What is your cold medicine of choice - for your babies?

I have Tylenol Cold and Baby Motrin I think, but I honestly don't think anything works
MomToMany replied: I'm no help; I use the Tylenol Cold or the generic equivalent. I also use it as a last resort (usually before bed so they get the rest they need). I will just make them as comfortable as possible, and make sure they drink plenty of plain water since a runny nose uses so much moisture.
Sorry Jack-O-Monster is sick. Hope he feels better soon .
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Pedia-Care Cough. We can't use any decongestants for Logan because of his heart. So only cough medicine. I use a humidifier in his room, and used to raise one end of his mattress, but now he rolls too much for that. So, sorry I can't help more.

You're right. Other than pain relievers for high fevers, I don't give my kids any cold meds. My ped. brother believes they do more harm than good. Sleep, fluids, time, and mommy's love are about the only things that combat a virus like that. Hope he gets well quickly!
coasterqueen replied: We don't give anything for colds either. We were told cold meds, decongestants, etc are VERY BAD for children. We got scolded by our PED (not really) because we were going to use some once w/Kylie.
moped replied: Ok, now I need to know why it is bad???????????????
I had no idea
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Decongestants can raise blood pressures in everybody, not just kids. It typically isn't dangerous for most children, but for those with heart issues, it is NOT recommended. That being said, Logan's ped said that cough meds, alone,k are not too bad. And they help Logan sleep. I usually only use them at night like Mollie.
mckayleesmom replied: I use to use Tylonol infant cold for Russell until I realized that it makes him edgy and he can't sleep on it. His cold is over now though. Mckaylee I use childrens nyquil or Robitusin.
massagemommy replied: We use Hyland's homeopathic C-Plus Cold Tablets -- they take care of runny nose, sneezing, congestion. We have great results w/homeopathy & no side effects -- although this is our first tiny little cold so we'll see how worse ones are.
A&A'smommy replied: Baby motrin works better when it comes to fevers, colds and stuff but tylenol is fine for teething or little ach and pains
ediep replied: we used pediacare night rest the last few nights becasue jason had a cough and hasn't been able to rest. He was up all nights for 2 nights and had no nap.
I usually only use med at night if he needs it. I really believe that if the cold is keeping him up at night, it takes longer to get better because he really need his rest.
luvbug00 replied: Pediacare is the most used here.. hope he feels better!!
TeagansMom609 replied: I alternate between Infant Tylenol and Infant Advil. Teagan's ped said we can use both since they are 2 different medicines. Use one and then use another 4 hours later. Works like a charm with keeping the fever down. You dont want to give anyone too much Tylenol in a day, its bad on the liver. Thats another reason I use both.
MyLuvBugs replied: Little Colds by Little Remedies. You can buy it at Target. It works REALLY well for Lorelei.
