfer your records and they will know that you had already been through all the initial testing anyways.

When I was PG with Ashley, I went back to the same practice I had gone to the first time I had gotten PG. But, my doctor (that I had really liked) was no longer there. I wasn't crazy about the new OBs at this practice, but I kept going back because they had my records and I didn't feel like explaining my situation to someone else all over again. I felt like these new docs were just rushing me in and out, and then they kept billing us incorrectly. So, finally, when I was almost 6 months PG, I switched docs. I loved my new OB and wished I had done it earlier. So, my suggestion is that if you are not crazy about the practice, it doesn't hurt to look into alternatives.

Let us know how it goes!

MomToMany replied: I agree, go to the other appointment. You might like it better!

gr33n3y3z replied: Tell them the truth your checking out alternative doctors.

Nicole replied: Do you like the doc you have now? And will your insurance cover two the cost of seeing two ob docs?(even if it is to see one of then just one time) And if you don`t like the one you got that much and it`s covered i would go, if you like this guy/lady and it don`t cover, just call and tell you`ve found a ob already that was able to see you sooner, on the other hand any good ob just like any good doc has a long wait that tells you they have people going and willing to wait to see them.
Good luck no matter what you do smile.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif I think you should just go and be honest with them! I agree with Aimee this is a sign! Let us know how it goes!

Orchidstra replied: I switched doctors three times within the first two months because I am *SO* picky! So, if I were in your situation, I would definitely go just to see if I liked doc#2 any better. smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I agree go and check out your options
