What next?!?!? TMI - The butt saga continues.
PrairieMom wrote: My poor guy is still struggleling with the Constipation / Poo issues. Its been a month now, and when he Poo's he bleeds. He has done that for the past month, and it isn't getting better so I took him to the Ped yesterday to get him checked out, and she said that he looked a little red down there, so they cultured him. Guess what.... He has Staph. Also, if he doesn't stop bleeding by next Wed. I have to take him to a specialist just to make sure that everything is okay. My poor little guy.
Anthony275 replied: where do you think he got staph from?
MommyToAshley replied: Oh no, Poor little guy... did they give him any meds to help fight the staph? I hope he feels better soon.
moped replied: Oh No - Poor guy.......so would you have carried it from the hospital?
luvmykids replied: Oh no! Poor Ben
MoonMama replied: OH NO! Poor little guy. Lots of PTs
PrairieMom replied: Yeah, I could have, I probably did, but he could have picked it up from the grocery store, or Preschool too. There is no way of knowing. I wash my hands a lot and wear gloves at work all the time, so I am as careful as I can be, but you never know. He probably tuched something with it then scratched his butt.
boyohboyohboy replied: tara, i am sorry to hear about ben. poor guy. did they happen to mention maybe increasing the miralax? also did they say if he might just have a fissure inside or hemorroids, that could cause the bleeding.. by specialist do you think he might get a colonscopy? caleb had all the above done, and he also had a polyp on the inside of his rectum, and it was removed he was totally fine, and the poo issues stopped and the bleeding also.
ben is in our prayers, and you know as a medical prof. that all this is scary to him, but something he can tolerate easily..i am thankful for that...a colonoscopy while scary is pretty simple procedure.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh no, poor Ben. I'm so sorry, but I guess it's good you now know what it is exactly. Makes me want to take Wil in now....He's had this rash on his tush for several weeks now, it comes and goes, but he complains that it burns and it gets super red sometimes. He's also had really soft stools for quite sometime. I'm embarassed to admit I've been ignoring it, just assumed it was all the fruit I feed my kids. Maybe I should check it out to see if it's the same.
Sorry, I know you have posted before, but were the symptoms only constipation or did he have soft BMs too?
Calimama replied: Poor Ben!! I'm sorry, I hate it when kids get sick.
lovemy2 replied: Oh the poor little thing - how did he get staph there????
Olivia had problems with constipation - more though that she just poops little pellets - like little turds but now she poops better but at times there is a little blood - I feel your pain - it is horrible to watch them struggle
HuskerMom replied: I hope he feels better soon!
PrairieMom replied: I think the dose of Miralax I have him on is okay,
TMI!!! Skip the next line...
he basically has soft serve ice cream going on, anything more and we would have dirreaha (SP) He still screams in pain every time he poo's tho.
Okay come back!
The Dr looked at his anatomy and didn't see anything but she can't see what is going on inside, so I think he will be needing a scope. Just to see if it is a fissure or hemorrhoid, or if I really need to be worried or what. Right now i'm not worried, I am just dreading putting my baby through the IV. I know the rest will be super easy.
kit_kats_mom replied: Lauren is back to being constipated so I feel your pain. Poor kids
She had a fissure awhile back it it was awful. Now, anytime we notice she hasn't gone in 24 hours, she gets a full cap full of miralax with a sippy of juice. If she doesn't go in 12 hours or so, she gets another and a teaspoon of mineral oil. That usually takes about a day slide through, but it works really well. This is all per our pediatric GI dr.
We also use a ton of diaper cream when she's constipated and I'll sometimes put a smear of neosporin on her ummmm....hole......so that it won't hurt as much when she does finally go. It's truly a miserable experience.
One more thing, even if there is poop, he could still be constipated. Lauren had a large turd blocking the way and the liquid poop was going around it. It was a miserable miserable time. A week after that started (which was when her fissure showed up) we had to do an enima and the screams when it finally came out were horrid.
Good luck
PrairieMom replied: Thats where we were a month ago when this whole thing flared up again. The Dr didn't feel anything else in there the other day when we went in, so I hope we got over that. How can something so natural be such a pain? I knew when he was 4 months old that this was the road we were on, I just never imagined that we would be here at 4 1/2 years.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Poor little thing. I hope he is better soon.
lisar replied: ON NO poor little guy. It must be so hard on him. I hope you get answers soon and he gets MUCH better fast
