What movies have you seen lately? - Would you give thumbs up or down?

MommyToAshley wrote: I'm looking for a good movie for a date night with the hubby. It doesn't really matter if it is playing at the theater or we rent it. Any suggestions or any to avoid?

Kaitlin'smom replied: BRUCE ALMIGHTY--VERY FUNNY

I laughed sooo hard! Great work out for the abs!

maliksmommy replied: First I'd like to say that I love the new Avatar:) ONce again she is just too cute!

I haven't seen a movie in a year so no help here, sorry. Although I can think of a ton I'd like to see. I hope people have some good suggestions because I think me and DH might go see one this weekend while my mom is watching DS.

ashade75 replied: We are going to the drive in this weekend to watch 2 Fast 2 Furious. I hope it is as good as the first one.

I really havent watch alot of movies lately. The last movie we rented was Ghostship but that was ac ouple of months ago.

If you want you can go to the drive in with us. We could park next to each other. (Hehe) If the car starts rockin' (j/k)

Kaitlin'smom replied:

whos car? hehehehe

jdkjd replied: Recent Rentals:

Far from Heaven- Thumbs down (depressing and slow) Has Julianne Moore as 50s housewife married to Dennis Quaid as closeted gay man. (I know other people who love this movie though)

Amelie-Thumbs Up. If you don't mind subtitles this was a really sweet movie.

Drumline-Ok. I love marching bands so I enjoyed this one.

Two Weeks Notice-Ok. Romance Comedy, but better on the comedy side than most.

Adaptation-saw it in the theater-ok but very complex. Think Being John Malkovich plus about three layers of reality. Made my head hurt at times.

Movies:

Bend it like Beckham-Really enjoyed it -not hokey.

Bruce Almighty-fun.

Matrix 2-ok for the action but lame love story.

Old School-said it before-would have made milk come out my nose if I had had any.

jcc64 replied: Took the kids (including baby) to see "Finding Nemo" and loved it. If you appreciate a visually stunning movie, see this one in the theatre. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this one.

kit_kats_mom replied: dh & I saw daddy daycare last night. Kinda hokey, but funny. Dh laughed out loud a few times...thumbs up.

mckayleesmom replied: super troopers............funny....love that movie
Boondock Saints.........one of my favorite movies......hot guys wub.gif
The Transporter.............good.......hot man rolleyes.gif
Treasure Planet............cute
Death to Smootchy........finally watched it,,,,,,,funny,,,,but not very realistic

jdkjd replied: OMG-Super Troopers is the funniest movie I have seen in the past two years!!

Meow.

Schnoogly replied: Jenn do you have netflix? You rent so many movies! We started netflix after Iain was born so I could have something to do while holding him all day smile.gif while he sleeps. I've seen lots of the same movies! Here is what I thought:

Far From Heaven--liked it actually. But it is slow. You have to be in the mood.

Monsters Ball--soul crushingly depressing.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch--AWESOME I loved this movie (but don't watch it with the kiddos)

The Cat's Meow--pretty good, not as good as I'd hoped.

Insomnia--good, creepy

I am Sam--good, made DH cry smile.gif

Frequency--really good, not as predictable as I thought it would be

Y tu mama tambien--good (also not one for the kiddos)

Amelie--really good, really French though if you know what I mean

The count of monte cristo--liked this one a lot

X2--awesome! Love Ian McKellan

Kate and Leopold--love Hugh Jackman but totally cheezy.

Heather replied: I haven't been to the movies in a very very long time. THe last movie I saw at the movies was Sweet Home Alabama...LOL. I loved it though!!! I want to see Bruce Almighty. I like Jim Carrey.

mckayleesmom replied: ooooh I dont know why I forgot this one cause i thought it was really good, scared the @#$% out of me.....The Ring........don't let the kiddies watch this though.

MommyToAshley replied: I watched 1/2 of the Ring and then Ashley woke up (she was upstairs, we were watching it downstairs). DH's parents were here so I told them to go ahead and finish watching it therefore I haven't seen the end of it yet. But, DH said that it was the scariest movie he has seen. Now I am too scared to finish watching it.

mckayleesmom replied: ya it spooked my husband too, it reminded me of Stir of Echos but scarier, Stir of Echos is also a good movie.

kit_kats_mom replied:
Netflix ROCKS! I HATE returning movies so it is so convienent. Great selection too. Highly reccomend it.

jdkjd replied: I just go in every couple months and go on a rampage. That way there is always something I want to see instead of just crapola.

How do you return the NetFLix DVDs?

kit_kats_mom replied:
Put them in the sleeve, seal them, put them in your mail box and throw the flag up. Pretty darn easy! rolling_smile.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Jenn, if you are interested, go to their website and see what they have (they have ALOT) www.netflix.com . Next time we get together, just remind me and I'll bring you a discount card. I think you get a free month or something like that. thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: So moomytoashley and Idea what you might see? Lots of ideas here!

CantWait replied: I can't remember what we've watched recently except for Jack*ss, and that was the funniest movie I've ever seen.

msjennbug replied: we recently saw:

2weeks notice - was good. I watched it twice. Cute comedy flick. Enough to keep you lauging and not so much romance that the dh will wanna leave the room.

maid in manhattan - very cute flick, though quite predictable and pretty sappy for dhs.

my big fat greek wedding - I did not think this was as funny as it was made out to be in the reviews and such. It wasnt a bad movie, it was cute and funny - just not rolling_smile.gif funny.

we havent been to the theatre since the most recent star wars movie! LOL. we rent and usually after it comes out on the cheaper shelf! LOL.... but these we've seen recently.

jenn

MommyToAshley replied:
I am thinking Bruce Almighty... it looks really funny. I haven't asked DH what he wants to see yet though.

mckayleesmom replied: I thought I was the only one that didn't care for my big fat greek wedding,,,,I expected to laugh my @## off and instead I turned it off and went to bed.

CantWait replied: same here, Big Fat Greek Wedding was ok, but I don't see what all the hype was about.

CantWait replied: same here, Big Fat Greek Wedding was ok, but I don't see what all the hype was about.
