What scale do you use - and is it accurate??

MomToMany wrote: I'm ready to throw mine out the window! I KNOW it's not accurate! I can weigh myself once, and 5 minutes later (without doing anything) weigh myself again & it says it's 5 lbs. heavier banghead.gif !

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'd say you need to get a new one. I own a Weight Watchers brand scale. Nothing special...pretty simple. I got it at Wal Mart. thumb.gif

coasterqueen replied: I don't know what kind I have but I know it's wrong.

I weigh myself three times every time and get an average tongue.gif I can step on the scale one and get a weight then the next time I can weigh 5 pounds less or 5 pounds more. growl.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I have a cheapo $5.99 one I got at Target. It's not digital. I think those kind are always off! But not to make you angry, but those five lbs up, or five lbs down could just be water weight. I always notice a difference when I've had a lot of salty food. Major bloating. Five pounds up. Next morning, it's down again. I think the doctor's office type are always a sure bet.

MomToMany replied: It IS a digital one. I'll get a regular one next time we are at the store. And no, you haven't upset me wink.gif .

coasterqueen replied: Hmmm, mine's digital too. I think I might just trot out and get a new one this weekend as well. tongue.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: My regular scale was off so I bought a digital. I could never get the regular one calibrated right. dry.gif The rule of thumb is, if you step on the scale three times in a row and get the same weight then your scale is accurate and that is your weight. (not three times in one day...in a row) wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
That's what I do Aimee. I step on the scale three times (several seconds apart) before I get in the shower in the morning. Then take the lowest one out of the three. Usually 2 of them are the same, one might be 1/2 pound off. But there are some mornings when I can step on there and be 165 and the next time I do it (seconds later) I'm 130+, uh that would be AWESOME but not accurate. tongue.gif laugh.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
LOL! Yep, time for a new scale. tongue.gif Mine was doing this, too. Besides, I weighed one thing on my scale and when I tried other people's scales it would say I weighed a lot more. (very disheartening sad.gif ) Come to find out, my scale was wrong so I got a new digital and I double check it with my weight at the gym to make sure it is correct.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: My mom has a digital one called Thinner. It's the one you tap with your toe a couple times and then step on it. I'm always lighter on that one then I am on my cheapy one. Gosh, I don't know which kind works best. I also don't know whether it's best to use it on tile or carpet. The number is always different!! Today I am five pounds down..hooray..but I actually feel heavier, kwim?

I say THROW OUT THE SCALE ALL TOGETHER!!! What do you say?? Because if you're like me, I'm obsessed with getting on it. It's certainly not a healthy habit of mine.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well.. I have one from Wal mart.. it was 9.99.. and it is accurate.

I think there are some tips to weighing. Weigh at the same time everyday..and always pee first.

For me it's first thing in the morning when I step into the closet.

Tile is better.. I find that carpet throws it off.. and I am sure the factory where it is made doesn't have carpet..lol

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I agree...never weigh yourself on carpet. thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I only weigh in on carpet when I feel really fat laugh.gif cause my carpet reading is sooo nice to me 20-25lbs off. i also have a digital and its accurate, I weigh in stame time and on tile

3_call_me_mama replied: sleep.gif I don't own a scale sleep.gif It was far too depressing. SO i need to get my life in order and get happy befoer i purchase another.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Oh good! That's a good point Mel about the factory and carpet! lol! I just moved mine back to carpet to see the difference and it made me a lot heavier unsure.gif ...so it's going back to tile!

Mommy2BAK replied: I own a Thinner. I know it is acurate because I always weigh myself right before I go to the doc. then come strait home and re-check. My weight fluxuates all the time. One day I will be 120 the next day I will be 125, it's so annoying. rolleyes.gif
